~~Is it possible to do a WW/low carb combination??

Any thoughts on this?

I definitely feel low carb is the way to go. I haven't figured out how many "points" I would be eating if I converted it to WW way.

I certainly feel much better and don't have the food craving that I had before. I don't have gas either!! (woo-hoo----apparently I was known for it!!) Plus, I don't eat as much as I did before either.

I find that sometimes I have chosen 'low fat' over regular dressings and the carb content is way more. For instance...low fat honey mustard dressing at Wendy's 25 grams of carbs....regular dressing 10-12. Not sure, but do remember that it's quite a difference.

Anyone care to add their '2 bits'??

Sue Bee,

I am currently going to WW meetings, and they do have a higher protein WOE. You would eat within your daily points range, but spend more of your points on protein. I am doing my own low carb WOE on WW, by eating lots of non-starchy veggies, limiting my starchy veggies to 2-3 serv. a day, and cutting out sugar.

It could be the sugar content in the reduced fat salad dressings that make it have more carbs than regular salad dressing. If you get a cookbook for low carb cooking there would possibly be recipes for salad dressings that you can make from scratch that wouldn't have any carbs, or very little carbs.

SueBee,

I tried to combo WW with low carbing. It was the downward spiral to my lowcarb weight loss. I wish I would have never tried it.

You know they call them" points " but in all reality each point represents a certain amount of calories. I know I've seen it on the WW part of this board when I snoop around :) If your wondering if your getting too many calories I think you can put them into fit day and see what they come up with.

What happend to me when I tried to combine WW and low carbing was just my experience. I am sure that some people have made it work. I coundn't because it gave me too my room for error:dizzy:

Needed to come back and give you the web addy incase you dont have it for fitday.com . I've tried this and it's neat.

Best Wishes~~*~~ ChrissyB :df:

Hi,

I think our WW leader said that 1 point = 50 cal.

Hi Chicks!

I seem to be doing well combining WW and low-carb. The points keep me from overdoing things like nuts, cheese, and cream, although I can still have them. I don't do the WW low-carb, since that is too much carbs for me to feel good. I found out when doing Atkins that I only tolerate a pretty low carb count. So, I have at least one cup of low carb vegs with every meal, almost NO starchy carbs except for an occasional serving of mixed veges, and I count. I have sooooo many points this way in reserve it isn't even funny. I have to work to keep my point count high. I figured out that I had messed myself up in previous low-carb from all the 'legal' treats that I just overdid. So the points keep me on track. I like the meetings, and just use what is applicable to me. I get lots of good soup ideas :) Su

I tried WW/LC and it didn't work for me. I need more fat and protein than fits into the points system. No way can I last until lunchtime if I just have cereal, skim milk and fruit for breakfast and the bacon and eggs that DO satisfy me use up most of my daily points portion.
If you're going to be faithful to the WW woe, you have to have a certain number of fruits, dairy and grain products per day because they follow the "Food Pyramid". If you are a carb addict, you will glory in all the starches and fruits that WW allows but you will be craving more and more and MORE all the time. Even their higher proten version of the program has too many carbs for someone who is highly insulin resistant like myself.
The latest studies have proven to the satisfaction of all but the must hard-headed physicians and researchers that higher fat is not detrimental to heart health. It's the sugars that are killing us and making North Americans so obese.
