Good Morning Ladies! It's Wednesday AKA HUMP DAY!!!! YEE HAW!!!

  • Coffee is on and I'm drinking a diet dew.....no comments please ..I will also have coffee. You know me and caffeine.

DH woke everyone up in the house this morning looking for his shoes. So it was an early start for the oldest three boys and myself. I'm going to take advantage of this and try to get some more work done around the house. Mt. Laundry is getting big so I'll be taking care of that today.

Violin lessons for two of the boys today and of course the usual school work. Maybe the park a little later we'll see how they are especailly the two little ones they might be grumpy from waking up and going back to sleep

So far so good on the low carbing. I have my temptations but it seems like they are getting less often. I did weigh myself and it does'nt show that I've lost anything but I feel better and that's what counts and I do seem to notice that my clothes especially this one pair of jeans are feeling a bit more comfortable. So time will tell if the scale wont.

See ya later ladies and have a great day. Off to get more caffeine so I wont get a headache !!

    Love to all, ChrissyB
  • Good morning Crissy and all to follow! What a day already! Slept late, I stayed up past bedtime to watch Al Roker's story, how touching. Then, of course, ignored the alarm for 45 minutes but still managed to get dd to school on time. Don't ask how fast I was driving!! Off to find more caffeine, and something palatable to choke down for breaky. Ya'll have a wonderful day!!
  • Good Morning Ladies

Chrissy, doesnt mountain dew have just as much if not more caffeine than coffee? lol

Sherrie good luck with breakfast, I read your last post in the other thread. We are all rootin' for you!

Its been been pretty quiet around here, the store is picking up and the downtown association is planning a big christmas due in a couple weeks....so it looks like business is going to pick up considerably. So far Ive got one sign up for the twig furniture classes.....hopefully more to follow.

Staying OP but cutting back on the calories a bit. I am back in ketosis (the camel breath is back) I went back and studied my food logs for last week, and have decided to cut the cheese and pork rinds out. Seems to be working.

Marketing day today, should be a good one though. Not my favourite day of the week.

You ladies have a great day
    Robin
  • Mountain Dew has caffeine in it???? HEY!!!!!! THAT IS good to know!!!!!!!

    pass me one, will ya?

Robin! I love reading about your store!!!!

I think I am going to a craft "thing" (the hermitage, Leens!) with a couple of friends, and then lunch out somewhere. Dh just assumes I will be home....wonder when I will tell him I won't be here to cater to his needs or answer the phone.

Wish I had seen the Al Roker thing!!!!!

Food has been pretty good and I am down a couple. Eating more protein, little to no white stuff and feeling better.

    later,
    peach
  • Good Morning everyone, just passing through, I have a GYN appt this morning, gee peachie, I wish I was going with you instead.

Yes, Mountain Dew has a HUGE amount of caffeine in it.

    Chrissy your just so busy!!

Sherrie are you practicing to drive in Atlanta? People may talk slow in the south, but drive slow, I don't think so.

Robin do you have a web site for your shop? Would love to see it.

I also stayed up to watch the Al Roker thing on Dateline. It was very good. It was presented as his personal story, not an ad for or against the surgery. I'm sure it will be run again if you missed it.

I found an old date book the other day from Sept of 1980. On the 26th of the month I had listed my weight as 236, I'm below that now for the first time in 22 years. I had my first son in 1980 and have not seen the lower side of 250 since that time, until now.

Have a good day everyone, I'm off for this icky appt.

    Debbie.
  • Good morning all you keeners!

I should have posted here at 3 a.m. as I was awake then. I tried some natural source Nytol last night but still did the two hour "unsleep" - can't figure it out. Maybe I some great deep unresolved internal conflict! If so, I wish it would bob up to the surface so I can deal with it.

Another gray day in Delta but I'm planning to rise above it. My recheck with the periodontist went fine yesterday. Don't have to go back again until May - remind me to floss between then and now.

This weightloss thing is really getting me down! I have determined that I really am addicted to Chinese food! yesterday I had no intention of going to the Buffet after the dentist but ended up in the parking lot anyhow telling myself I'd eat just meat and salad. Well....guess what? And the scale shows another 3 pound gain overnight. Is there a 10 step plan for Chinese food addiction? Maybe COA - Chinese Overeaters Anonymous? Anyhow, back on track this morning - but then I get back on track every morning.

Hey - this is a whining post! Sorry but I'm feeling crappy the past few days and my darn wrist still hurts! Somebody yell at me, please.

I'm going to go away, have a coffee, pet the dogs and force a mood change. See you later.
  • Morning everyone...... looks to be another rainy, ucky day here as well. I just hope I don't step in any ankle-deep puddles today (like I did leaving work last night!! ) Today is going to be a really joyful day (NOT NOT NOT NOT) - gotta go to the doctor: for the first time in literally years, I have a UTI -- been trying to ignore it for weeks, hoping it'd go away.... no such luck! I've been really suffering with it since the weekend, so here I go - I sure hope he has some miracle something to make it go away FAST!

I stayed up to watch Al Roker last night, too - I found it to be an amazing journey into someone's head and heart.... I also felt so sad to know how he felt on the inside while being the "jolly old
Al" on the ouside.. I mean, I know many of us feel that way, it's just that I guess I never associated that feeling with celebs, only with me, with many of us here..... anyhow, Peach, I'm sure they'll re-run it..... and yes, Peachie, Mountain Dew has enough caffeine to keep you going!!!

Ruth, I won't ever yell at you, but I WILL hug you! (just as soon as you come on down to visit, of course!! - nah, I won't wait that long...... I hope your wrist feels better real soon - maybe it's the rotten weather?

Deb - WOW! Actually, I think that Sherrie is practicing to drive up here in Joisey and the big apple!!!

Robin, Chrissy and everyone else to come, have a great day, will try to catch up again later.......
  • Good morning!

I watched the Al Roker report last night, too. It was great. Anyone who missed it might try looking at the NBC website, maybe they have a transcript.

I'm happy to report that my energy is finally back. Maybe it had something to do with the 6 Diet Dews I just guzzled? LOL. Have you tried the Diet Code Red Mt. Dews? Very yummy when they are cold. Like a melted cherry iccee. Not so good when they are warm, more like cough syrup.
  • Sorry I missed the Al Roker thing but I saw them talk a little about it on Inside Entertainment.

Just went and blew $270 on groceries today. Sigh...low carb is so damned expensive! but at least I'm well stocked with no excuses now

Gotta go and unpack them now and find homes for all this stuff. I think dh might have a melt down when he sees the grocery bill. To be fair, we haven't done groceries for a month so it does add up!

Have a good day everyone--and good for you eating breakfast Sherrie, we're all here for ya hon!
  • Good morning! I am still in Kitchen ****, but stopped by to say hello. Today I will paint two coats on the front of my cabinet doors, then hopefully hang them tonite really late. This afternoon while they dry I will stuff my groceries back in the cabinets. Have you all looked through your cabinets lately? I threw out 1.5 trash bags of OLD stuff! Also found a bunch of dead weevils in the cabinet, YUCK, and some pasta and rice bags with perfect little holes bored through them. Tossed it all. Now we look like we have no food! I had expired boxes of crap I had bought ages ago and never cooked. This is the perils of having high cabinets. I need lower cabinets, or better yet, a pantry.

I watched Al Roker last night, also. Somebody sent me his website url a while back and I really like the guy! He has such a 'nice' website, something to read and say Awww to his kid stories. It is www.alroker.com if you are interested. I wish I had taped the show, and I'd mail out copies. It was so nice to see him so happy to be meeting his goal. Very inspirational.

Uh-oh, the power company is in the alley doing work of some kind. Better end here before my power gets zapped and I lose it!

    Be back later!
  • Well, I was a good girl this morning and went for my one hour pool session. I always feel so much better after that.
I've been in and out of ketosis all week. It's rare for me to get deeply into it but occasionally the test strips will show "moderate" which is cause for celebration. No weight loss but I think I mentioned that the tape measure showed a loss in waist and hips for the first time in a year. WAHOOOO! I've been increasing my weight training (using those floaty dumbells in the pool) and perhaps I'm building muscles. I can swim like a fish after a 10 minute workout with those things. Strange.
Back to the paint box for me today. Time is running out for having this darned pansy step stool painted. The sides are done and now I just have to finish the risers. I've had the most problem with those pansies on the front (naturally, the part that everyone sees ) I must have repainted them six times. This time they have to be keepers because I have to have this ready for our Craft Sale this weekend. I also have to do some baking for the bake sale. I've already made two banana nut loaves but today I want to make a couple of cranberry/orange loaves and some apple tarts. The light for painting goes so early so I think I'll have time for all the baking today....I hope.
    That's about all for now.
    Linda
  • Evening all!
Hey Ruth ~ Bet I can out whine anyone today.

Get your violins ready chickies cause here it comes!

Found out last night that my dad (who lives in SC) is to have by pass surgery Friday. Three blocked arteries with one being the main artery supplying blood to the heart. This, the man who at 73.5 years old is never sick and in excellent condition. Trying to find an affordable last minute air fare ~ more complications ~

Mom (who's in early alzheimers) calls me late last night - she's come home alone without daddy for the first time in 50 yrs of marriage and the realization of what's going on has hit her ~ I promise her I will find a way to fly out and be with her so she's not home alone ~ more complications ~

Can't find an affordable ticket on the internet ~ decide to give up and resubmit ticket bids this morning and pray for the best ~ gee, now what?

Change gauze and bandages this morning and I've got green again. Definate infection setting in on right breast again. I just took the last antibiotic yesterday - what's this about? And yes, I'm panicked due to the pain, etc., that I've been going thru for three weeks - how can I travel with "this ****"?????????

Decide to wait until I change bandages again this afternoon before complete panic and thought of not going to SC for daddy's surgery ~ So, go get hair done (finally-shaggy mess), go to eye clinic, etc., go to cardialogist. Cardiologist informs me that my stress test results were not 100% conclusive and that there are dark spots which might be shadows due to the swolen breast tissue but also might be blockage - wants to do a heart cathorization? (sp?) Just great as I'm wanting to go to SC and skin graft surgery is scheduled for 11/25/02. He won't approve the next surgery before this is done as I'd be knocked out for about 2.5 hours and too much of a risk - ok, now what?

Come in ~ bit upset ~ the wound care center has called to confirm my appointment for treatment starting tomorrow. I return the call with intent of cancellation due to everything else that's going on until the head of the unit gets on the phone, hears there's green drainage again - learns of the wet/dry treatments and other things I've been going thru for treating my complications and OMG - no-no-no, that's not proper treatment! sigh - ok, I'm keeping the appointment, but now how do I schedule a set to try to fly out, schedule date for heart cath before skin graft surgery on the 25th?

sigh - my daddy is the most important and I've just got to be there - but I can't let this infection get out of hand again. I can't not have the skin grafts. I can't do skin grafts without the cardiologist doing the required test. sigh

I know that God has a reason for all things. I need to pray and ask him to help me put this all together.

Sorry I'm such a downer lately to ya'll. I'd rather offer support.

    Hugs and love ~

    I need a drink ~ Janice
  • Janice, I am so sorry that you are going through this.

Is there anyone around that could possibly stay with your mom until you get there?

I hope that you feel better soon and that they get this infection taken care of...the correct way. How frustrating that must be.

Know that you will be in my prayers.

    Blessings to you ChrissyB

<<<<<<<<<<BIG HUGS THAT WONT SQUUEZE TOO HARD I DONT WANT TO HURT YOU>>>>>>
  • Awww, Janice, you whine all you want! I might have a couple of solutions. Maybe they aren't any good, but hopefully if they don't help, they might give you an idea for something else.

Call the main hospital in your Dad's town and ask if they have a physician referral service of some kind. My hospital has something called 'The Professionals' and they are an Ask a Nurse program and also will refer you to physicians. You can ask for a cosmetic surgeon, preferably one that is affiliated with a local medical school or a 'teaching practice'. You will get one that is prime in his field. Get the numbers and ask your doctors office to call them and ask for intermittent care while you are in SC. Your doctor can give you copies of your medical records for you to take with you.
My father has had to take medical records along. Not fun running around getting paperwork, but paid off.

For plane tickets, about your only choice at this late time is something like Priceline where you don't know how many legs or exactly what time you will fly, or call the airline direct and beg for mercy. Maybe with the circumstances you can get something arranged for a discounted flight, or get directions to close-outs. There are some airlines that do last minute closeouts. I think US Air is who my sister used to find cheapo flights to England. They have a section on their website for discounts for planes that aren't filling up. She has always gotten better rates direct from the airlines than discount houses. Maybe Frommers can give you an idea on what to do. www.frommers.com

I hope something here helps! Big hugs -- My dad went through the same thing last year, only a couple of years younger than your dad. What time is his surgery Friday?
