Trip into NYC on Saturday to Little Italy and Chinatown.

We will provide dinner on Friday night and a light supper on Saturday night.

NJ Newark airport is closer to Peach and Jiff, but Kennedy and LaGuardia are accessible for me to pick someone up if that helps-

I think that I am just thinking out loud here. As to hotels, there are two within 5 minutes of my house. Neither of them are Marriots :( One is new. One has a nice view of Kohls. I will go to each one, check out prices....I don't think that either one is terribly expensive. I would like to see if I can reserve a block of rooms. I am looking for neat and clean and a place to gather....perhaps a private room where we can hang out and relax and that maybe where I would be able to bring in a catered Saturday night light buffet. You all might not be too terribly hungry after Chinatown and Little Italy!

I tend to think around food....gee is it any wonder I am so fluffy!

Jiff and I will do a dinner Friday night at either my house or mom's.

gee.....at what point do I tell dh?

As to transportation. Yes, Newark is closer to Jiff and me. I will look into ground transportation and will work something out depending on your arrival times and my availability for personal pick up. Don't fret, there are a lot of options and all of them doable to suit individual needs.

LaGuardia, JFK and MacArthur (I didn't know that one!), if SamsG and Dottie are willing .....that would be super. Debkay might like to see the view of Shea and Yankee Stadium!!!!

As to Atlantic City, Barb, we are about two hours away. We are closer to New York. Consider making a long vacation out of it and renting a car to drive down there and spend a few days. You would be best suited to making your departure home from Philadelphia if that is what you choose to do.

f you KNOW you are going to go, and are adventurious, go to HOTWIRE.com and search for the best prices. The deal are awsome, I've used it several time. The down side is that you do not know what airline you will be using until you actually pay your money, and there are not refunds.

and as for shopping, well, there are many many choices. maybe we could put leenie in charge of a shopping tour in nj??? but if we'll be in chinatown ANYWAY, the fabulous pearl river department store is on canal street. checkout their website: www.pearlriver.com.

and there's always street shopping as well... and outlet shopping in secaucus. and flemington. and that outlet mall in ny state that leenie's always going to...

and as time gets closer, we can decide on dim sum with italian dessert or italian with italian dessert.

I don't care what we do, I just enjoy sitting and talking, or sightseeing if everyone wants to do that. Would love to eat in Chinatown or Little Italy, hubby and I have eaten there in the past.........oh delish!! Jiff and I are good at sharing a meal, works out great for both of us.

I am sooooo excited! This will cheer me through the winter! That is a very busy weekend in the Greenhouse but I'll get it off anyhow!
Now the only thing that could screw this is if my DD decided to finally get married that weekend!

Oh my gosh - think I could really do this??? Wow - I gotta wrap my mind around this one. I guess anything is possible! I might have to miss one of Bryan's baseball tourneys - but it sure does sound like fun!

So I wouldn't have to rent a car or drive anywhere strange? (I don't do well driving in strange cities) It would be great if most of us 'out of towners' bunked in the same hotel. Hot damn! I'm getting excited now!

kel, i'm sure there will be a couple of folks who will want to rent a car, but there's no real need to. and you won't have to drive in the city. i promise. depending on how many folks show up, we may actually rent some mode of transportation. if not, there will be enough cars with us locals, and the public transportation between here and NYC is quite good.

yes, it's quite doable for you. sometimes you can get RT airfares for less than 200!!!!

think about it.

I haven't been around in a while but think of you often. I am still struggeling to lose weight. Since Aug. I did lose 10lbs. I am on low carb. tho. Those 10 grandkids keep me busy.

Debbie, it was by the train ride. We were waaaaay down in the waiting line and there were stands there with different types of hats. (to the right of the train building.) That's how we managed to get one on Peach-she couldn't move forward in the line and if she ran - she'd lose her spot! :lol:

I was planning on going back on Sunday and get one for all of us - but well, Dawn had other plans!

Oh wow, this sounds like so much fun! I can't count on leaving Cody, though. He is in school still, or I'd think about heading up there with him and Rob and the Nintendo. Long story about not leaving him, but to make a long story short, he hasn't seen his dad in a year and I can't count on what Seperation Anxiety will be like in May.
