Progress...

  • Hi everyone,
I started induction last Monday. As of today I have lost 4.5 lbs! I feel good about it but feel as though it's mostly water. Also, I cheated a little this weekend so it's back on track for this week. I feel that my initial weight was a little inflated as I was just about to get my period, so this week should be a little bit of a better indicator.

I've got to really really try. I guess my downfall (if this could be considered one LOL how our perceptions change) is that I have been eating too many vegetables. Last night I had a taco salad with steak and there were a lot of tomatoes and onions in it, plus a great deal of guacamole and some sour cream. It was delicious though. Also, I think I may be eating too much cheese.

My aim this week is to be 151 by next Monday. Now I know we shouldn't set specific weight goals but this will really help me to feel like I'm going somewhere.

How is everyone doing this week? Here's what I've had today:

    Breakfast
2 slices swiss cheese, 2 slices turkey, 3 tbsp. cream cheese and broccoli sprouts all wrapped up

    Snack
3 tbsp. chicken salad and 1/2 cup tuna salad (from deli salad bar)

    Lunch
Hamburger with two slices white american cheese
1 cup cooked yellow and green squash with butter

Don't know what dinner will be yet...I'm thinking maybe homemade taco salad?

I'm going to try to cook a crustless quiche to have on hand for breakfast.
  • Great job on the loss, hey even if it is water!! Hope you are doing good today and back on the bandwagon again. The important thing is we keep on trying until we go longer and longer and longer without having a major slipup. But even if we do we just start once again.

I know my problem is too much cheese. I have to really watch that. I am a cheese addict. It sounds like you are off to a good start! Good luck, I am right there with you on my own plan.
  • you doo need to watch the cheese but for the vegies. eat them. what you ahve eaten does not sound bad. just do watch the deli salads they can fill them with breadcrumbs to fill it up. so please watch it it is better if you make your won. if you can. the eat it in some pork rinds MMM like eating it on crackers.

Tilly, congrats on the weight loss. Here in New York City where I live, the Medical society is finally taking a look at Atkins and his low sugar theory. They Poo poo'd him for years! My mother went on his diet and lost two dress sizes. She said that she was not hungry. I am thinking of trying it. nipper:
  • Nipper, there are a lot of people that are doing well on Atkin's. If it is a little too strict for you, maybe you might like Protein Power.

You can read a summary of low carb diets on this page. It is a work in progress, so there is still lots to be added in the near (hopefully!) future. The summaries were written by Forum Members.

  • also doing adkins
    Hi Tilly
Im also doing adkins, and have been on it for 1 week and 1 day. Im doing great and very keyed up about the program.

Here's what Im having today (I find Im not at all hungry on this plan and have to force myself to eat 3 meals a day)

    B-1 scrambled egg
    S-1 boiled egg
L-1/2 cup chopped celery, 1/2 cup (uncooked) green beans, 2-3 oz broiled chicken with sourcream and dill dressing
D-pulled pork(no sugar), 1 cup broccoli and 1 cup green and yellow bean salad(oil and lemon dressing)

Its tastey and does the trick. I roasted up a huge bag of chicken legs a few days ago, pulled the meat off the bones, put it in 2 0z amounts in baggies and froze. If I have the munchies, i eat chicken. Its great for Induction, no carbs and very low fat.

I havent been eating cheese at all (I love it!) due to an overabundance of yeast in my system....so I have had to find other things to snack on.

By the end of the day, Im usually at 17-19 carbs and feel very full and satisfied.

I hope this helps.....Keep up the good work!
