Hi everyone!
Today was my weigh in day and I lost 2 1/2 lb. That more than made up for last week.
nikkic, that's fantastic news about your bloodwork. You must've been relieved that everything was ok. What did your Dr. say? We haven't had any problems with Dell's support system. After DH wired up the computer, he was having a problem with the scanner. He called Dell and the tech. discovered that the old scanner wasn't compatable with the new computer, so he sent something to us to download so that the scanner would work. We have been very pleased with Dell. I'm sorry you are having so many problems with the supporters for your computer. I would think they would strive to have a great support system so that people will keep buying their computers. ANNE D. oooh, you must be in a lot of pain. Keep putting ice on it, it helps. I had tendonitis in my right elbow and had to go to OT for a few months. It was so bad I could't lift a coffee cup. The pain has been under control for a couple of years. Stretching helps it too. Hi mauvaisroux  Hope you are having a good day. Take care and have a great day. Aleka |
Good evening,
Aleka, good for you. I'm glad to hear your losing weight. It always feels good to see the needle on the scale move or number if it's an electric one. I didn't talk to the Dr. She was sick and since the blood work was ok, I just figured I'd talk to her at the end of the month. I have to see her about something else then. Anne, how's your foot? Where is the pain at? I had a problem a few years back with the muscle that runs under the arch of my foot. My heel was also painful. I went to a podiatrist and she gave me a shot of cortisone in there, ouch! Then she wanted to have an arch built for my shoe, it was really expensive. I said no thanks and went to Walmart. They have these inserts you put in your shoes that cup your heels and support your arch. It takes a few days to get use to, but it completely relieved my pain. Prior to that, I could barely step down on my foot. I don't know if this is the same thing for you, but if it is, you might try it. bye for now, Nikki |
Good Evening Everyone!
Well I sure read lots of great news!! Nikkic I am so glad your blood work came back ok. I am sure you are quite releived!! Aleka, 2 1/2 pounds!:cp: Thats just super, I am so happy for you. Nikkic the pain in my foot is directly below my ankle bone and it runs along to my baby toe. It really smarts. No swelling or redness though thats why I think its a tendon. I had a heel spur back a few years ago and that was nasty business as well. Sometimes I am walking fine other times I feel myself limping a bit. I still try to exercise by walking around on my lunch hour. My stride is rather slow at the moment. Talk to everyone Wednesday. |
Anne, that sounds like the same problem I had recently. My pain was mostly in my heel but stretched along the side. Turns out I was just in the beginning of tendonitis. I would definitely get it x-rayed soon. I went to my Chiropractor because I could get in the same day. He x-rayed and said all the bones were fine. He told me to
1. Buy New Balance tennis shoes. 2. Go to Athlete's Foot and buy SOF brand insoles. Wowee, they feel good. You stand on a pad and a heat sensor reading comes on the screen and the sales associate will tell you which style of insoles to buy based on where the pressure lies in your stance. 3. I went to him twice a week for electrode therapy on my foot, and that was a big pain reliever!! Felt so good each time. He also told me no more barefoot walking. I have been doing good for a while now, and I got lax on the barefoot thing and woke up with a stiff foot the other day. I hope you start to feel better soon! |
Hi Guys, I don't know if you read the Sticky on the low carb forum or not. Suzanne wants to see a show of hands to how many Somercizers we have posting (or just lurking!). We might add a Somercizing forum to the low carb forum.
Thanks! |
Jennifer, I saw it, but since I'm not strictly ss'ing anymore, more of a combo with Atkins, I didn't respond. In fact, I'm thinking about Schwrzbein for later when I've lost more weight.
PS-what you told Anne about your feet sounded good. I was told no barefoot walking too. But I'm a natural girl and still go around barefoot. I haven't had anymore pain, but my feet are like cast iron! |
Good Evening Everyone:
I am on the hunt for new balance tennis shoes. Thanks for all the great tips Jennifer. Our feet are important and man do they let us know it when they are not happy!! I am guilty about walking barefoot around the house. Nikkic, how are you finding Atkins plan? Do you find it more difficult than Somercizing? We are enjoying great weather here these last few days, I hope it keeps up for our holiday weekend. Hi Aleka! hope everything is going well. Anne. |
Good morning everyone,
We are having on and off showers this morning. We still do need the rain.
I'm off to my weekly lunch & shopping spree with a friend. We're eating at Chili's today. Each week we eat someplace different. Jennifer, I'm not strictly Sommersizing either. I'm going to WW and just following the principles of SSzing. No sugar, no fake fats, and eating real food. ANNE D, I've been wearing New Balance walking shoes for years. I absolutely love them, they are so comfortable. I also have to wear special insoles in them because I have plantar fascitis (sp?) in my left foot. Glad you are having good weather. nikkic, how is your Atkins/Sommersizing coming along? I've looked at Schwarzbein, and she does have some good points. She doesn't believe in food combining, and thinks you should have something from each food group when you eat. That is a good plan for maintenance, I think. Hi mauvaisroux, I hope all is going well with you. Take care and have a great day. |
Ok then, I don't guess a Somercizing forum is necessary! ;)

Hi everyone,
I've been painting again today. I knocked over the paint can and spilled 1/2 gallon on the ground. I was so frustrated I could have thrown the rest too. Anyway, I have to put one more coat on the backside and then it's done. Now DH is working on the shed and wants to paint it too. This is what I been eating- Breakfast-3 mornings a week bacon and eggs The other 4 mornings I drink an Atkins shake. I don't really like breakfast and this is the easiest for me. Lunch-Meat of some kind, a low carb veggie or two or a salad Supper- same as lunch Sometimes I drink a shake for lunch too, if I'm really busy and don't want to cook or waste time. For a snack, I might drink a 1/4 cup of cream (I really like it like this but it may sound yucky to someone else) or I'll eat a veggie. Sometimes an Endulge bar or sugarfree popsicle. I haven't really been counting carbs, so I'm not exactly doing Atkins. But I'm eating low carb and not stuffing myself, so I know I'm not eating too many. I've found lately that I don't eat as much as I use to. In fact, I never finish my meal. I take a regular portion, but before I'm done I feel full and quit. I use to be able to pack away enough for a family of four every meal.:o This is a new thing for me. Anne, I think if I was counting carbs, Atkins might be harder than ss'ing. I suppose you get use to it after awhile, like when I've counted calories in the past. I find I'm not too concerned with food anymore, I eat to get energy but I'm not eating for the wrong reasons, like to feel better or for comfort. I haven't exercised in a few days. I think I'll jump on the gazelle for awhile. Aleka, I hope you found some wonderful things when you went shopping and had a good time. Talk to you all tomorrow, Nikki :D :D :) :) |
Hi everyone!
Jennifer-maybe you should start a "combo" forum  Nikkic- painting is a real drag but the results are worth it. Is DH going to make you paint the shed too? ;) Aleka-hope you had fun on your shopping/lunch spree! Nothing like just hanging out with a good friend for the day. AnneD-good luck with the shoe shopping :) I am exhausted:yawn: I came home from work with a load of veggies and spent the evening blanching and freezing them. I am looking forward to this 3 day weekend. night, Mauvais |
Good morning!
I finished the garage last night, after getting my second wind. DH is doing the shed today. I like to paint really. It's kind of like a Zen experience. I feel like I'm meditating after awhile, all I think about is painting and it makes me feel relaxed. Except when the paint falls over, or I'm getting bite by a million bugs like last night. I really would prefer DH not helping. He hates to paint and it shows. I'm not that big of a perfectionist, but he just doesn't do a good job. There's runs and globs of paint everywhere. I must sound like a :censored:. I think sometimes he is kind of immature about it. Like he was a little boy and forced by his dad to paint, so he doesn't do a good job. Nobody's forcing him now, but he still doesn't understand he's got to do a good job for himself now. That made me think about myself and my relationship with food. I wonder if maybe I'm becoming more adult about it. Rather than using it for comfort and to make myself feel better. That is what infants do. I'm starting to see food as necessary to make my body have energy and to give it what it needs to make new cells and to heal itself. I'm making better choices and keeping myself undercontrol. I don't even feel deprived when DH has a malt from DQ. I have a little cream and I'm happy because I know it's good for me. Looks like I'm way to philosophical for this time of day. :halffull: I must have painted too much. I did the abdoer and the gazelle this morning. I feel so much better afterwards. My muscles were so tight before and now I'm all limbered up and ready to go. We're going to a craft fair over at the Bridges of Madison County tomorrow. It's a really big show, lots of stuff to see and buy. A big car show for DH to look at too. Should we call our group Lowcarb Freestyle? (I saw freestyle on the Gazelle this morning and thought about us.:dizzy: ) Just a thought, anybody else? Later, Nikki |
Hi Everyone:
I got through my mothers birthday ok yesterday. I ate jello and whipped cream instead of cake. I a disgusted though, I have been the same weight for three long weeks! The only thing I can think of is I have really slacked off on my water consumption. Do you guys think that really would make a difference? I went grocery shopping with one of my 12 year old sons yesterday, picked up a pumpkin pie for thanksgiving and put it in the cart. I looked at Sean and seen his long face, I said whats wrong? He replied aren't you going to make the pie this year? Talk about feeling guilty! When I'm not eating the good stuff I lose interest in making it too!:nono: Nikkic, lowcarb freestyle works for me! Hi Aleka! , Hi Mauvaisroux, Happy Thanksgiving!!! I'm not going to cheat, (I hope):o Anne. |
Good morning,
We're supposed to have rain off and on for the next few days. It's not supposed to clear up until Mon., just in time for the summer people to leave.
Had a great shopping spree on Thurs. I bought 4 T/neck jerseys, 2 of them to wear with a suede vest I bought a couple of weeks ago, and 1 to wear with a sweater I bought a couple of weeks ago, plus a pair of denim, and black leggings. My GF had to go into a jewelry store and I saw 2 rings that I absolutely adored and tried them on. The salesperson wrote down the product nos. and their prices on her business card. When I got home I handed DH the card and said, "Here choose one and that's my Christmas gift." :s: ANNE D, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you mother.:hb: I'm glad that you had a good time at her party and that you stayed OP. You have lost a lot of weight and your body may be resting for awhile. Maybe if you go into SS site and click on FAQ's I think she has reasons for stalling, and tips on how to get going again. You will eventually start losing again. When I did SSzing the first time, I stalled, but kept losing size. Maybe you are losing size instead. Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING on Mon.:df: nikkic, low carb freestyle works for me too!:flow2: Sometimes men can be like that with chores. You really have a wonderful attitude in regards to food. Yesterday DH & I went out to lunch and I had a bunless hamburger, I put the lettuce & tomato that they gave me, plus some bleu cheese dressing they give you on the side (that was awesome with the bleu cheese dressing on the hamburger:T ) and I was full just eating that. I wasn't hungry for dinner either. mauvaisroux, hope you are having a relaxing weekend. I want to wish you a HAPPY THANKSGIVING on Monday. Take care and have a great weekend everyone. |
Hi,
Anne, I understand how your feeling. I do think that your body is just resting and your weight loss will start again in no time. I get so impatient, I keep eating really low carb, exercising and all. Then I get on the scale and nothing for so long. I have been seeing some results here the last few weeks and I'm thrilled. I've lost another pound this week. That's why I went to Atkins. He says that ss'ing is like his plan but you don't lose as fast ssi'ng due to the fact that you eat more carbs and higher starchy veggies. He thinks the food combining is ok, but not necessary. It is a lot stricter, but for me, it helps me to keep going. I think ultimately, it took me years to put all this weight on, so it will realistically take about 2 years to take it off. Unless I got my stomach stapled. I don't want to take it off too quickly, my skin is already saggy enough from gravity. Losing lots of weight fast would just give me lots of extra loose skin. So I think maybe, your body has to have a little time to fit into its new self, before it can start to get on with getting smaller. If your happy ss'ing, I just keep on doing it and you'll see results again before you know it. Congrats on not eating cake and happy birthday to your mom! Boy kids can make you feel like a rat sometimes. I told my DD no dressing at Thanksgiving this year and she was so disappointed. So I said we'll see, but I don't think so. Aleka, I am so envious of your shopping spree. :p I've got a bunch of new clothes I bought earlier this summer for fall. Now they are going to be too big. I love clothes and I've got so many things that I've worn once or some not at all. I don't know why, but I tend to just wear the same things over and over and save the new stuff "for good". Then after a few years of hanging there and never getting worn, I give them away. I must like the shopping more than anything. How about starting a new thread on Monday and calling it Low Carb Freestyle? This thread is getting a little long and may give the wrong impression to anyone that is looking for ss'ing only. Later, Nikki |
