Need recipes

  • We are getting the low carb section together (still) for the site, and I am getting ready to start on the recipe section. We can use low carb recipes! Please, if you have any good recipes, would you mail them to me or post them on the recipe section?
Also, do you think anybody would have any objections to us posting the low carb recipes that are already on the forum to the cookbook on the site?

We have a great 'cookbook' script that Suzanne has been tweaking and developing and hope to have it up soon. I don't have to have nutritional data. We will input it all into Mastercook and use the data from there.

    Thanks!!
  • Hey Jennifer!

I think this is a great idea. I am not so good at recipes but does any one remember DDaves cookbook? I have a bunch of recipes printed out from her book, but I don't know if it would be ok to use those!

    any thoughts on that?

  • cooking???? EEEWWWWWWW!!!!!! ICK!!!!!!!
  • I don't think we should use recipes from cookbooks. They aren't copyrighted as individual recipes, only as an entire collection, but I would rather not use them in general recipes. Ya know, that does lead to a good idea. If we could get publisher permission, we could post a section on our favorite recipes from cookbooks and have links to the books on Amazon or something, then that could be a plus to the authors, maybe!? I'll stick this on the back burner, and revive it after we get all this other stuff going!

Jiffffffffffffff! You don't like to cook!? My friend Kathy told her husband when they dated that she didn't cook. After they were married, he tried to teach her to cook, thinking she didn't know how. She clarified she DIDN'T cook, not CAN'T cook! Her idea of a perfect kitchen is vending machine and a kitchen table. Wow, I love to cook. I read recipes all the time. I have post-it notes all over my kitchen from recipe notes where I try to make my own things all the time. I'd love to have the time to write a cookbook one day. My poor husband and son get to be my guinea pigs on a regular basis!
  • jennifer... i'm one of those nice italian girls whose grandmother taught her to cook from an early age. and i've always been an excellent cook. but as i've told my family repeatedly, i gave it up for Lent one year, and never went back!!!

and now, there's just no point in cooking. i eat so little, and i'm too beat to cook for mom when i get home.

althought mom bought about 2 pounds of ground beef that should be used [it's not like we'll actually EAT it], so i MIGHT make some chili...and freeze it., and give some to peachie.
  • I don't see why you couldn't use DDAves cookbook. I think it was just a compilation of all the low carb recipes that people had posted in this forum, wasn't it? I had it in my drawer until last year when it got thrown out by mistake. Lots of good stuff in there that I'm pretty sure wouldn't be copyrighted (copywritten?)
  • Oh! I didnt' know which cookbook you were talking about. So, this isn't a published book? Ahhhhhhhhhh! I see content flashing past me....

Jiff, I don't blame you. I didn't think about the amount that you ate. Wow, you could really get the hang of that once a month cooking thing!
  • copyrighted

and the once a month cooking thing would be efficient, but who wants to eat the same thing all the time??? and besides, i have the local deli guys trained to give me about 3 oz of stuff..

meals eaten out last 2-3 MORE meals, so i'm pretty well set for the week, with the addition of some salad/vegs, cottage cheese, and an egg or two.
  • If anybody has a copy of that recipe file, can you e-mail it to me? [email protected]

Jiff, I wish restaurant food could last me for 2-3 meals!
  • DDaves cookbook
    Be careful-

If I recall correctly, DDAVES may have been trying or actually finding a way to get it published.

In the beginning, she would e-mail the file to you and many old members probably have the whole cookbook. I don't remember the details, but for some reason, she was starting to charge $10 dollars or so for it.

Maybe LindaBC or Ruth remembers better than me. Or Debkay?

Anyhow, I have it, but I'm not sure if we should use it without her permission.

PM me if you want me to send it to you, Jennifer.

  • Dottie is right. DDaves finally did start asking for $ because she was getting many, many requests. I don't know if she ever published the book but it does not seem to be in the public domain.
    We'd better be careful.
Does anyone have her email addy from way back?
  • Was this a compilation list of recipes from this site?
  • I think some were from this site and some from the Atkins one BUT they could have all been originals. What the heck constitutes an original recipe?
  • My DD, Melissa, and Debbie chat on a regular basis. So, what I recall about the cookbook. Yes, she did manage to get it published. It was a combination of recipes that she gathered as well as many "original".

I'll "E" Melissa and get Deb's current addy.

  • Hmm, probably better to not pursue it then. Maybe I should just post the current ones in the recipe section! Out of curiosity, does anybody know the name of the book? I have a thing for cookbooks!
