How about a low-carb challenge?

Hi everybody :wave:
I noticed over at the Body for Life thread (under Diet Plans) that they are starting a 3 week challenge after the Labor Day holliday.
I thought that it might be helpful if we had our own challenge. We don't have to compete against each other to see who lost the most. What I would like to see would be a 3 week period of accountability. It doesn't matter what low-carb diet you follow. The daily goals could be:
~~ to eat clean (you could have 1 free meal and snack/week if you like)
~~~ drink at least 64 oz of water
~~~ get some form of exercise

If we can do it for 3 weeks, it can become a habit and not as difficult to stay with it. What do you think?

I'm up for it. I acutally told the BFL girls i'd do theirs, but i'll do ours!

I'm in. Three weeks from today I go for my pre-op physical so the timing is great.
I pledge to keep my carbs restricted to well below 100 every day. That means no "little treats" like licorice or ju-jubes! The only carbs I will eat will be low-GI carbs.

Ladies, we can do this :cb:
I'll start the challenge thread on Sept. 3. So start your shopping lists and exercise plans and be ready to rock-n-roll.
Maybe we can do a smiley-face system: you get a smiley face for each catagory (diet, water,exercise). Any suggestions are welcome.

Count me in!!!

This is JUST what I need, accountability. It's so easy to cheat myself, but If I know I have to report it, I take time to decide if I really want something.

I am IN!

I had the same thought this week, and was going to suggest a 2 weeker, but 3 weeks is better!

I have been doing great for the last couple of weeks, using fitday, and cutting calories a bit- so I want to:

1)diet- keep between 1400 and 1600 calories per day and under 70 g. of carb

2)water- drink only water, brewed green and black tea, or limited amounts of cranwater. And morning coffee, of course!

3)lifestyle(you can call this "exer-you-know-what" if you want:rolleyes: :shrug: ) EITHER do some weights, OR take a bath OR ride the exercise bike OR jump on the trampoline OR take a nap. This is for stress reduction, one nice thing per day for ME!

NO CRAFTS!

who's next?

Okay, I'll deactivate my normal "lurker mode" to join in the challenge. I really need to be accountable for my exercise, or lack thereof.

dyan_q 08-30-2002 02:32 PM

I made a 3 week challenge chart.

If anyone would like a copy of the chart I made, just e-mail me: [email protected] and I can send you a copy. It's really basic, but I love my charts and graphs. I'm such a dorkette. :D
