  • coffee is on and mostly drunk!! get in here quick!!!
  • I am up eary TOM here for the packing and start of camping UGH I hate TOM I keep praying for menopause. or atleast a reason to get it janked!! A frind insists that sex is better after it is out. I keep telling her it would be goodif i got it at all!!! but i Will keep asking the doc. she keeps telllng me it is fine I kkeep telling her i want it out!! OH well can you see where my mjind is???

so out of the gutter. I had my coffee already and am working onthe second cup. up last night till 11 and u p this morning at 5:30 I am crazy.
  • 'Morning - Grabbing Sue's coffee on the way past!

Wish I could send sound across the Net. The loons are raising a huge stink this morning - both the laughing and the screaming cries. They fly between the lakes hollering away - forget rooster wake-ups - we have loons!

Hey, *****y Drawers' dog threw up at Obedience class again! I suggested she might consider changing his diet. She feeds bones and raw food - the BARF diet. Maybe that's why.

Worked at the Office for 6 straight hours yesterday afternoon! This is so stupid. I did get lots done with no interruptions except for a few phone calls from people wanting to rent concession space - I just passed them on to the phone number for the correct Director. Last year I would have looked after their requests but this is the New Me! (The previous Treasurer never answered the phone - she may have had something there!)

Re TOM - it sure is wonderful when you get over it. I didn't find menopause much of a drag - except for a couple of weepy days (at work! but made it to the washroom) and the suspense of never knowing when TOM would come. I am on HRT and went on it partway through The Change which really helped - once we got the right dosage. If you are overweight, your estrogen level frequently remains high so the pills need some fiddling. The only problem is that I can't use PMS as an excuse when I'm feeling *****y! s

This morning I am taking off for town by myself - no DH and no dogs! I want to buy a wheeled and handled carryon if there is such a thing. My damned arm is still giving me grief and I have a wee trip planned next weekend - a flying jaunt to Madison, WI for a Garden Biddies get together. Time will be too tight to go see Tip but ...next trip. Once I'm out of this Treasurer thing, I plan lots of trips - let me know if you have an empty couch or bed and I'll invite myself. I have no pride!

Off to the shower and to try to find some city clothes - jeans and clogs just won't do this morning.

    Enjoy the weekend.
  • Good morning ladies!

Sue, i am with you I am done having kids and would like it gone!! But I am 38 and my doctor thinks I am insane!

Ruth, the loons sound great, I have a monstrous woodpecker wacking away at what sounds like a metal pole, not quite the same!!!!

DS has Karate this am, DD is staying home with Daddy! Our guests are leaving this am. They are creating an emotional cripple in their one yr old son, it is very depressing. He will not let anyone hold him except his parents, he will not ride in the car-he screams so they just don't take him anywhere, he does not like to be away from home so they stay home. They have never been anywhere without him ever.....he cries they run to pick him up.... and the list goes on.....I will not be sad to see them go, she has told us that if we want to see them we will have to come to them from now on, she is not going to torture him by making him cry riding in the car!! Very sad.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
  • soo. the peaceful weekend is a myth???
good grief, ladies, you're all so incredibly busy!

sue, have a great time with all those little boys, and i'm with you on the TOM thing. i'm so bummed that it's shown up again, no matter that it's a 'healthy' sign for me. ick!!!

and ruth, i'm planning to come up next summer to bird watch. i LOVE loons, and i've never seen them in bunches. and BD sounds not only *****y but stupid... revenge is sweet, isn't it??

scooby. some folks never learn, but at least you'll have your life back. and i can tell you're just itching to schedule a trip to see these friends, aren't you???

the deck is nearly done, and it'll be so nice to have. we need to get the table and chairs for it today. unfortunately maggie louise, the rottweiler, pulled mom down yesterday, in the street. mom took it into her head to take this mutt for a walk. i was in the house and missed the whole thing, but thank goodness some neighbors saw it and brought both mom and dog home.

mom's stiff this morning, but not as stiff as she was afterwards, so i count that lucky. nothing broken. and since she's on prednisone and vioxx anyway, i didn't worry about inflammation.

she was pretty annoyed with me, though, because i wouldn't let her lie down and spend the afternoon in bed!!! i was terrified that she's freeze up!!! don't worry. i didn't make her hike miles or anything, but we did go out to lunch, and we got our hair cut/colored [me]/permed [her], which meant walking up and down a few steps.

and she'll be doing more gentle walking today as well... no rest for her weary old bones!!!

have a great day and weekend ladies, and sue, stay well and don't wear yourself out with the gremlins!
  • I don't have loons, but I do have a male cardinal singing in my front yard VERY loud. What a nice song! Slept until 7:00 which for me is late and I feel great! We're headed for town to grocery shop and do other errands. We've decided to remodel the kitchen before doing the living room flooring cause of the dust factor. I'm not looking forward to it as my lungs don't like old dust. I'll probably wear a mask for weeks! Is better than getting bronchitis!
Regarding TOM, I never missed it! As soon as I didn't have a period for one year, I gave all my supplies to DD. Praise the Lord!
As for sex, I don't remember if it was better or not!
I gave up trying to tame the kitty Stormy! It just is too fiesty and doesn't want to be touched. Oh well! I can still enjoy watching it. It is very independent and seems to be doing fine.
Darn it! Dh left his pager here as he is gone to get a haircut. It's going off and is VERY irritating. Can I put it in a cup of coffee, you think????
Oh, I have a ******ed woodpecker banging it's brain off on some metal AGAIN. I bet that doesn't help the brain cells!
  • The Results are IN!!!
GOOD morning everyone! Wow, finally, what an absolutely gorgeous day here on Long Island! I shut down the a/c and opened all the windows... it is sunny with a wonderful breeze!

AND - to make things even better... (drumroll please)... I just got off the phone with the MD's office: my blood tests are back...
I've been doing Atkins now for almost 12 weeks (on the doctor's advice/orders) and I know I am losing weight (slowly, but still losing!). However, even after reading the whole book and listening to my doc, I still never ever really down deep in my gut believed that it was "good" for you........ well....... my cholesterol has gone down 66 pts!!!! It is now 237(which, while still a bit hi, is a whole lot better!) my blood sugar has dropped to 101 and my LDL/HDL has gone from 4.5 to 2.6....... All this while eating a cheese omelet cooked in BUTTER almost every single day!!!!! whoooo hoooooo!!

Sue and Scooby -- I had all mine removed at 41... HRT is a wonderful thing!! Just think of being able to wear white slacks again!! (btw, Sue, thanks for the coffee - it really hit the spot!)

Ruth ... enjoy your solo trip - Yes, they DO make a wheeled, long-handled carry-on... I have one.... you're welcome to borrow it! that is, if you take me with you (it's ok, DH also has one!!) I loved hearing about Ms. BD and her puppy... serves the witch right - no sympathy from me for her!!

Jif -- enjoy shopping for deck furniture... the shopping part is almost as good as actually getting to use and enjoy it! (and btw, what is with our NYC chick meet? is it 8/4 or some other day???)
  • Sue, I have been debating over this same issue! Last year I had to fight tooth and nail to keep doc from snatching it, and this year I'm going through the same problem and he doesn't want to. But I do now! Go figure!

Well, dd is coming home around lunch time. Brother from NC called to say he is on the way, he'll be here around lunchtime, and I should clean up a little bit since the wife is coming with him. WHAT???????????????? As if I don't clean up when company is coming! Boy, did that get me steaming this a.m. That's okay though, they won't stay long.

I've gotta go cook steak, mama has it in her head to eat some for breakfast this morning. Talk to ya'll later!!
  • Morning Everyone! It is a bit cooler here right now--I thunder rumbly is moving in from the north. They are saying more 90 degree weather for today. Hope the rain moves out before tonight when our company is coming. I am making hot beef for sandwiches, but DH is also grilling some hotdogs for anyone who might prefer them. I was also hoping we could play some bocci ball. We played it in WI last weekend and enjoyed it so I got a set for us to play here. That does count for exercise doesn't it??? Got all the carpets cleaned yesterday--5 rooms and a small hallway. Whew--what a job, but they look great. Need to get going and finish up making "house beautiful" for the guests.

Sue, I hope you have fun camping--tell TOM to stay home!

Ruth, my inlaws live about 20 minutes from Madison WI. We were there last weekend during the family reunion. Have fun!!

Rachel, that poor kid! Hope his parents wise up soon or he will have troubles.

Jif, hope your mom is feeling better today. Some friends had their Rotweiler--Rocky--at the barbecue the other day--I never realized how BIG they are! He was really a mellow dog though.

Tippy, I think that Pager needs caffeine!

Sherrie, take two breaths and then punch him in the nose when he gets there! Just kidding. Good luck with the visit.

    Have a good one ladies!!
  • Sherry get it pulled as soon as you can if you have any choice of the matter. a firend had put it off for years now she is ready had it done 2 weeks ago and it had grown attatched to her bladder. it just meant a little longer recovery but is now doing great.

Ruth I have lots of couch room. you can come any day!!! I love the sound of loons! you can bring some down when you come.

Annie dinner sounds great! hope it rains before everybody comes and it can cool down for your get together.

Sam's grama i love the way this woe suprises us!!1 what great news!!! My cholesterol was headding up when i hit this woe and it is abolutly perfect. just give it a bit more time and the ratio will get better. and at ths time it is the ratio that counts so if you have a higer level of good cholesterol the better. so look at the ratio you are haveing great results. now only if i can convince DH who insists on eating all the carbs and fat together!!!

Tippy just do not stick it in the dryer!! it echoes!! cardinals are wonderful singers too!!

JIff glad that mom made it throught eh dog walsking ok but her pride. the steriods can weaken the bones!! I hate it when some one walks my dog (90 lbs of him) and lets him pull the leash. the next time he either pulls my arm (much to his suprise he gets it pulled right back rather sharply) or he take s the boys for a DRAG!!! across the yard. He has done that a few times. (can you tell some one did that yesterday, and i took the dog away from her after i told her not to let the dog pull her, and she continued. i then told her why and she just laughed. but it is not funny when a big dog dragges a small boy across the yard through the drive as they hang on for dear life afraid of letting the dog run away in to the street) But anyways some people just have to do what is on their mind no matter if they think they can handle it or not. (like me)

Scooby send that child here for a few weeks he will learn real fast!!!
  • Samsgrandma: Thanks so much for that report. I have to admit< I'm like you, I know I'm loosing weight ,(quite quickly for me!) but in the back of my mind I keep thinking that I'm being "healthy" enough. The balanced meal thing goes deep. A lifetime of learning is hard to unlearn. As you all know, it was after Alvin's surgery and talking with his surgeon that made me decide to try it. Now Alvin is having problems with his kidneys and his PCP is blaming all the protein in his diet, and we can't get in to the kidney specialist until September, and Alvin is going against his surgeons advice and limiting his protein, Of course what is being missed in all of this is that because of his diabetes, he has had kidney problems before)

Anyway, to keep it simple, even though I'm thrilled with the weight loss, I was beginning to doubt the healt claims of Dr Atkins. Thanks for reaffirming those.

    I have lost 9.25 pounds since 6/1/02.
  • Y_A_W_N....sorry, it's almost vedtime and I'm up late. I had a busy day today and I'm finally having a few minutes to sit down and relax a little. Hope you all had a good day. Good night...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • 'Nighty night, Pooky and the rest of the henhouse. I just got in - had to work a Bingo at the last minute. Anyhow, it was a good one - we made over $1000 profit so I guess it was worth it. Dh was not delighted but he'll get over it.
    Sleep well everyone.
  • Way to go girls. I am off and packing the last things but had to check in!! see yo all next week bus is leaving in 1 hour!!
  • Good Early Morning!! Everyone else is sleeping here, but of course my insomnia has kicked into full gear on a day when we have nothing planned to go to. Had a great time with our guests last night. Whenever we do something like that I always say, "Why don't we do that more often". And DH always says, "Cuz it's too Darn much work" Anyway, most of clean up is done so today will be an easy one. Of course spin cycle is still out of commision on washing machine so I must figure out something for that. I also need to go and finish Bday shopping for my DS.
Hope everyone has a great day!
