Hi Annie - never had sun tea. Would love to try it.

Just did a long post and lost it when I tried to delete my post. Annie and I were posting at the same time.
  • My weight is still stuck at 206 - sure is hard to change that darn set point!
  • My garden is looking a bit better - more seeds go in this morning before it becomes unbearably hot.
  • Got my perm - looks OK - like I spent the night with Raoul. (Who has that guy right now, by the way?)
  • This morning, after gardening, I'll be baking for the Family Reuinion this weekend - wish me luck! One recipe calls for white chocolate and dried cranberries!

Have a great Hump Day chickies

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day !

Boss lady is in today so I can't play long

How's everyone doing. I'm okay can't complain. Yesterday I did pretty darn good at eating but I didn't go on the eliptical, instead I cleaned the kitchen and did a few things around the house so I kept busy. I made brownies for Jim and I only had 1/2 " little nibble piece, I was happy I could hold back. The rest of the pan is here at work so I don't have it at home where I'm liable to do some damage (its even got frosting on it aaaaahhhhh).

Men are strange 1:00 pm Jim wakes me up to tell me that Grace was moving around her crib for the past 1/2 hr and cooing ?????????????????????????? alllllll righty then !! boing boing boing !!!

Annie, I need my coffeeeeeeeeeeeeeee but thanks for the tea offer.

Ruthie, I would have given you a perm

TTYL, Love Leens
(and you wonder why I use this icon next to my name ?)

Good Wednesday Morning, Ladies!

Annie, thanks for the offer of sun tea, love it, but still need my java this early in the morning. Maybe I will have some later.

Happy days are here, we are getting some much needed rain. I have been getting so tired of dragging the hoses around the house to sprinkle the lawn and my flowers. Someday, maybe an underground sprinkling system is in my future, but until then, I will dance in the rain. Love it.

Don had soccer tryouts for the first time, boy that makes a mom nervous. Especially because he was feeling a bit down with a summer cold or allergy. He was sniffling and coughing and complained of a sore throat. He is doing better today which is the second day of tryouts. We will know in 2 weeks if he makes the team. I am so jittery, I feel I am waiting for a college acceptance letter.

Still spending my days at baseball. Don's last game is Sunday, and Darren has another month to go.

Have a great op day!

Default well good morning ladies!!!

did some gremlin sneak in last night and reset the posting times and play around with the computer cookies?? system maintenance?

well, ruthie, i'll bet you're gorgeous... all nice and fluffy. sun tea is great stuff.. and easy to make, as long as you have some sun [do you get that in the great frozen north???? ]

get a quart glass jar [or larger.. even a gallon if you're making it for lots of people], fill it with water, place two tea bags per quart in the jar, and leaving the little tags out so that you can put the lid back on and hold them in place.

then put it in the sun for a few hours. and voila!!! oh. and take the tea bags out before you refrigerate. you can make this with any kind of tea, or use couple of different kinds, like regular tea and lemon tea or spice tea and lemon tea or whatever.

leenie... he STILL woke you up even after you made him brownies???? and why didn't he eat them????? at least congrats for you for your just a nibble!!!

and dondar. hope he makes the team, but it you're this nervous now, what is going to happen when college application time actually hits????

nothing much here. peachie did a fabulous job last night [has anyone else noticed her lack of posting??? she blames it on cooking for the party!!!!!]

the kids were so cute. the little guy actually sat and had dinner with everyone, and held up his end of the conversation just beautifully... and then ran off and got all dirty!!!! a perfect little boy.

and the big one kept trying to organize games, with some success, but a couple of the girls just wanted to eat and play with lizards. go figure!!!!!

and so, another day of going to work with these crazy people...

hope you all have a wonderful day. and lots of iced tea.. [even though i KNOW that southerners NEVER say iced tea.. it's always tea, sweet or unsweet, and if you want a proper cuppa, you have to TELL them you want hot tea.]

Morning Everyone! Just back from dropping DS off at football. We are supposed to have storms moving in within the next hour or two. We need the rain, but does it have to storm???? We had a boomer move through last night right as I am driving DS and 4 other football players up to the "big city" for a 7on7 league. No visibility and PLENTY of lightning. Talk about white knuckles. We finally drove out of it, thank goodness. I don't think I could have done the whole 40 miles in that rain! Today is summer reading program down at my school and I need to get my paycheck in the bank and get cash for our trip. Not really a trip--weekend at my DH's parents for a major family reunion. (I think I would rather come to yours Ruth, may I please!) I am trying to talk DH into taking a couple of days after that and just doing something fun--the 3 of us. He is such a bear right now with the changes at work I am about going crazy! Did really well eating yesterday and did the 3 mile walk away tape. Boy can I feel it today--it is much faster paced and uses the light weights much more. No movement on the scale yet. Not going to weigh again til after we get back. The new varsity basketball coach called DS last night after the football game and wants him to fill in tonight with the varsity at their shootout. He is thrilled--I am sorry to see my one night at home disappear--pretty selfish on my part I know! Marinated turkey tenders on the grill tonight with fresh green beans. Yum!

Ruth, sun tea is when you put a bunch of teabags in a big jar and sit it out on your deck. The tea is brewed by the sun and the heat of the day. We drink gallons of it around here.

Jenny, fingers crossed for your son in his soccer tryouts! I bet he does great!

Leens, I guess the good thing is at least DH heard the baby--my DH can and has slept through tornados in the area. Good job on staying away from the brownies!

Jif, sounds like your party was a great time. Glad you had such a nice birthday! My son loves the Lipton "Southern Style sweet tea" that comes in a jar. He doesn't have to worry about the calories like his mama does.

Have a good day everyone!!

GOOD Morning everyone......

had my coffee - iced today - and am getting ready to get ready for a little work today. I got a call yesterday asking me to cover someone's shift: hmmmmm, I guess that means I don't have to look for a job today - right? After all, if I have even a little work today, doesn't that qualify? doesn't it, huh? huh? huh?
Ruth - keep on drinking, you're bound to get rid of some of that fluff if you do (at least, think of all the exercise you'll get from running to the potty!!!)! BTW - are you gonna share Raoul?
Leens - only a 1/2" piece???? WOW! My hat's off toyou, girl! I couldn't stop there!
Dondar - the waiting is always the worst part, so just hang in there.
Jif - sounds like you really enjoyed "our" birthday -- I hope you had a bite of that ice cream cake for me, too (AND that it was chocolate!!)
Adoannie - marinated turkey tenders on the grill sounds wonderful - what time is supper?

Talking morning!

Well count down to summer holidays is on! Only three more days!
I am looking forward to the change in routine but by looking at my calender I don't think we are any less busy!

My dd 10 had a pretty good year in grade 5 but we had our moments...she is looking forward to sleeping in in the morning!

My dd 4 is just happy! She will be starting K in the fall and is at a good age to enjoy the daily goings on around here.

Work is phoning me every day but I have resisted. I have scrapbooking and gardening and doing fun stuff for a change...I evne thought about doing some of the deep cleaning that this house needs before all the company starts arriving next week...

Have a good one everyone!

Liz

Well, I bought a new bike last night and my SIL wants the old one. If she changes her mind the guy at the bike shop said he would take it. I love small town life and I love that I can get used bikes for the kids there and others do what I do. I went for a ride this morning, the 4 mile round trip to town to swap the bike seat for the big girl squishy tushy seat. He did it for free so that was nice. The back home and over to he town dump that has bee renovated to fields and such. It is a warm morning, but a lovely ride. I think I covered about 7 miles this morning!!!

You all sound so busy. Lots of reunions going on and birthday celebrations; I have friends coming for the 4th next week, in the meantime I have laundry to do and cleaning.

I am off to return DH’s undies and go to the craft store to get sticky dots to finish putting together the printing job I need to finish. It is going to be a warm one for today; so I think we will go to the pool after camp and then the boys have their make-up karate test @ 6:30 tonight. I hope they get their belt. 40 push-ups each and their forms!

Off to the shower! Have a good day.

***VENT POST**** ALERT!!!

Read no further if you don't want to hear about sh's today. OK, about 3 days ago, sh and I got on the topic of what to do during his vacation time. HE ( as in NOT ME!) announces to me that he is going to renovate the laundry room. I am very excited at this prospect since it is in the worst shape possible. Hence began a 3 day ordeal of deciding on materials, what to do etc... Spent 3 hours online yesterday at the Canadain HomeBuilders website to download renovation worksheets and get some information to help us decide. This process is frustrating to say the east--everything I said was either no, we can't afford it, or it's too hard. Now we get to budgeting--now silly me thinks that we are budgeting on what materials/ items to put in the room, but Noooooooooo (said sarcastically), we are doing a budget for the house!! He's got everything down to a dollar sign that we outlay for the month and then sees the paltry sum we have at the end and I just glare at him and say "well, guess that's our answer, isn't it?" and I tidy up the papers and walk into the bedroom. Sh slept in the guest room. Why do men do that??? Get me all excited and then make it seem like it's my fault that we're not doing it now? Now I want to add here that we owe no one. No credit card debt, no car loans, just the mortgage. I felt like going up to him and telling him if he really wanted to make me feel small he could have been more direct about it. At least I would have more respect for him at the moment!!

OK, enough whining, I'm off to put away the groceries--have a great morning!

Default Oh, Pooky!

I'm so sorry you aren't getting your renovation done! It sounds like it is really needed with the mold and all. I think we all go thru stuff like that. I always get blamed for spending ALL the money when all I do is feed and cloth everyone!

Hang in there, sweetie - maybe he will rethink this one and come up with another plan.

Pookyyyyyy!!!
So sorry, I hate when DH is a Dink! here is a thought for you, it is how i got the master bath done. If you have mold you may be able to put in a home owners insurance claim. You might check with your agent and see if you are covered. Mold is a big health issue these days and they may be able to help...if not we chicks will come to you with hammer and nails and hang DH up by his overalls for you. :

Talking Hey everyone!

Pooky, I'm with L, let's hang him by his hammer-loops! Why is always OUR fault that there isn't enough money? What, just because we eat more???

L, I want a bike, but I'm afraid of how much of me will hang off the sides of it!! I remember the summer days fondly that my sister and I were all over this neighborhood ALL DAY LONG. And we are still both fat! Go figure

Liz, our kids have been out of school for a while now, and school starts back August 7. My dd will be 5 in July and she's starting K also, she is soooooooooooo excited!

Jenniwookie, Kel, are you two doing all right?

Sams Gran, I'm sorry you have to work today! Take my permission and don't look for the rest of this week. After all, you have to recover from today, don't you??

Annie, way to go on the 3 mile tape. I'm too much of a wimp, that sounds waaaaaaaay unattainable!

Jiff, you are getting more southern by the minute! Tell Peachie we miss her!!

Dondar, send us some rain! Flowers, what are flowers? Oh, you mean those dried up stumps along my sidewalk?

Leenie, I am SO PROUD OF YOU FOR RESISTING THOSE BROWNIES!!!!! You go girl!

Ruth, how do you like the perm? Is it monster hair?? And what gives with Raul, where is he hiding today? I think it's myyyyyyy turn already!

Here's the skinny on my day. Had a toothache for a week or so, and yesterday broke another one. Went to dentist with clenched knuckles and without taking medication for my nerves! Anyway, these 2 teeth to get root canals and crowned is $2000 AFTER INSURANCE PAYS!!! Oh, and they want payment up front! Dentures, anyone? Have a great night!
