Daily Tuesday April 16

  • Spring is finally here! I've done laundry, doggie duties, changed the beds and am ready to get out there and whip my garden into shape!

Went for a long walk with Miss Lucy yesterday. She is walking well now but still has to greet everyone by jumping up. Hershey is very envious of the walks and gives me the mournful look when I put the pup on the lead. I may take her for a long walk today and hope she does not attrack any suitors. She should be past prime time but .....

Sorry - DH is hollering we have company - only in Delta do folks drop in this early.

Will be back later. Have a good morning!
  • Good Morning Ruth and all those to come

Today is going to be a scorcher--27 celcius and don't even ask me farenheit. The news says it is a record breaking day. I dressed my wee one in light shorts and a t shirt and some simple sandals--poor kid is going to be so hot! I hauled out all our spring/summer clothing last night only to discover it is sadly lacking indeed. Miree has grown out of nearly 3/4 of her summer clothes. Dh and I have only a few things we can wear since almost everything else we own is stained, ripped, or worn right out. Guess a shopping trip is in order

Other than that I am proud to say I accomplished a lot of spring planting yesterday. Just in time too! I have a few rogue packets of zinnias to get in and some tomatoes, but essentially I'm done! I have spied some nice pansies at the hardware store so I might even do a pansy treatment of window boxes this year.

Thanks very much for all your support about my mother--I wish that she could change her ways but I know that it isn't in her nature. Many times I've been asked how it is possible I could be her daughter since we are so very different. Sometimes I wonder that myself...

Hope you all have a great day!
  • Morning ladies!!

Hope everyone is happy and healthy today!!

SHould be sunny and hot again today, I skipped out early yesterday to get our RV ready for the big camping trip this weekend. IT is my father in laws 75th birthday and we are all surprising him in Kentucky!! SHould be fun. Kids will have a ball.

Jif-your resume is on its way to Chuck.

Pooky, you are so ambitious...my window boxes have pansies in them they are awesome!

Ruth, you are way to motivated this early in the morning!!

    Have a great day everyone!!!!
  • Good morning fellow early birds and all those to come...you are all talking about planting in the garden and I am looking out at the snow that fell yesterday...25 cm at the local airport of wet heavy snow and it has not melted....it was a slow ride to work yesterday and there were lots of snow related injuries in the ER yesterday..MVA's, falls, mangaled hand (snow blower).....when I dragged my butt home last night after a 12 hour shift I almost cried and it is hard to make me cry....any how I crawled into bed with my dd's at 930 pm and I told them a "in my head" version of The 3 bears cause I don't think I could have kept my eyes open to read a word off the page.....of course incorporating a baby Bryanne bear (my dd who is 4) and a preteen sister bear (my dd who is 10) and we all had a good laugh together before we fell asleep for 8 blissful hours.......of course in my version it is always the grumpy daddy bear who gets up in the morning to make the porridge too

Well I am off to do it all again.....have fun doing all your sunbathing and gardening and we will hang in there as we pull on our snow boots for yet another day

P.S. Got a call from the surgeon's office to call today....I may be less a very irritating little gall bladder in the next week or so

    Have a good one.....Liz
  • Morning chicks!

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood! I'm a grateful Sooner today!

Food is good. Writing is coming along. Kids are good. House is 1/3 clean -- what else could I want?

Have to run to the bank this morning to pick up dd's birth certificate for her passport. Did I mention that she's going to study in Austrailia for a semester? I had to look it up on the map -- my child is going to be 1/2 a world away from me. I'm so happy for her -- also a little bittersweet when I think that if she gets really sick, I can't just hop in the car for a few hours and make it all better. We're a close family so this is pretty big...but, of course, great.

Pooky -- We had that record breaker yesterday. I'm a warm weather lover so it was fine w/me. DH, on the other hand (a northern Minnesota boy) came home from turkey lurking sweaty and cranky. BYW -- I'm also sharing your momma woes right now. Mine told me Sunday that she can't believe that I am actually her daughter -- that I must be an alien or something!

Greetings to Ruth and Rachel and the rest to follow!

Have a nice warm one! It's a gift!

    Sooner

PS Didn't mean to overlook you, Liz! I'm just a slow typist!
  • Goomba is in da house!!
Good morning to all .. it seems like forever since I left you all. I have to admit, I did attempt to catch up on all of the posts. Its funny how you miss people even though we have never met.

Well its going to be hot here today .. it will be a nice change. I need the yard to dry up so I can clean up the yard more.

My DH's mom is still holding on. It's hard that cancer is such a long drawn out way to pass. I returned home last night as we can not be without both incomes .. horrible how the almighty dollar controls your every move ... geeze!!

As for being OP with low carb/WW .. ya right .. I have great difficulty making good choices when we have to eat out. Any tips ladies?? I thought of just bringing a bagged lunch to the hospital with me but then everyone would be going out and I just couldnt sit there by myself. I had salad after salad .. and then we were invited to my SIL's for steak dinner!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMY!!! I think my steak had to have weighed about 2 lbs!! Couldnt finish it all .. but filled up on the veggies and salad!! With my luck WW will kick me out once again .. cuz I cant promise to make the meetings with all of the travelling back and forth and other things to get in order. Oh well .. I will make a meeting this week even if it kills me

Well Im off and running ... so much to do in such little time.
    Laura
  • Good Morning Kids,

Sunny and HOT here also, its suposed to be 90 degrees today. My mom yelled at me this morning because I have the baby in a short sleeved shirt and shorts that go past her knee. She said I dressed her to cold for the AM...now mind you I had a sweater on her and a blanket......My Mom is so silly sometimes...I just ignore her...then she tells me not to get offended but the dress I wore yesterday to work made me look huge....I said MOM I AM HUGE !!!!!!!!!!!! She means well but she's not no Mental Filter....what she is thinking just comes out without any regard....Its just her way, I'm used to it.....Don't get me wrong I love her more than anything....she's just a bit rough sometimes.

    ANYHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!

Goomba, I know how you feel, my Father died of cancer, he was only 54 years old....it was a long drawn out fight, very painful for him and the family. No matter what you don't want anyone to die, but at the same time you hate to see them suffer so much. Prayers for you and your family and your MIL. Eating out is tough, can you get like a grilled piece of meat and veggies ? and maybe a chief salad or a chicken or steak salad ? yum I'm making myself hungry. Good luck !!

Everybody, have a great day !!

    Love, Leens
  • Reading about all those mothers makes me glad I don't drive my DD nuts! Yeah RIGHT! That's our privilege for all the times daughters drove us nuts as teenagers. My mother once told me that I wasn't her daughter because I was too kind and honest. That tells you what kind of person she was!

Leens, I have to buy large quantities of cat food! Besides rotund Tippy the cat and Brat the monster, we feed 10-13 cats outside! And, now all the females are preggy so they're scarfing it down like crazy.

It's going to be very hot again today. Personally, it's too hot too soon, but tomorrow is going to be cooler. Am glad cause of the funeral where I'm going to be washing dishes all afternoon. It was actually too warm last night to sleep well! I stayed in the living room again and it was stuffy even with the windows open. of course, Tippy and Brat ran around like idiots from window to window, so they kept waking me. Fools!

Am off to do some errands....
  • Hey Guys! Not hot, not sunny, just more yucky weather here in Seattle. I sure hope the northeast provides more than a wet season and a wetter season! LOL!!

Sometimes, like Pooky, I sit back and wonder how this woman can be my mother. She is so very different with her morals, standards and I won't even go in to her personality. It's very sad that I can honestly say that if she wasn't my mom then I wouldn't want to be her friend. But, I will give her credit that she is a very good grandma to my girls.

I have become entangled in war of words between two friends and I'm not sure how this came about. I usually will sit back and leave this stuff alone, but apparently I was being 'too supportive' to each of them and it's not pretty. I have finally decided to tell them that they must sit down and work through this. Relationships are hard work and you have to decide if its worth it or not and if not them move on from the stress.

I have been faithful to my Pilates. Still wish I could get on the treadmill -- it's all set up. Kind of achy today, tho (excuses excuses) like I'm catching a bug.

I hope you guys all have a great day! I'm going to to soul search on the other thread! See you tomorrow!
  • Yowser! It is hot outside! An iced tea kind of day. The kind of day that makes your hair go limp and want to call the hair dresser and get if off your neck kind of day! Not to mention the I can tell I am swelling kind of day!

Not much going on around here. I did manage to talk the little guy into going to school without his hat and winter coat on...no easy job and he got off his bus whimpering about it.

Dh went to get big number lottery tickets..it is up to about 300 million...if you don't hear from me for a while it is because I am installing a new security system while interviewing spacklers...I pine for smooth even walls!

Pooky! my step kids are going thru the same thing with their mom! They are frustrated with her to no end. Hugs to you!

    all the best!

  • Hey everyone!
All this talk of cancer and suffering and tomorrow is the 5th anniversary of my father's death, from cancer. I'm having a horrible time right now, but I will be okay! I made it through the other 4 okay. I miss his words of wisdom and those incredible hugs, though!

I have sisters here! My mother is exactly like yours, Pooky! We must be twins or something! Anyway, she would give her last dime away and never remember to pay the electric bill or buy groceries. That's why she lives with me, so I can remember for her! Did I mention there's a special place in heaven for girls like us?

I'm off to pick up dd and go shopping, we need some of those carb bars and a mop. I wore mine out, is that good or bad? Ya'll have a wonderful evening!
  • good grief!!!
so sorry to read about the MOM problems. sure makes mine seem minor!!

well, with only 75 MB of hard drive space, i decided to do some major disk cleanup!!! first the defrag. it took about an hour, during which i fell asleep [must be the heat!!!!]

then the uninstall of programs. ick.

then the 'find where the heck they store all the cookies' and THAT's where the biggest impact was made. of course, i now have to log in EVERYWHERE, but since i don't go very many passworded places, it's not a big deal. and now, there's more than 400 MB free. still not enough, but it'll be a lot safer now.

went to the unemployment office to print out samples for tomorrow. nicely air conditioned, i might add. and to the manicurist to get a polish change since it was chipped. believe me, if i did it myself, it would look awful!!!!

AND all this with mom in tow. she likes the unemployment office. all kinds of interesting people there. today, there was a man wearing shorts and bright red socks. and a lovely little baby girl all dressed up in pink. and the manicurist, with that asian respect for the elderly, helped mom stand up [she never lets ME help her!!!] and helped her into the car!!! maybe mom will adopt her as the well-mannered daughter she never had??????

wouldn't be bad to have a professional manicurist in the family.

oh, and then, since i figured mom needed a treat, we stopped at starbucks on the way home and got mom a mocha. i was too scared of the sugar in the chocolate syrup [aren't you proud of me, peachie???], so i had an iced coffee with skim milk. but it didn't taste right, so when i had about an inch left, i added about a tablespoon of half and half [horrors!!! at least for those of us with this surgery]. and it nearly gagged me with its ... its... what's the word i'm looking for???? not sure. but it wasn't pleasant.

i NEVER thought i'd live to see the day that half and half in coffee would make me gag!!!!!

so, think of me tomorrow morning at the interview. maybe it'll be great. let's hope so.

have a nice evening everyone. preferably without trauma.

by the way, reading this note over, i'm APPALLED at the run on sentences. tsk tsk tsk. i'm not fixing them. it's actually the way i talk.
  • Well, a long day but a god one. I must be in the minority, my mother is great. Although she travels for 4 months out of the year she is very generous and always helps out. She lives on her own and lives her own life! (counting my blessings).

I had the sutures out today, and a review on little mans entrance exame to school. it was fun and no real red flags, just some weak fine motor skills.

Liz, I hope you get in soon!

Jiff, to you, I am really getting to enjoy you. i thought about you all day yesterday during the Boson marathon and thought about how you would be awesome. i can see you crossing that finish line!

DH took the kids to dinnr. I am going to grab a quick bite and hit the elliptical trainer. The sun does wonders for me.

Off on a field trip with the second grade tomorrow, i will bring the Motrin, to the aquarium to study the Great Barrier Reef (Australia). Should be fun, but they are saying it will be 90 tomorrow.... yikes. A Happy night to all.

    Be well,
    -L
