February and we are in a winter wonderland after a strange January. We got a dig dump of snow and freezing rain is coming down as I write. This will definitely be another stay at home day! The snow is crusted which is OK for Hershey who breaks through out there but little Lucy just gave up because she partially breaks through. Poor little pup! She has decided it will be a use the nice warm newspaper day!
Did a salmon and bok choy recipe last night - quite Oriental. I will post it later in the recipe section. My only NY resolution was to try one new recipe per week. That didn't happen when I was sick
so I am catching up now. Did an old-fashioned beef stew recipe that works in the crockpot and will do Chicken Osso Buco today.
Supposed to be sunny tomorrow so Hershey and I will resume our nursing home visits in the morning. She has been "on maternity leave" since summer and has also been trying to get her coat looking presentable. One of the rules for therapy dogs is that they must look good. Her tail is still ratty but she can just sit on that.
Sunday is my grand daughter Tayler's second birthday so we will drive into Ottawa in the morning. It will be so great to see her again. She talks very clearly and has added God Bless Hershey and Lucy to her bedtime prayers. Her parents are going on a well deserved Barbados holiday in early March so her other Granny and I will have Tayler. Other Granny has a crib and stuff but Tayler will be visiting here some days. It's only half an hour away - not the hour and a half to Ottawa.
I understand there is a game of some sorts Sunday evening? DH is already pushing for a pizza and wine supper in front of the TV. I may suggest he ask in some of his sporty pals and then I can just go and read.
I hope everyone has a great TGIF, Stay safe and warm.
Yes it's freezing rain here--been driving REALLY slow this morning to drop off everyone at their respective places. I am still going to go to the gym this morning, it's only a short distance from here and since I've already driven on that road this morning I know how bad it is. It's really just around the corner and down the ways from me.
Today is a laundry day for me, not huge loads, just really catch up. Also have to get to my disgusting bathrooms--gee when you have hard water (and it's literally as hard as tacks!) the fixtures always look dirty. I have rust encrusted everything, all the fixtures are ruined in my home since the previous owner (grrr....these people!) never put in a water softener for 18 years!!! So dh and I are stuck with the unholy mess and slowly we are getting things together and making a go of it.
Anyways, I've babbled enough--have a great day chickies!
Hey! Pooky! I don' t think that one CAN babble enough....
....well, that comes from me so take it with a grain of pepper!
Went to WW with some gals, weighed in, gained 19 pounds since last spring and came home and took a huge loan out on points. SO>>>>>>>> today, a new day, a new dawn.
I have no intention of re paying the point loan bank so I am declaring my self chapter 11 and will ask for any and all government hand-outs, fellowships and or grants.
I have my day planned food wise and will shop with not jiff and have all the girlies over for dinner. Jiff is doing great...her gesticulations are becoming more and more creative and I imagine that soon the stuff will creep out of her mouth...she has a very extensive vocabulary!
Have I babbled enough?
not yet?
oh! good...I'll be back!
Hey Chickadee....when does spring training start??? must be soon! hang in...I owe you one!
Rainy and dreary here today after 4 days of 65-70 degrees. I actually have a daffodil blooming in my yard.
Went to the Y this morning and now I am at work. Have I mentioned I am sick of my job?????? I am thinking about planning a trip to my parents in FL with the kids, I don't think DH will want to go and to be honest I could sure use a break from him.
Anyway, I am jumping on the valentine challenge. I am slowly losing about 1 lb a week but with all my exercise it seems I could at least drop 2 lbs. So I have to get serious about the food....my Dr told me yesterday that she recommends Protein Power or CAD/CALP. So I am getting out my CALP book tonite!!!
Oh Pooky, I can relate to hard water stains! When we moved here there were green crusty stains in all the fixtures. Gross! I used gallons of vinegar and scraped for days.
It snowed here-about 6 inches I'd say...maybe more. It actually looks like winter in Wisconsin. DH got out of the driveway so he took his poor self to the office.
Today, i have some cleaning to do and I want to get to the sewing room too.
Have a good weekend everyone! Where is Leens, I wonder.
Just dropping in quickly to say "hi" to the gang! Didn't get to post yesterday but I did get to chat with Ruth and Cin in the chatroom for the a minute and it was a nice little vacation!
I have to say I feel real good low carbing and it has been much easier this week then I thought it would be! Just a little plug for yall that are having trouble jumping on the REAL low carb wagon like I was!
Yea??? where is Leens??? she must be one of those working mommy types!!! busy busy busy!
I hope everybody has a great OP day - whatever that program may be!
This is quick today. I am getting ready to pack for my trip to Sitka tomorrow. Need to find a box that will fit a stroller/car seat, johnny jumper, baby back pack, etc! Wish me luck!
My friend had her baby yesterday! Don't know yet what it is but I'm very excited for her! I can't wait to see it!
I'm not sure what kind of computer access I will have while I'm away, but if I don't get to check in I will definitely be thinking of all of you and will be back the following Monday!
Have a great weekend everybody!
Oh, Chickadee ---- Head up! Back straight! Stay focused! One minor set back does not make a failure. You've done SO well you can only continue to succeed! Stay strong and smile!
Hope everyone is doing fine this morning. Tucked in and cozy, if your weather's bad -- or at least there and safe if you had to travel.
Ruth, sounds like you're having our yesterday weather today. We got 8" of snow and then freezing rain on top. Not too bad -- but is probably going to keep my chicklets from coming home today to watch the RAMS beat that other team in the SuperBowl on Sunday. I just have to say that the Rams' quarterback, Kurt Warner, is the BOMB! Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA -- graduated from my daughter's university -- even worked in a grocery store while waiting for the dream to happen -- but never gave up -- good Christian husband and father -- GREAT role model for the kids -- the BEST KIND of hero! I love him!! (Or am I in love w/him? Only the Shadow knows!) We're having Hooters wings (in honor of the cheerleaders ) and coleslaw for munchies. BTW -- wine w/pizza? That's a new one on me!
Well, lots to do today and I'm off to a pretty good start. But if I keep poking around on these boards any longer, I'll lose my spunk! (unfortunately, I do misplace it quite often...)
Have a great one, ladies!

well got to go and have that coffee as i am starting to peeter out!
What a **** of a day. I woke up feeling like I had sand in my eye, and upon inspection, it was a blister on my eyeball. Trip to the Dr. took 2 hours and they told me I tore my conjunctiver??? At any rate, now I sit here with my burning, stinging eye hiding behind an eye patch which I have to wear all weekend. There goes my social life. Dang, I have a babysitter tomorrow night, too! Maybe I could pick up a pirate?
Just went to the grocery store and am so proud of me! Stayed on the perimeter of the store except to visit the paper towels, bought NOTHING that wasn't allowed on my plan. Mama and baby will just have to low-carb it this week!
