Default Kickin' Butt Weigh-In Week 2

It's been one week since the last weigh in--are you satisfied with your progress? If you're not -- time to do a check!!

*Did you drink enough water?
* Did you strictly follow your plan?
-if not, how many slips did you have? Was it acceptable to you?

*Did you do enough exercise this week?
*Did you journal your food intake (or post it)?
*Did you get enough rest?

To have success in our programs we have to teach ourselves to LIVE our plan. That means we can't give ourselves permission to continue to abuse ourselves with food any longer! If you need to cry--cry, don't pick up your favourite tub of icecream! If you're bored, don't reach for popcorn--go and do something you've always wanted to do! If you're frustrated, take a break and do some meditation or go for a walk to clear your mind, don't reach for the chocolate! We live every day with our emotions and stressful situations and how many times do we automatically reach for the food? Live your life consciously--constantly aware that we are only hurting ourselves and our progress everytime we allow slips in our program. Be vigilant, band together as a group to support each other through the rough spots! And last but not least, be honest with ourselves, admit the slip to yourself and to someone else and pick yourself up and move on!!

Here's the stats for this week:

Last week: 216
Goal for this week: 2lbs
This week: still stuck on 216--maybe I need to drink more water!

Week 2

Dec 31-235.4
Jan 07-234.0

Lost 1.4

Results-I drank plenty of water, I exercised 4x last week, I did not eat as well as I should have and I drank wine 2 nights(which tends to make me eat more)

This week I will:

Continue to exercise
Continue to drink water
Eat right

I am glad the scale went down instead of up!!!

Default Checking In

Dec 31 - 215.5
Jan 07 - 214.5

Lost 1.0

Have not been strictly OP because of illness and definitely not drinking enough water. Absolutely no exercise unless lying down counts!

This next week
- aim for 8 glasses of water per day
- start taking short walks to get strength back in legs
- focus on healthy eating

Good morning.

My name is Joanne (Jo to my friends). May I join your group?

I was on a low-carb program this past summer and lost 19 pounds in 6 weeks. Then I hit one stressful situation after another and gained back 14 pounds. I keep telling myself it could have been worse -- I could have gained it all back and then some (like I've done in the past).

I currently weigh 260 pounds. My first goal is to lose 10% of that weight. My ultimate goal is to get down to between 145-155. The lowest I've ever gotten was 168 -- but I was starving myself and rigorously exercising a minimum of 2 hours a day every day.

I see I'm a week behind the rest of you in starting my new program. I'll do my best to keep up.

I did start a journal today to record food, exercise, mood, etc. That has helped in the past.

Hope you all have a nice day.

I'm starting Atkins Induction again today. I've gained 25.5 lbs since Thanksgiving and need to buckle down before it gets any more out of hand.

1/7/02 weight - 175.50 lbs

I'm going to give myself a couple of days before I start exercising again because I'm so bloated right now I can barely move. I'm going to stay below 20 carbs/day but I will eat 3 meals per day and snacks when/if I'm hungry (I'm bad about having the "less is better" approach to this way of eating), and will drink at least one gallon of water per day.

My birthday is Friday so DH and I had our cake and ice cream this weekend. I will not let my birthday be an excuse to cheat. It's bad enough I have to be a year older; I don't want to be fatter too!

Good luck all!
Jennifer

Thanks for starting this Pooks!

I haven't weighed in since before Christmas, but I'm going to post here anyway. My plan went the way of the wind between Christmas and New Years, but I've been back and going strong ever since, so I think the damage probably wasn't too bad.

Anyway, I had a great week eating wise with no slip ups whatsoever. I also drank all my water. Unfortunately I didn't exercise much at all because I've been sick and it hurts to breathe sometimes. So, hopefully, I will be able to exercise this week if I can ever kick this damn illness!

So, here's my goals for next week:
1. Figuring my last weigh in was 219 (down 31 pounds thank you very much!), I would like to lose 2 pounds this week.
2. I also plan to exercise with my new Walk Away the Pounds tapes when they arrive tomorrow if I feel up to it.
3. I will stay completely OP again and drink all the water again because I feel great when I do.

Enjoy the journey ladies!
Chickadee

p.s. Of course you can join us Jo! Welcome to the group.

Hi, Sue!

Yeah, it's me.

This is my third try to lose weight using a forum from this site. My first attempt was using WW. That program just did NOT work for me at all. I was starving myself and losing nothing. No one can accuse me of not giving it a good try though. I attempted WW a total of 14 times!! What a total waste of money! With what I gave them in fees, I could have gone on two cruises with DH and the three kids!

I had to go to the store (Wal-Mart) this afternoon. Dummy me forgot to eat first. So I went to there little cafe figuring to get a salad and a diet soda to hold me. There were only two items on the entire menu that were low-carb! I ended up with a taco salad (hold the chips) and a decafe coffee. Hot and filling but not really what I wanted. At least it filled my stomach so I didn't do any impulse buying in their grocery section.

Well, gotta go. DH just got back and asked me to take care of something for him.

Good evening.

Would someone else PLEASE tell me that they have fallen off of the wagon on their first day before also? I was doing so great. Felt wonderful. Then I served my home-made turkey soup (just 4 C per cup), salad, and dinner rolls. I, of course, was supposed to skip the dinner rolls. But I didn't. I ate not one but two of those GD things! The worst part is -- I don't really even care for them. They are the "brown 'n serve" kind and are rather tasteless. I just like the way they smelled.

My goal was to keep my carbs between 20-25 per day. I'm more able to keep it under 20 in the warmer weather. But during the colder seasons I find I need more food so I'm planning on more vegies and am allowing myself to go a bit higher in carbs than I will this spring. Now, thanks to thos GD rolls, I'm logging in today with 43 carbs!

I know I'll forgive myself and start all over again tomorrow but right now I'm mad enough to spit nickles!!! (Actually, since both DH and I were recently layed-off, that wouldn't be a bad thing. )

I did faithfully record every thing in my journal along with my feelings about going overboard. Now I guess it's back to the drawing board and try again. You know, I knew I'd eventually have a bad day -- I just didn't expect it to be the first day!!

Note to self -- No more fresh baked bread/rolls. Next time bake ONLY enough for DH and kids. No extras that end up in me!

Where is everyone tonight? You all are awful quiet.

Hey Joanne,
You didn't screw up! If you were following CAD, you'd be OP still, so just tell yourself that you had a wonderful first day on CAD. So it wasn't the diet you thought you were following, but you didn't do so bad. Let it go and keep at it!

Jo,

I can only tell you that lately I have to take each moment of my eating day minute by minute. Sometimes I am on and off program all day long. I refuse to completely give up for the long haul. I keep trying to hang in and stick with it.

Today could have been better, could have been a whole lot worse.

b.. 2 eggs and 1oz of cheese
l.. 2oz cheese and some peanuts and raisins (I am so dumb)
s...ham and cheese rollup
d...1 c pasta 1/2 cup of sauce (guess I should count them points for this bugger eh? )
coffee with cream.

look...no veggies

I am seriously considering breaking out the pudding!

exercise....hmmmm had a dandy snow ball fight with the boys! That should count since I was sucking wind big time!

Thanks for the cheerful notes, Chickadee & Peach Pit! They are must appreciated.

Peach Pit -- No veggies. Just make a note to get them in tomorrow. Maybe some spinache or mushrooms in your morning eggs. Some celery sticks with your lunch and/or snack. A salad or a veggie side dish with dinner. Doesn't take much. With the low-carb, heavy protein diet it's easy to get constipated. (Yuck! ) Need to sneek in those veggies wherever you can. At least you got in two fruits (the raisins and the sauce (assumed it was tomato sauce)).

Thanks again to both of you!

Hi again it is me. I have fallen enough times on my first day it is not funny that is why my knees are sore. but take it one day at a time.

I just got a note for daily inspirations

the only shape to succeed is the TRY-angle

there are a few more. let me assure that the first few days you will have the hardest time of your life. this is forein for most of us but after the first 3-4 days then you will stop having the cravings for the food. it works!1 also try chromium that also wil help with the cravings for the carbs. (can you tell i use it)

One thin i have read in the PPLP book is that the grains when broken down form an opioid compound that reacts like opium in our brain and provides us with satisfaction. and causes addiction. i was amazed that is not the first time i have read it. I will post another link for another site that states the same thing but they state it is the sugars that break down which essentially when carbs breakdwon the form sugars. that is why we have such attraction for the bread and pasta. the PPLP book is a very interesting read i would suggest it for all people no matter what plan they are on. I have not gotten to far but it sure is interesting. so in essence we area addicted to the grains like any ohter addicts. I have been saying that all along!!! When you eat something like fake crab meat like i did which has carbs that you ae not aware of (you would think it is innocent but it is made with starch!!!) I had terrible cravings and could not figure it out I even wrestled with a potatoe chip rack in a convenience store and almost endded upon the floor with it cus my cravings were so bad ( I am not kiddin it was by the grace of god that i was not on the floor!!!)

but any ways for nw when those hunger cravings hit serve anothe serving of meat, and huge veggies that does help.

Talking Still have road rash from my last fall!

I lost 10 or so pounds on Atkins my first induction. Well, then I started eating more and more carbs, until I gained all that back. Then, I started over again, but not as faithfully as I should have. By now I could have been 20 pounds lighter, but it's only 3 or 4. Bummer! But I have buckled down this week (Yay, me!) and so far so good. I'm belting myself to this wagon so I don't fall off so easily! Don't be so hard on yourself. You're human, not perfect, and if you were perfect we wouldn't want to talk to you anyway! Who needs that? Have a good evening!

Thank you, Sue & Sherrie! More moral boosters. I need them.

You are correct, Sherrie. I am only human and far from being a "perfect" one. Although, I suppose we all would have different views on what makes someone perfect.

I wanted more carbs! So bad were the cravings that I had to take myself upstairs away from the kitchen. Luckily, we have a very stict house rule. No food upstairs. In fact, the only thing other than water that is allowed upstairs is the coffee DH and I drink in the AM. (Yes, the kids grouse about how totally unfair that is. )

So far, I've drunk 2 25-oz bottles of water and will probably consume another one before bed. I have this vague thought that if I flood my stomach enough I'll be able to go to sleep without cookies or another other No-Nos.

I am definitely going to GNC tomorrow to get some of that Chromium. I need all the help I can get.

Gotta sign off. Promised DH I wouldn't stay up to midnight again.
