Wink Daily - Tuesday - Nov 6th

Morning my special friends!

3 Days and 2.5 hours left before I go on my annual leave (will be leaving early on Friday morning) I am planning on visiting my mother and father for a few days. They live in an old mining town (Stilfontein) about 3/4 hours drive form us. It used to be a very busy little town but after the mines stopped producing the town became a ghost town. There are shopping malls schools and clinic’s etc and allot of very nice looking houses. The owners of the mines decide to cell the house at a very reasonable price to elderly people, which are still healthy enough to do things like a little gardening etc.
The town is full of parks and the birdlife is spectacular. My parent just love staying in their small quite town. My mother and father are still very active for their age, for my father’s 60th birthday my mother bought him a bicycle. He had a cardiac attack 2 years ago and had to have a big operation. After that ordeal they decided to move out of the big city and go and live in Stilfontein, if I translate the name in English it means quit fountain, and that is really what the town is like.

Further, I am planning on taking my mother in-law for some long overdue shopping, we love to paint the town red when we get the chance. DH has a transport business and I am planning on going on some of his trips with him. We are planning going camping with the caravan, just the two of us. For the rest of the time I am only going to do things that I enjoy. WWWHHOOOO It seems I am planning more than I can fit into the three weeks that I am off.

Well that is all for today....

Sherri - Thanks for the instructions, I really appreciate it, I choose the flower but planning op changing it to a African violet as soon as I get a nice picture.

PS. Sorry for writing a book, it is just nice talking to you guys.

Quick good morning!

Read the Agenda for today's Heritage meeting in Brockville just now and realized it starts at 8, not 9! I'm glugging my coffee and then will toddle up a bit and leave for town at 7:15 instead of 8:15. It has better be a good conference or I'll be outta there early and Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart and ToysRUs!

See you later.

Good Morning Chickies!

First day recommited to my WOE and I am trying to take it a step at a time. I know it isn't going to be perfect for the first little while but then I'll get the hang of it all again.

Woke up at 6 am this morning with my wee one. She decided to crawl up onto a chair and dump an entire box of dishwasher detergent all over the floor, the counter and guess where else?? Inside my coffee pot!!!! AAAARGH! So I'm drinking tea this morning while the dishwasher is cleaning everything. I guess I'll have to make a run into town to get more detergent. Needless to say dh was fuming this morning when he saw the mess. Ahhh 2 year olds, gotta love them!

Putting up the last of the Christmas lights in the front of our house later today when it gets a bit warmer out. There was a very heavy frost this morning, could have sworn it was snow at first glance. They say it will warm up to about 12 degrees (I think that's 30 something for my American chicks!) All in all, a brisk fall day.

Have a good one and drink your water!

Hi Guys!!! Well it is my 19th wedding anniversary today. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and sometimes it seems a hundred years ago! We are celebrating by going to my son's first high school Athletic Banquet potluck. I doubt if they will have candlelight and wine--- Didn't do as excellent yesterday on the diet as I would have liked--will try again today!! Fortunately potluck food doesn't appeal to me. I did buy the new Somercize book---"Eat, Cheat and......" whatever the rest of it is. Haven't had a chance to read any of it yet. Not much else to report here.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Hensa, I envy you a holiday! I hope you have a good time.

Pooky, you sound like you need a hug -- ((((HUG))))

AdoAnnie, Happy Anniversary!!! 19 years is such a great accomplishment!

Hope everyone here and those to come have a fabulous day!

Default Good Morning Chickies!

Hey hey hey!

Yesterday was a good day back on track! I accomplished everything I planned to except that I did not get to walk due to unforeseen circumstances called LIFE! So this morning I got up at 5:00 and did a 30 minute walk aerobic tape by Leslie Sansone and then got ready for work - so that is already behind me!

I know this is probably a small thing but I did not even have a caff free diet coke yesterday. I had planned on having just one and didn't even get around to it because I was so busy drinking water. That is an accomplishment to me because I have been drinking wayyyyyyyyyyy too many of those things especially since I wasn't drinking the water that I should be - but that is behind me now!

So Leenie - are you gonna do your walk tape today???

Pooky - I just have to ask - why are you putting up Christmas lights on Nov 6??? wow do you mean that we have to start thinking about the holidays already??? man I'm not even ready to tackle them!

I hope everybody has a great OP day!!!

hugs, Cathy

Good Morning everyone.. Got up early but started reading on my new book "Moments of Grace" by Neale Donald Walsh and couldn't put it down. It was so nice with the house so quiet and coffee hot curled up on the couch.. But finally came to realize I'd been reading for two hours. Oh boy can I get lost in a book.

We had the "Northern Lights" here in Missouri last night and it was FABULOUS. The St. Louis news said they were here and we ran outside. To watch the most beautiful rare light show. Living in a rural area we don't have the city lights so it was quite an event. Anyone thats seen them will know what I'm talking about. A big Wowie.

Hensa- I just love to read your messages. Your vacation sounds oh so wonderful. Maybe you ought to keep a journal.....You write so interesting.

AdoAnnie- Happy Anniversery!!!!

Well I made it 20 minutes at 2 miles an hour on my treadmill. For me that was a real big deal. I have heart disease and with my heavy weight I really had to work up to it. Hope I can do it again. Still sounds like I'm walking on a meat grinder. Hey maybe I am!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all have a great day..... Toni

Just another day in paradise! We are having the loveliest fall this year. The leaves are off the trees now, but my yard is full of red and gold crunchy leaves and I'm just like a little kid running (ok, waddling) through them.

I don't have too much time because I have auctions ending on ebay that are going gangbusters and I like to watch the last minute frenzy. Call me a voyeur!

Hope you all have great OP days. Eat your protein, drink your water!
Talk to you later,
Chickadee

Hi everybody.
Hensa, I had to chuckle to myself when you said your folks are still quite active for their age. You must be awfully young when you think anyone over 60 is over the hill. My DH is 60 and still works a 12 hour day. Mind you, he falls asleep the minute his hand touches the tv remote. I'm going to be 59 in February and certainly don't think of myself as a senior (that is until I look in the mirror. I hope you have a wonderful vacation. It sounds like you've planned the perfect mix of activities. I loved Africa and hope to visit my daughter's in-laws in the Durban area some day. All we got to see last year was Zimbabwe and we certainly enjoyed it.
AddoAnnie so good to see you again. Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. By the way, I have to agree with you about pot luck food. I belong to a women's group that has several pot luck luncheons each year. I won't say that I dread them but they certainly don't thrill me. All those casseroles made with lots of pasta or rice just don't turn me on. Not to mention jellied salads. YUCK! Who invented them?
Toni I certainly do admire you for your treadmill efforts. We're having a rare sunny day here and I can't seem to force myself out the door to take a walk. By the time I decide to do it, the clouds will probably have returned. So glad you had a good view of the Northern Lights. When we lived in northern British Columbia we saw them just about every clear night from August through to March, like a silk, iridescent curtain blowing in a gentle wind. Unfortunately there are too many city lights (not to mention low clouds) here near Vancouver to ever get a glimpse of them.
Pooky your little gal's adventure with the dishwasher detergent reminded me of my #1 daughter (now 35) when she was in her "terrible twos". I was filling the bathtub for her bath and didn't realize that the little rascal had taken the bottle of liquid detergent from the kitchen and was adding it to the bath water. Before I could stop her, she'd poured most of the bottle in and I had bubbles from one end of the bathroom to the other. She was ecstatic about them but I had a heck of a time wading through chest high bubbles to even get to the tub and turn off the water.
Well, I'd better get busy on my paperwork. DH leaves for Germany on Thursday and, of course, he's piling up the work for me to do while he's gone. Can't have me enjoying my break, y'know.

Hey Ladies,

No didn't have time to do my tape today but will definitly do it tomorrow. Had to go to the store, vote and then to the in-laws house with the baby. Have every intentions of doing it tomorrow.

One thing I do not do is go Gun Ho with exercise, I start off slow and do it about every other day because if I over do it ........it will turn me off and I will quit real fast. One baby step at a time is what I say.....then I will work my way up. Same with the diet.

Love Yah
