Default I'm home

I'm home and all right! I feel like a pin cushion, but, otherwise, I'm doing okay.

Will post more later! Thankx for the kind thoughts and prayers.

Welcome back!

Are you all "fixed" or did you get kicked out for being obstreperous?

Glad to see you.

Monday morning, about 4:30, I felt my heart start racing. At first I thought I was dreaming, so I sat up. Then I had a dull pain on my left side of my chest, which started radiating to my arm and jaw. I woke hubby and he took me to the hospital. I spent abot 3 hours in the emergency room, getting poked, prodded and questioned. Then I was put into Intensive Care, where I was poked prodded and questioned some more. Total, I had 4 doctors look at me! Geesh!. I was told I had Atrial Fibrillation. To make a long story short, my upper part of my heart was quivering instead of beating and the lower part was trying to do something. Through out yesterday I was given medication both by IV and needle to lessen the chance of blood clots forming and to stabilize my heart. The needles in the stomach were a *****! Last night my heart stabilized and after spending a quiet night I was discharged.
Now, I was told that the Atrial fibrillation had nothing to do with my weight problem! Personally, I can't help but wonder that losing weight would be good for my heart.
I have to take two meds for my BP and two for my heart, plus one for edema. You'd think I would rattle!
Ruth, I was not obstreperous at all. I behaved and actually had a pretty good time with the nurses as they were OLD like Ruthie is!
I feel fine and I have had no pain since Monday morning.
Thank you all for all the kind words, prayers and thoughts. I thought of all of you so often through the day. God bless!

Default OMG! Tippy!!!!

I am SOOOOO glad that you seem to be okay. Push those damned doctors for real answers!

What you are describing sure sounds similar to what we recently went thru with DH's ex wife. She's now on BP and edema meds also. They told her that her weight is definately a contributing factor AND that her condition ALSO was affecting her weight loss efforts! Please don't hesitate to "push" the docs a bit-k?

Luv ya Tip~~

Oh Tippy, so nice to hear from you! I am glad that you are home and feeling better. I believe that most all ills can be improved by a little weight loss. Besides, it couldn't hurt.

Thanks for keeping us posted.

Continued prayers and hugs for you!

Sounds like they did all the right stuff Tip......next time call an ambulance though.....best to get Advanced Life Support to the scene when something like that happens......hang in there and take good care! Liz

Default Ambulance transport

I understand what you mean, Liz, but we live in a rural area and the ambulance is four miles the opposite direction from the hospital. Also this is a volunteer thing so it may have taken a bit for them to get organized and to get here. I felt that we made better time driving ourselves. The only things I did before leaving was to get dressed and write out whatever meds I was taken.

Also, my husband is very used to driving these country roads (avoiding deer)...in other words, he drove like a bat out of ****! LOL! We also had the cell phone with us.

Tippy glad to ahve you back. I that is a scarry thing.

I agree with liz to wait till the EMS comes as that is what they are for and although you DH know the roads and can get you there faster, if some thing were to happen in route to the hosp, what would your dh have done. stoped to give you cpr?? and how would he have gotten help then. I know it is something that is not pleasent to thinkof but it is a subject that i used to lecture the patients about. it could be a potentially dangerous situation. Please promise me that you will call the EMS???? I do not want anything to happen to you.
