Smile Girdles, anyone?

I was just wondering if anyone else wears a girdle to help with their loose skin or shifting the pockets of fat. I've worn mine today to work, and as I peel it from my sides I feel like my stomach looks smoother. I know this is only temporary since I just started it but I wonder if in the long run it'll help with the skin/fat pocket issues since we all lose fat in different places.

I just wish we could lose fat where we choose. LOL

I swore that I'd never wear a girdle after watching my mom at a young age get into those 60's contraptions. I've never even worn control top panty hose! Being claustrophobic and being a wearer of loose clothes I've never investigated the matter.

But as I'm getting a belly flap going and things are loosening up around the middle, I might need something for knits. It's mostly around the lower mid-section. I'll probably look for the easiest/mildest body shaper that I can find to do the job when I get back to the lower 48 states.

I was hoping that this wouldn't come to pass but being 55 and carrying a lot of my weight high from hips upward it was bound to happen.

I note that we are all roughly the same weight. I wonder if it's a particular phase of weight loss...this belly thing.

That's a good question, Vintage. I guess I'm really concerned and paranoid about how it's gonna look in the end if it already looks this bad LOL

I usually only wear that kind of thing for weddings and formal events. I did recently purchase a real steel-boned corset though. I may be wearing that from time to time.

This miraclesuit has changed my life. It's really supportive in the bra area and smoothes everything without feeling as constricting as spanx. The only thing I don't like about this or any shapewear like this is that it clasps at the crotch which is pretty difficult to do and undo when going to the bathroom but you get the hang of it after a while.

I've worn foundation garments since high school. Once you get used to it, it just seems normal to wear them every day. I feel kind of naked without them. I even wear something under my workout gear... I just like to be "held" in at all times. I really like the high waisted Spanx Assets products sold at Target.

My mother was one of those 1950's brides who always wore a girdle, so I grew up watching her. She mentioned when I was a teen that wearing one might help prevent my stomach from sagging (I was already obese). So, I've worn them since then. I do think it has helped over the years. And, I'm hoping that when I'm at my goal weight I'll reap the benefits of all the years of use.

I like wearing Spanx and do think it helps my appearance ... but I mostly like it because the tightness reminds me to stay vigilant.
