I put MUCH more effort into my looks as a whole. Make up, hair, clothing, shoes, everything. I have bought A LOT more clothes than I have in years. If I had more money I'd probably go shopping every day!

I reel myself in, but if I could have a fun spending spree - shoot $10,000 would be a REAL spree... not that it would ever, ever, ever happen for me, but I would have fun! |
I have had to replace every single article of clothing I own over the course of a year. I'm entering this fall wearing the same size as last year, so this will be the first season I don't need to replace my wardrobe.
I've had to buy new underwear, bras, pajamas, swimwear, shoes (my feet got narrow and shrunk as my arch sprang back up), coats, shirts, pants, shorts and dresses - EVERYTHING. So, that means I have a very current wardrobe. It also means everything will become dated at the same time too! I should have bought stock in Marshall's/TJMaxx this past year as that's where I got nearly everything. |
Nggghhhh. I didn't really need more clothes but those labor day sales...
I got four pairs of pants for $8...I couldn't walk away from that! |

I spent 42 years not splurging on clothing due to my weight and/or being very poor. I'm better off now, so I can't imagine the flood gates that will open when I hit goal. I've had to replace everything I was wearing so far, but kept it pretty limited and cheap since I've only been wearing things for 2 months or so. |

Haha, I haven't worn them... no place to wear them around here either! I'll call them my 'special occasion/Las Vegas' shoes. :) |
Shopping is less painful to my ego now, but I was the kid who never got an allowance and had to find odd jobs to do if I wanted $2 to buy a comic book...so I tend to not like to spend a lot of money on things if I can avoid it, particularly clothes (because damn, does it add up quickly...). That being said, there's a bunch of painfully cheap stores around, so I've somehow managed to accumulate 4 or 5 new dresses in the past 2 months because they were less than $10 and I needed things to wear to work that I wouldn't shrink out of (Pants and I aren't speaking at the moment...my waist size has gone from 80 cm to 68/67 cm since June. Between needing a new size practically every week and the fact that I'm between 4 and 7 cm too tall for almost all of the clothes here, I've more or less given up.) I need to start up an "at goal" fund so that I can remake my work wardrobe and still afford to eat 20 lbs from now...

I need to get my husband to read this. I love to shop. It's my favorite thing. However, I only shop at thrift stores (being in University, its the only way to support my giant shopping habit). So I can buy A LOT for $60 . I need to show him this thread so he can be thankful I only shop at thrift stores. He tries to tell me that most women don't have a closet full of clothes or like to shop like I do.

Once again, I don't always need those clothes, but now that I'm smaller I am very addicted to buying them... |
Congrats on the weight loss and enjoy the new goodies!!!!!

I used to hate shopping for clothing and shoes, now I love it. I do need to get control over it because my closets can't accommodate all the new things I've bought since losing the weight. I also feel like I've replaced one addiction (overeating) with another (shopping) and I need to get myself to a place mentally where I don't feel the need for that substitute (or find a better substitute, like keeping my house organized).

I know this is an older post but I was just thinking I had a bit of a problem with clothing stores now. My walk in closet had a few items, more sweats than anything and now I have run out of hanger and space. I loathed shopping because the dressing room lights really made me look worse than I did. Now everything fits. I spent so much and bought so much a few weeks ago the shop owner kept asking me how often I come and asked if I had lost weight because of the amount of jeans I bought. I was at 126 when I did my bulk shopping and a few pounds later some of the jeans are loose now. The hubby was kinda mad at me for jumping the gun on goal shopping. I am buying something at least once a week now. Hey I really didn't shop for almost 7 years so now I am making up for it. Ok I have to cut this short need to go boot shopping now, my calves have earned that, maybe platforms too I mean I am a little short.

I'll admit, I have an obsession with shoes. But what's even crazier about my obsession is that I will buy heels but not wear them. I'm all about comfort, but there's something inside me that feels the need to just POSSESS a pair of beautiful high heels, even though I've literally got like 10-15 pairs in my closet that I haven't worn once. And I fully expect to have a shopping addiction for clothes when I get to goal because that is my main driving reason to lose weight... Fashion! |
I remember all those times in the dressing room where nothing on the hangers fit. I'd want to cry out of frustration and anger at myself for getting into that situation. It feels so good to pick something out and know that it will likely fit. It's reward, I guess.
