Default Should I get a Montoe piercing & who has one ?!

ugh, Monroe. I stopped the auto correction 3 times and it still did it. ><

Hello ladies. Im going to hit my 20lbs lost soon and I had planned some sort of reward for myself ~ I have always liked lip piercingly and always wanted some kind, never had the courage to do it though. I've been thinking about getting in Monroe. I am not sure if I have the face for it or not !!

I got my nose pierced many year ago and love it still. I'm thinking I would get the Monroe on the opposite side. here is a clear picture of my face, what do you ladies think ? honest!

Honestly....don't do it. You are beautiful. The nose piercing is really cute. I think it is enough. The lip piercing (IMHO) would be overkill. Just my 2 cents.

lol, yeah, i hate to burst your bubble..but, imo its like one or the other (nose or monroe) and both looks "cluttered".

not to mention, the people i know and have talked to all had no problem with the nose healing to near invisibility. meanwhile, i got my monroe close to 6 years ago..i took it out for a long time because i decided i was done with it, but it never really healed over. frustrated with the hole in my lip, i decided to just put it back. i guess when i'm 30 i'll just have to bite it and take it out regardless of whether or not it ever heals.

old picture is old:

I second valalltogether. Both would be a bit much. Maybe a cool industrial or spiral ear piercing instead?

You have a beautiful face, do not do the lip piercing, the piercing you already have is enough.

Have to agree - more than one piercing on the face is too much. And anythign with the mouth can lead to problems. Just don't do it.

I've honestly never been a fan of the monroe piercing, and I agree with the others the nose and the monroe are too much together. I've got 3 holes in each ear, and I had my tongue pierced for 2 years (just took it out last year).

If you want it, and feel like it would look good on you, go for it. Because this is a general message board, targeted to people looking to lose weight, most the people on here are probably a bit more on the conservative side when it comes to tattoos, piercings, etc.

I have 4 facial piercings, and I used to have a few more. I've always been heavy into the tattoos / piercings, but I've never felt that it looked like too much. It's all a matter of opinion. So if you want it, go for it. Of course there might be people who feel it's too much for you, and might comment, but that's just something you have to be prepared to deal with.

Why don't you do a search on google images for nose and monroe piercing. You'll be able to see some pictures of other people with both those piercings, and get a feel as whether it will be too much for you or not. No one can tell you if it will be, because it's highly subjective.

I do think, however, that if you do it, it should be on the opposite side of your other piercing to balance things out.

As to the person who said it might not heal over, everyone is different, and you can never say for sure. Oral piercings in general are usually more likely to close up, and heal faster, but it will vary from person to person. Of course, you need to be prepared to have a bit of scaring if you decide you don't want it anymore, but it's like that with any piercing.

Can I ask what prompts you assume that?? [I've written and re-written this response several times, but just have to take a deep breath and remember not to be offended by the internet. :/]

OP: If you really want the monroe, get it. I think they're darling. But definitely do your research first!

I used to have one and a lower lip piercing too. I still have a nose ring but that's it now. I'd actually recommend not doing it! I only got mine pierced because I had a scar there anyway but it causes your gums to recede. The gum on that side is definitely higher up. It can be bad for your teeth too and as somebody else mentioned the scar won't heal fully if you change your mind.

I actually have looked at LOTS of pictures over the years - and I really like te Monroe's when paired with a nose ring, ESP. tiny hoops ! I don't feel they look cluttered together.

as for getting another ear piercing ; I have 3 in each lobe already that
I don't ever put anything in. I just have really long, thick hair that I always wear down. anything on my ears is never seen, so IMO not worth the time.

Luciea; I would have to agree with the conservative statement and I don't think there was any harm meant behind it and I had already prepared myself for lots of negative responses due to that. if I went to a tatoo and piercing fourm site, for instance, I bet my response would be overwhelmingly DO IT! just to give an example.

It's funny that my best friend and fiancé are encouraging me to do it ! I expectef my fiancé to be against the idea. I figured if it didn't fit my face my friend would let me know, as she's had a lot of piercings, I certainly didn't expect them to be way supportive while getting told it wouldn't look so hot by you guys ! Now I'm confused.

I am totally open minded and don't have any issues with tattoos and peircings.

However, I truly think both the monroe and medusa are HIDEOUS! My hair dresser has the monroe and i always try to picture how she would look without it. No matter what kind of jewellery it always looks like a mole until you see it close up. Maybe it is because I have lots of natural moles (and hate them!) But why on earth would anyone want to look like they have a mole? I know many will dissagree and mention Cindy Crawford and what not but I honestly think moles are ugly and hence don't like mole looking piercings either!!!!

LOL!

Well, if you like it, go for it! You could try wearing a stick on jewel for a day and see how you feel about it and if it clashes with your other piercing. Reading what people have said here, that it doesn't heal properly, I probably wouldn't get it, but then again, a tattoo is hard to cover up as well and I'd get one of those...
