Default How to determine pant size?

I am in need of new jeans/shorts for this summer. I need help in figuring out what size pants I should be so I don't have to try a million sizes before finding something that fits. Before my weightloss I fit into a few different size jeans and shorts depending on the brand. I was a 13,12 and 9 depending on the cut, and now all of my jeans/shorts are HUGE on me. I've been wearing the few pants I have with belts, and are still huge, can't even wear my 13's without them pretty much falling down. So i'm desperate for jeans/shorts that actually fit. I always dread trying on jeans as I could never find anything that fit properly, now that I've lost weight i'm hoping things will be different.

My measurements are: Bust:35in. Waist: 27in and Hip: 33. What pant size do you think I would fit into? I'll probably still have to try on a million just to get one that fits, though I'd like some sort of starting point when it comes to trying on sizes.

I'm guessing 2 or 4, with those measurements. All you can do is go try them and see what fits. Sizing is all over the board depending on brand and cut.

I have 33" hips (last time I checked) and I can fit comfortably into 0s. My waist is 24" though, but considering that most pants don't even go that high it might not matter.

I can actually fit into kids clothes, if you want to try that department, LOL. The clothes are cheaper and I find the leg length to be more appropriate. The larger girl's sizes have just the right inseam for me as I need 31". In kids I can wear a 14/16.

So if your the same size hips as me and 3" smaller in the waist i'll probably be a size 2 then like Val suggested. I may have to give kids clothes a try as I have also always had issues with the leg length being to long.

I'm hoping that since I lost the weight i'll have a better experience with buying jeans. I always had the worst experiences with nothing ever fitting and always having the gap in the back but fit snug everywhere else, though always having to wear a belt. Also always had issues with getting them over my massive thighs. So hopefully with my body smaller jean/short shopping will be a better experience, especially if I end up fitting in these tiny sizes, going from a size 13 to a size 2 would be a drastic drop

How are you wearing the same clothes after 47 lbs without completely walking out of them??

I always used to have the gap in the back too when I was heavier and I don't have that problem now. My shape also changed quite dramatically...I had pretty wide hips and big thighs!

Definitely try the kids clothes though, if just for fun, haha. My problem with pants was always that regular was too long, petite was too short. I find a lot of those kids pants are JUUUUSSTTT right.

haha yes! I'm always wearing a belt, but now even the belts are getting to big, there's not enough holes to make them smaller. And sometimes before back when I was bigger, the belts still wouldn't do anything about the gap in the back, so I would be lucky if I found 1 pair of jeans that fit, resulting me in only having 3 pairs, and 1 pair of shorts that are HUGE on me now, even though everything fit pretty snug when I first bought them. I am so hoping the gap is going to be a thing of the past

lol kids have some pretty cute stuff, lol I wouldn't be ashamed if I had to buy some jeans in their size I've also had that same issues with petites being to short regular would be to long, so if I did manage to get a pair of jeans that fit ok, with the gap in the back, my mom would always have to hem the leg. Though top wize I've recently stuck with petites as the length of the normal tops are to long making me even shorter, though sometimes depending on the make of the top I can fit into the regular sizes usually either medium or large.

I am super excited to go shopping now to find out what size I am, though I'll probably still have to wait until next weekend, and it's going to be really hard not to impulse shop before then lol

I've found that going by high hip measurements work a lot better than waist (I talk about how to do it here) since pasts very rarely actually sit at your natural waist. In terms of your hip measurement it also makes a difference if you are larger in terms of hips or if you have a bigger butt (or if you're somewhere in between). If you have slimmer hips with a bigger butt you can typically size down whereas wider hips and flatter butt (with the same measurements) have to size up.

I'm guessing you'd be a 0 or 2 but against it depends on your body shape too.

Also, waist size really doesn't play much of a role in terms of pants (really it's the high hip measurement). For instance, I typically wear about 28's, maybe even 27's now but my waist is still 29.5-30". However, I have a very straight body type so I have a small high hip measurement.

You might also have some luck with Levi's (with the different curve ids) I think they go down to 25's and 26's so I'm sure you can manage to find something.

Oh, and I think 4's would be huge on you. They fit me and I have 38" hips (but it's butt so very squishable for someone who has wider hips they might fit them with more like 36" hips, for instance).
