  • Ok, so there is lots of chatter and discussion about well fitting bras - how to fit, best brands, where to buy. Thanks runningfromfat for all of your tips - I now know my proper bra size and wearing well fitting bras has made a positive difference in my appearance and how my clothing fits.

Now - I've got the bra thing down, but I am wearing flappy granny panties from my high weight. I need to get some new panties (preferably cotton that breathes) that fit me and also provide some support/smoothing/foundation for my still jiggly tummy/rear/hips.

Any suggestions for fitting or brands? Is a high waisted brief better or low rise. Bikini or thong styles are not in the cards at my current weight.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

I wore thong styles at 285 and I wear them now - my favorite by far. But I am also interested in more supportive options now that I have loose tummy skin to keep in place!
  • Just wearing your correct size will help a LOT. I kept getting wedgies from my old pairs and realized I needed to come down THREE sizes. That doesn't happen anymore haha... I have all different kinds now, because I can . The cotton briefs from VS aren't bad. They're pretty and do a pretty decent job of holding things together. GapBody used to make some really good bikinis but I can't find them anymore, aside from occasionally at the outlet .

I really like the Hipsters from Hanes. I think I bought a package at Target? I wear them working out because they stay in place really well. I really like the waistband, it's not irritating like they can be sometimes.

    These: Hanes

    HTH!
  • Target has THE BEST SOFTEST MOST COMFORTABLE panties in the whole world. I won't buy any other underwear now!
Their sizes run a little big too, so even though I'm 232 I fit into a M or L, but I also have a firm butt.
  • I would love to find a supportive panty that is pretty AND cotton with a little lace. sonething supportive but lower than a French cut. Hipster?? Pretty everyday panties.
  • I buy only lace briefs from H&M. They fit like a dream, are comfortable, supportive and best of all are pretty to look at.
  • Good idea, I need new panties. Where did yall discuss getting a good fit on a bra? I need to read that. Mine are awful! No support and saggy. I can't find a comfortable one (I'm 213 lbs) that holds in back fat and supports the boobs.

Yeah, I definitely wanna know what RunningFromFat said. My bras are way too big. And I cant find new bras that fit well.
  • Guac......get you a few thongs!!!! You are less than I am and I won't wear anything but thongs. (well maybe the occasional boy shorts) Honestly, I want to feel sexy. Anything but thongs feels like granny panties to me.
  • This topic has been on my mind, because I, too, am unsure what panties to buy/wear. I need/want something to hold my tummy in - I have a lot of excess skin there, plus scar tissue from surgery that makes my lower stomach pooch out a LOT. Any good tummy-holding panties that anyone can recommend? I definitely prefer cotton if that's an option.

Edited to remove the TMI! Seriously need to get that figured out though.
  • Thanks for the ideas. I think I will head to Target. I have Hanes and Fruit of the Loom in sizes 9 and 8. I think I need to look into size 6 or 7?

  • For those with bra questions.....Layne Bryant and Vicki's Secret will measure you. I think Fredricks will too (not sure though)

come on Guac......get at least one thong
  • Ok. I will spend decent money on a bra but I will not spend $$$ on panties!

I always go to Target or Walmart for mine. Very comfortable and there are a lot of options. I like boyshorts or bikini. I will never get the thong, haha! There are so many kinds there though, you'll have so many to choose from and you can usually get quite a number of pairs for not a lot

Sometimes I snag a few at the dollar store near me. Usually they're ones that are considered slightly imperfect or something (and thus the manufacturer doesn't sell them to the stores) but they're fine to wear and I never notice wtf is wrong with them anyway.
  • I always get full coverage panties because I want as little of a pant line to show as possible and I don't want flab/loose skin flopping over the panty top. That will make me feel gross. I buy mine from target too and get silky ones for pants to slip ove morer easily. I've nevere had problems with yeast infections and the like, so I don't have to worry about wearing cotton. Though for summer cotton might be cooler.

I need to buy new undies too. I bought some about 40 pounds ago and I'm noticing that they are beginning to shift and move and that is not comfy.
  • Targets panties are really pretty too! They have super sexy ones and cute little lacy soft ones too.
