Odd things you do after weight loss...

Lately I'll just have my arm stretched out along the couch, and I'll look down and be like "wtf, it looks so thin." And I'll just stare at it.

Or I'll put my hand on my bent knee. And then start rubbing it. And thinking "it feels so weird and bony".

Or I'll go to scratch my neck and end up running my hand along my jawline and thinking "I really can't feel a doublechin, or almost any fat."

Obviously, I still have a ways to go in weight loss.. but there are certain places where I think I've lost more weight than others and it's both inspiring and a little bit freaky. Like if you lived in a house and the rooms slowly started changing over time. "Did that cabinet used to be there?" (Ok that would probably be far more upsetting.. but you get the idea.)

I was just curious, am I the only weirdo who does this or something similar? :D

whitelikechalk 09-11-2011 08:52 PM

I always run my fingers along my jawline and touch my double chin fat to see if it feels bigger or smaller. I also always touch my collar bones, i love seeing them.

juliana77 09-11-2011 08:58 PM

I confess. The first thing I noticed was while driving a few months ago - my wrists looked SO thin all of a sudden. Now I'm constantly feeling for new bones & checking myself out :)

Rated 09-11-2011 09:14 PM

I do the same thing. I touch my collar bone way to often. Also I noticed the other day when I was laying down that I had hip bones... so I had to poke them lol.

Veal2Steel 09-11-2011 10:35 PM

I heard about a woman who woke her husband out of sound sleep crying hysterically. She reached down in the middle of the night and felt 2 hard bumps on either side of her pelvis. She was sure she had matching tumors, but he reassured her they were her newly appearing hip bones!

josey 09-12-2011 09:41 AM

Same here, I am surprised by every bone I encounter. Hip bones are no fun though. I bump them a lot! Or I bump my arms on them. Haha

Cracker 09-12-2011 10:38 AM

One of the first things I really noticed were my hip bones and I remember talking about this to someone who was just like : "hum...okay", probably not realizing what it meant to me, haha.

boomerang 09-12-2011 10:53 AM

Unfortunately I am offering this from memory, but perhaps I will re-experience it again at some point: being able to cross my legs above the knees ;)

bonbonj24 09-12-2011 11:25 AM

Love the cross legs above the knee!!! Even at my skinniest, 140 high school weight, size 6, my thighs were so muscular that it wasn't comfy to cross them above the knee, so I am holding out no hope whatsoever on that, lol! I am constantly feeling my ribs and hips, standing with my arms crossed or hands on hips, ha ha!

aka8941 09-12-2011 11:32 AM

yesss the double chin thing. I also feel my cheeks, to see if they sucked in a little bit. I pinch my arm fat, or like wobble it. lollllll I don't have bones yet, but I do have less fat every day.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has never found this comfortable!!

boomerang 09-12-2011 10:52 PM

Bonbon and Running, my arms have always been so enormous (no matter my wt.), that I figured crossing my legs was a little gift from the universe. I NEEDED to make it up to me!!!! :D Momentarily my ankles are the only ones capable of performing that feat...:p

tkdtara84 09-13-2011 12:01 AM

I lay in bed in the mornings for a few extra minutes and feel my hip bones and my tummy-- it's so exciting when the tummy starts to sink IN instead of pooching out!

This is silly, too-- I've always had pretty nice legs, but losing weight makes them look awesome, lol, so I always stick them up in the air and admire them for a quick minute before getting out of bed. :)

GonnaTurnHeads 09-13-2011 12:22 AM

I'm always feeling my collar bone.... When I'm laying on my back, I will feel the knobs of my hip bones, too.

The other day, I was waking up and I had my knees were up. I looked down at my thighs and they didn't even look like my own thighs. I just stared at them.

Also, whenever I get back from gym and my leg muscles are all tight, I will lay down and extend my leg and look at all the muscles and the new definition in them.

I love it sooo much!! When I take off my shirt in front of a mirror, I always raise my arms above my head because I'm waiting for the day when I see ribs!

Same here!!! Or I do it when I'm in the bath. Hahaha..

sontaikle 09-13-2011 06:14 AM

I let my fiancee pick me up. Before I used to squirm out of his grasp because I could see him struggling to hold me. Now I let him pick me up all the time! :) He can even carry me around bridal style now and I'm perfectly content to let him do that. He's over a foot taller than me, so I guess it's easy for him now! :carrot:

Slammer 09-15-2011 05:56 PM

Wow! And here I thought I was just odd... I touch my collarbone a lot (I love seeing it!) and recently discovered that those huge blobs of fat that were my hips actually had bones underneath. It was an odd feeling. Today, after I got home from the gym, I started feeling my shoulders and was surprised to find that my arm and my shoulder were bones covered in muscle, not fat!

Oh I can't wait till all this happens to me! Lol

getncontrol 09-15-2011 10:22 PM

Hip bones, collar bones, ribs and most recently my shoulders. I love to look at them. All of a sudden I have these beautifuly thin shoulders.

fromthebox 09-16-2011 11:16 PM

Shoulders. I find myself rubbing my shoulder all the time.

TyZzyzx 09-17-2011 04:43 PM

Ive only lost 21lbs so far, but Ive noticed my waist tucking in a tad and making my hips more pronounced, Ive been feeling my curves constantly! Good to know I'm not the only weirdo! ;)

Yesterday while in line at the bank, my husband had to tell me to cut it out because i kept running my hands up and down my sides and people started looking at me funny :dizzy:

Leaves 09-22-2011 04:04 AM

Wandering around with my hands on my hips all the time as I can feel the muscles in my sides tightening up!

melodymist 09-22-2011 04:14 AM

The past week I've been feeling my hipbones more and my stomach is flat :D

I feel my chin and jaw line the whole time haha

Maggie27 09-22-2011 12:56 PM

I can't wait to see the changes you are all talking about! I've only lost 10 lbs so far, but my pants feel more loose.

I've never been at my goal weight, so I'm not really sure what I'll look like after losing it all. I'm so excited though!

liliesinmycereal 09-22-2011 01:29 PM

I find myself looking at my biceps more often. Also I love how I really have a chin now.

EagleRiverDee 09-22-2011 02:02 PM

I've noticed my hands getting thinner- I am actually ALMOST ready to start wearing my engagement ring again (I didn't have it resized after I gained weight, just my wedding band). I can see veins in my hands again and I remember the last time I had a procedure at the hospital what a hard time they had giving me an IV because they couldn't find a vein and I think, maybe that won't be an issue now.

Michelle2008 09-22-2011 02:03 PM

I love standing with my hands on my hips now!! And really love those collar bones!

mamato2boys 09-25-2011 04:51 PM

Haha, same here!!!! :)

mj5 09-26-2011 12:55 PM

Oh my goodness, yes...I keep touching my shoulders, I almost always stand w/ my hands on my hips (love feeling how much smaller my waist in now...), and I actually look at myself in the mirror while lifting weights. Ok, I am really watching my form...but, of course I notice how much better I look these days!

rainydays 09-26-2011 01:50 PM

Pretty much everything that has been mentioned! :D

Aunty Jam 09-26-2011 03:05 PM

Anyone else play/fiddle with their extra skin? Ok, don't dismiss me as a total weirdo... but I find myself pinching and pulling at it... I sometimes leave bruises on my arms becaues I'm always fascinated.. there use to be fat there. My arms, tummy and neck are the places I do this (and sometimes even the tops of my boobs).

I'm a runner and I am also fascinated by the muscle definition in my lower legs... I will never forget the first time I noticed that. It's like a whole chunk of fat fell off and left this carved muscle behind. Sometimes I just look at it and feel it.

rubidoux 09-29-2011 04:15 AM

AuntyJam, I do fiddle with that skin. It is somehow disturbing and exciting at the same time. lol But the thing that's killing me is that my 8 year old son is intrigued by it. He wants to play with it all the time. And he's always trying to jiggle various parts of me. I'm not sure if I'm annoyed or if it's sweet.

The part that always surprises me when I see it is my lower thighs. I definitely spend more time staring at my thighs than the average person. My stomach has also made huge progress. I had looked maybe five months pregnant since my 2 1/2 year old was born and now I don't look pregnant at all, I just have a bit of pudge. And I have ankles again, thank god. My ankles have never been delicate looking, but I am so glad to have them at all. :carrot:

When the hips and shoulders and collar bones start popping through, I'll think of this thread.

Sunshine73 09-29-2011 10:14 AM

The other day, as I was driving to work, I happened to glance down for some reason. I was momentarily caught off guard because what I was seeing didn't look like me. There was so much room between my belly and the steering wheel and I could see SO much of my lap. It was weird.

Also, I fiddle with the skin - it's weird but I can't seem to stop.

jrawson21 09-29-2011 10:35 AM

I am checking to see if my double chin has gotten any small now that im reading this.. thanks guys! :)

everettsisk 09-29-2011 12:26 PM

Actually after a bad experience of being fat when someone gets slim...people gets so happy that they themselves don't realize what they are doing..they don't even feel that they are doing something weird or odd...it happens!

Lisa532 10-01-2011 04:47 PM

When I was at my highest weight... I couldn't wear a watch or bracelet.. which I would love to wear!! Now, I can.... !! I am far from my goal, but the little rewards along the way are so nice..!!

Dani84 10-05-2011 08:24 PM

I always pull up my shirt and look at my stomach in the bathroom. Also, yesterday I noticed my watch was starting to get loose, and I couldn't stop playing with it. I can't wait until my fingers shrink and I can wear my favorite rings again without fear of them getting stuck!

YES - this! I noticed today that my "apron" is almost COMPLETELY gone and I cannot stop tripping out on how my stomach just leads to my hip bones and down to my thighs, no rolls, no folds, no anything!

baker23 11-09-2011 08:17 PM

I'm always touching my collarbone. Still can't believe the top part of me is small enough now to have them protrude out. =O....and I'm always sitting indian style. I couldn't never do that in middle school or highschool, but now that I can, its a natural and comfortable way to sit :)
