I'm not talking about my boobs, they've pretty much disappeared...it's hopeless.
I'm talking about a "hope chest" for new clothes! I bought 2 pairs of jeans and an army green pair of cargo pants which fit me like a glove,I loved and I got great deals on them. The next day, I went back and bought all 3 again, but one size smaller to have as an incentive and packed therm away. I figured I better get them now,or a) risk not finding anything I like when I need them, or even worse b) paying much more! Am I setting myself up to be on one of those hoarding shows? Lol. Does anyone else do this?
I've done that, too. Some of my "hope" stuff comes from Goodwill. I shop there sometimes if I need to fill in while losing weight, and if I find something awesome that's too small, I'll buy it if it's really special. I don't like to spend too much money on stuff I can't wear at the moment, and I never buy below a 6 because I'm pretty confident I can hit that.
In the past (we're talking ten years ago, my struggles have been lifelong), I've been burned. I bought some stuff that was just a size too small in high school, and they yo-yoed through college, and by the time I got into it in my mid-twenties, it was out of style or just didn't fit quite right (too short, etc.). You have to be careful so you don't end up wasting a bunch of money, but yes, I have done this.
I've also done the thing where I keep the receipt, set the deadline, and if I'm not into the clothes by the time the receipt is about to expire, I take them back. It provides some motivation to not dawdle about.
This time I'm fairly confident since I lost almost all the weight pre-baby, so now it's just doing the last part over, and it's going well. I love pulling out my clothes that I packed away during pregnancy and fitting into them all again little by little. It's awesome to add stuff back to the closet!
I have a closet full of all different sizes so I can always find something that's too big, just right and too small. I can now fit into almost anything in there except for a 1 pair of pants and 2 pairs of jeans.
Yeah, I have a storage tote full of too-tight jeans. Although they all used to fit, I'm working on getting back into them. I can't bring myself to buy too much stuff that's too small - I don't want to buy something and then have it be out of season when it fits.
I have three big bins of clothes that don't fit! All the way don't to a size 4! They are my former clothes, and some of them still have tags. My partner tells me to get rid of them, but I refuse because I know ONE day I will get into them! Giving them away is like giving up on myself, and I won't do that.
Half my closet was my Hope Chest. I was buying things too small while I was losing weight. It worked out well for me. But I did notice that my style changed as I got smaller.
I've got a few old things (mostly jeans and knit tops) that are a size or two smaller than what I'm at now. I've bought a few tops, and those were bought for motivation and because I knew they might not be available when I could fit into them. I think the smallest is probably a size L, but most are XLs, 18s, and 20s.
Yes! I've been buying things when they are on sale, in smaller sizes. Case in point...I saw a great pair of skinny pants at The Gap, regular $69 and on sale for $12.00 -- I ordered a size 16, 14 and a 12. I wear the 16 now but hope to soon move on to the 14 (different colour) and eventually the 12 I have a bunch of stuff stored away from other 'great deal' finds. The worst that can happen is that I'll lose weight too quickly and won't be able to wear them next summer because they will be too big. I can live with that.
I have things I wore before (as in from the past 12 yrs), some with tags on still (stuff I got on clearance then found out I was preg), and I had a few things that I bought after my daughter that I wanted to get into ( I got preg with my son instead). I kept most of it. There are things I wore that even if I fit back into, I wouldnt wear bc I'm not 20 anymore like a holographic tube top and deep slitted mini skirt.
I know I will get back into these clothes now. I have the drive I never really had before. I made a list from biggest to smallest of all my fav clothes I want to get into. I put my estimate for the weight I was when I wore it and left room for the date I wore it again and for my actual weight. So far I have 2 filled it out, pants from 2 yrs ago. Only 15 more items to go, which I plan to fit into by Aug of 2012
