I wonder if anyone else finds low rise jeans to be uncomfortable where they feel like they are falling off all the time and just not sitting right. I am finding that since I wear smaller jeans now (about a 10 in petite length) most of the cute styles are usually low rise. I love the look of low rise jeans but they never seem to fit me right. Perhaps it is because I am used to jeans that sit at the navel, but I feel like I am constantly pulling them up. I have tried different sizes and fits but nothing feels comfortable. I have a couple pairs that I usually end up wearing with a belt but they still don't feel quite right and a belt usually causes my back to hurt more as I have serious back issues. I wonder if it is because I am more of an apple shape with a waist that is only a couple inches smaller than my hips. Is there a proper way to wear low rise jeans so they stay in place and cover everything properly lol. Maybe I just don't have the right body shape to wear them...hum
Height: 5 ft 8.5" athlete who can give a punch & certainly take one too! :)
First & foremost congrats on your loss, you look uber great!
As far as low rise jeans, that is what I live in! I highly recommend silver brand jeans, they fit AWESOME! Maurices, The Buckle, Younkers, Macy's etc. all carry this brand name, unsure if Canada eh has them? I am a curvy girl with a jlo booty & ample hips & a tiny waist & SILVER brand aiko jeans fit me like a glove & do my body shape a lot of justice, lets just say these jeans accentuate the positive & when I don a belt, no butt cleavage either! I love the flare leg too which help balance out my broad shoulders & they have a bit of stretch in them, but it is not the stretch that bag out either. They are not cheap, but they last a long time I have numerous pairs. Here is a link of the low rise that works wonders for me! If you have a store near you check them out & try a pair on or perhaps the ebay route. http://www.maurices.com/product/inde...ductId=4028280

I prefer low-rise jeans to hip-hugger jeans because they fit sooo much better! But yes, I do think the shape of your body plays a big factor in how well this style will "fit" and "compliment" you. I'm 5 foot with short legs and a somewhat compact butt (it's all squashed in there), so low-rise jeans actually fit just about waist length for me and stay put!
I have a lot of thigh weight so I find low rise tricky because they creep down where they are pulling on my thighs. Get them to fit my thighs and the waist is gigantic so they fall down because the waist is too big! It takes a while for me to get a good fit.
But it may just be because you aren't used to it. Try to put them on and just leave them alone for a whole day, don't pull them up and readjust them (unless they become indecent!) and if they don't expose your panties then it's just the unfamiliar sensation and they aren't falling down really.
Sweetnlow, congrats on your loss! You look amazing! Regarding the jeans, I would try to look for a mid-rise (8-8.5" rise) rather than a low rise. They are tricky to find but worth the effort. I'm a rectangle with a thick waist and long waisted as well. I do have a couple of low rise jeans (DD24's castoffs) but try to wear longer tops with them. A belt is also helpful.
I hate this new style. I feel like they're made for standing. The do look awesome when we're standing. I don't know about all of you, but as the mom of two boys I'm forever bending over, sitting on the floor, sitting in exposed back chairs (like a kitchen chair) and generally living life. All movement outside of standing exposes my underwear, and I wear hipster underwear, not grannies. I'd rather my underwear showed than my anatomy, but that's not much of a choice.
I'll try the brand suggestion. I'm very frustrated in the jeans department. Right now I own one pair of "Right Fit" jeans from Fashion Bug, and even those show my underwear. And I own an old style pair from Gap that I found at the thrift store with tapered legs and high waist. I hate the tapered look, but I love the waist!
Here is a couple of links to jeans I love that come in a midrise. They're a bit pricey but well worth it. The Rocky Mountains, and Cruel Girl brands are my faves.
Thanks gals. I had some laughs with your replies I will give the jeans another shot with a better brand but I think I may stick to mid rise in the end. I think us rectangles are not made to wear a pair of half-waisted jeans that require hips for support, without showing off the goods in the back. My favorite type of jeans are a lighter material with some stretch. I hate the heavier denim that feels restrictive. Maybe I can find some thinner Silver jeans like this. A second hand store might be the way to go until I get used to the style. I have been buying most of my clothes in good second hand consignment stores lately, as my size seems to change every month.
LOL, I have the same problem. I call them "Plumber's jeans" because, well that one's pretty obvious.
I am not apple shaped. I'm more pear or hourglass shaped and I have lots of booty and thighs. I can't wear low rise jeans because of this. Not only do they slide down to show crackage, but I end up with muffin top unless I get them too big, which causes them to slide down even more. I'm just not built for low rise. I get mid-rise jeans. I find that there's not much of a difference in the way you look in them, they just don't slide down as much, nor do they show 5 inches of butt-crack when you bend over.
First...WOW! You look amazing! Congrats on your weight loss.
As for the jeans, I'm in the 'mid-rise' category. I can't stand high-rise as I'm still a pear with plenty of width to my lower half (I was soooooo hoping it would go away...it didn't!) and a long waist (low rise gives me plumber butt while STANDING!). But, the mid-rise fits great & I don't feel like I'm constantly hiking them up.
Also, brands definitely fit different from one another, so try, try, try! I really like the INC brand (Macy's). Lots of cute choices & cuts.
Good luck. The quest for the perfect pair of jeans is never-ending!! Fun to shop in all those smaller sizes, though!
I wear the mid-rise jeans, too, but I have a problem with them. When I sit down, they gap in the back. It's very frustrating. If my shirt isn't long enough, then you can seen my undies. What do I do about this? At first, I thought I could go down a size, but I can't.
Well, I do like the lower rise jeans. Luckily I find ones that aren't too low and show my butt crack. I also buy them with some stretch in them. That seems to help some.
The higher waisted jeans are just too uncomfortable for me these days (mom jeans, etc.). I don't like anything up that high on my belly. I hope they don't ever come back in style.
You look awesome btw!! I last bought 12 petites and am hoping to be in a 10 petite by the time I hit my goal.
Old habits die hard. I had always tried to wear my jeans to conceal my belly (jeans worn just above the "line" of fat) and I still feel SO vulnerable if my jeans hit below that "line" on my now-negligible-but-still-existent belly bulge.
Low rise jeans have never been appealing. Too hard to hide behind.

I'm short waisted, so I carry a majority of my weight in my stomach and I too used to be uncomfortable with low-rise jeans for that exact reason. Now that my waist is so much smaller, however, low rise jeans are the perfect fit. I'm built like a stick, so no plumbers crack here! lol.
