I just went for a cut on Saturday and asked for an 1-1.5" cut off, and I ended up with more like 3-4" removed
My hair was touching the tops of my shoulders and now it's a jaw-length bob. My hairdresser is usually awesome so I'm not sure what happened, blah! Next time I am going to be much more watchful, that's for sure!
So now I'm intent on growing it back as quickly as possible
What are your secrets to doing so? Certain shampoos & conditioners? Supplements? Routines?

I have waist length hair. My "routine" consists of drinking plenty of water, taking a daily hair, nail & skin vitamin as well as prenatal vitamins and NOT washing my hair everyday. Most days, I just rinse my hair and use conditioner on the ends. I also always use a spray on, leave in conditioner and a wide tooth comb. When I do shampoo, I use something sulfate & paraben free. Moroccan oil is my favorite, I get it at Sally's.

Honestly my hair started growing CRAZY fast when I beefed up my diet with a lot more veggies...water is also key! And I only blow dry my hair when it's absolutely necessary so it doesn't get dry and brittle...
I have had waist length hair all of my adult life. Flax seed oil. For real.
Don't be afraid to cut off scraggly ends. Length is nice, but healthy ends are better. Here is a recipe I use for a hair mask.
The link can be found on food dot com. Searching for caramel treatment. My post count is not high enough to link it.
"I have waist length hair and this keeps my length looking shiny, soft to the touch and less frizzy. If you have very fine hair wet your hair down and leave it in for two hours. This is excellent on course hair as well. I have a girlfriend with African heritage and it works wonder on her hair. You can substitute a jar of plain banana babyfood for the bananas. This recipe works well if you only use the bananas, one liquid oil (olive or almond), one solid oil (shea or coconut) and one runny sweet (molasses or honey). If you don't have everything on hand do not sweat it. This freezes well."
Ingredients
o 2 bananas, overripe preferably
o 1/4 cup oil ( a mix of olive oil and almond oil. more course the hair, more olive oil)
o 1/3 cup honey
o 1/4 cup molasses
o 1/4 cup shea butter (shea butter for more course hair) or 1/4 cup coconut, oil ( shea butter for more course hair)
Directions
1. Peel the bananas. Put in a sandwich baggie and freeze.
2. Once frozen put in the microwave and zap for 10 second blasts till soft. Freezing then microwaving really breaks it down so there are not lumps.
3. Put the shea and/or coconut oil in with the banana and zap till the oils are liquidy.
4. Put the almond oil/olive oil mixture into the blender. Drop in the banana oil mixture. Blend for 2 minutes.
5. Add honey and/or molasses. Blend for 30 seconds.
6. To use:.
7. Brush your hair out,.
8. If you have fine hair wet it.
9. Pull your hair back into a ponytail.
10. Apply the mixture.
11. Wrap your hair in cling film and us a hair tie to bun it.

I can't praise Moroccan oil enough! If you have a Sally's near you, do yourself a favor and check it out. Right now until 9/30, they have a buy 2 get 1 free deal. I bought the shampoo, conditioner, restorative mask, and the treatment. Another added bonus is, it smells great!
I have been growing out my hair for a while now.. gone from a spikey pixe to almost bra strap length now, Mine is rinsing every other day, and using a diluted shampoo then condish (unless I have been sweating bad)
I wear my hair up everyday. In a bun when biking.. use a wide tooth comb, treat it nice. and just ignore it as best I can.
Its taken me a long time to grow it out.. because I was sacrificing length for clean ends
Well, my hair is down to the start of my thighs. I haven't cut it since I was in middle school. I'm almost 24 now. I did trim it a few years ago, though. I hate to say it, but I really don't take all that great care of my hair. I accident hang it in doors, windows when I walk by, step on it with my knees when getting out of bed, and my brush is broke at the moment so I need to buy a new one so I can detangle it every day.
But I have heard that some women swear by catnip tea. You can look it up.
My hair is long enough for a hairbra (about 1 inch below nipples) but it's super ratty and gross. I'll be using some of these treatment suggestions once I get the split ends chopped off!
