Hello!

I'm having a little problem. I'm 32 years old, and when I look at the clothing out there in the stores, it looks like Junior's is too young for me (obviously... I'm no teenager!), but Women's clothing seems too old-looking. Am I being weird? Is there some other categorization of clothes that I have forgotten that is in between the two?

Another problem is that I'm sort of a small size. When I do look in the Women's section for jeans or something, they don't even carry my size. Where on earth am I supposed to shop???

it would depend where you are from, im from the uk and usually shop at river island, new look, next, international etc they dont really do womens or juniors just usually sizes ranging from, 2,4,6,8,10,12 etc or small medium or large

I don't really shop at department stores so I'm not sure if there's some kind of an intermediate between juniors and womens.. maybe misses? I dunno

I would suggest clothes from stores like Express and Arden B. They're definitely youthful and fun and not old-looking, but are still wearable to the office/past one's 20s.

Yeah, you need to get out of department stores. I agree with Express and Banana Republic and NY&Co... places like that should work for you.

White house black market! Every time I look at their catalog I drool, usually over multiple items. Every time I need a go-to dress, I go there.

Some of the stores mentioned in this thread are amazing. For me, the key is figuring out brands that work or represent how I want to look. I'm in my early 30s as well and not at all ready to look matronly. A lot of department stores have what they call a "Contemporary" section. The clothes are younger looking than those in the Misses/Women's department, without being teenybopperish. You might want to look at Nordstrom (I like the clothing in their T.B.D. and Savvy departments), Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and other major department stores' websites as well as those of some stores mentioned by other members. Even if you don't buy anything, window shopping online is a great way to get to know who sells what and what styles/brands might suit you.

I am 45 and have the same problem! The juniors section seems a bit young for me as well but the womens section is awful. I mean who really wants to wear "comfort banded jeans" and loose fitting tops all the time? Maybe my grandma.
I still haven't found the perfect mix for me but my job allows me a bit more creativity than most. I drive a schoolbus and the dress code tends to be anything from pjs to dresses, LOL And I've seen it all. Heck I could wear a Halloween costume to work and my kids would think that was just wonderful

Misses is generally the sizes you should go for in a department store, some misses clothes are 'older' looking so you have to look.
