Default Business suits for women?

I'm going to start needing business suits for work- but I don't have a lot of money- I'd like to get some for now around $100 till I can afford some more expensive ones- anyone know some good stores I can go to?

One friend has told me Sears which I will check out this weekend but their site shows mostly suits with a skirt sets and there are times I'll need a good suit with pants also.

I wear a size 16 jeans comfortable and medium tops if that helps at all.

Thanks!

Lane Bryant has fantastic suits, but they are $$$$, so I get mine at gabrial brothers, which is similar to TJ Maxx/Marshals. See if there's one near you. I got a nice suit size 22/24 for $30 for both peices. I also get my jeans there ($5-10/ea).

If you are a size 18, you might be able to find some stuff at Kohls also.

JC Penney might have options in that price range. I've had some good luck there, but obviously your fabrics aren't going to look as good as more expensive suits.

Thanks! Yeah I mean I wish I could afford something more expensive but I'd HOPE that the job's I'm interviewing for understand that while I am TRYING to look nice I can't afford to buy the expensive stuff- and the reason I need a few (3) is cuz the place I'm interviewing for has THREE different interviews I have to do- all different days- so I can't wear the same thing each time...

I just checked out JC Penny's site- SCORE! They have a ton of stuff I'd wear- now I just hope I can get them in my size

How about a black jacket, black pants and a black skirt? Then you can mix and match the tops you wear underneath. I don't think you need 3 suits. They will not remember that you're wearing the same jacket or pants (if you wear different shirts - some kind of print one day and then a nice solid the other day etc).

I second the TJ Maxx suggestion. I get a lot of stuff from there.

In an interview, no one is going to be looking at your fabric quality, at least not usually, anyway. The reason a fabric would matter more would be if you were looking to get a lot of wear out of them, but for interviews, they do just fine.

Have you considered getting a wardrober like this: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?deptid=50434&catid=52011&grptyp=SIZ&itemid =165c606&attrtype=&attrvalue=&refpagename=X3%252Ea spx&refdeptid=50434&refcatid=50443&cmAMS_T=X3&cmAM S_C=C1&CmCatId=50434|50443

You'd get a pant-suit and a skirt suit out of it, and with different shirts and accessories, could probably go to all 3 interviews.

I would go with one nice fitting suit too--and bling it up (conservatively) with scarves or whatever.

I got a beautiful Calvin Klein Suit at Ross for much less than $100.I buy a lot of clohes at Ross , big discount and name brands. I bought another suit at Macy's when they were having a half off sale. This was around $100 or a little less. Watch for sales , when Macy's is having a sale they have good prices otherwise they are too expensive for me. Ross always has good prices , you just need to check them often as stock goes in and out fast.

PS , don't forget a blazer. A red blazer can be worn with, black pants, navy blue pants, beige pants and looks great with white pants. You can wear a blouse, shirt, tee shirt or sweator under the jacket , Different pants and different blouses, maybe a scarf all change the look. By the way I bought a brand new red wool blazer at Savers for $4.00.!!!

My "good" suit is from Zellers (I suppose that's about the equivalent of KMart) I got it off a sales rack for $7 pants and $12 blazer. They were not the same size. I took them to a seamstress here in town and for another $25, I have a suit that fits me perfectly!

That's what catches the eye, not necessarily fabric, but your overall silhouette.

Mine is almost black with a teeny tiny pinstrip that might be either blue or green. I wear it with almost any colour blouse or tank. You'll get a lot of mileage out of a suit like that. I sure do.

I definitely will I'm so nervous about this next part (it's for my dream job if you want to check out my blog), I already took the first test and passed and for that I wore a business casual outfit (slacks, nice shirt, nice shoes) but everyone I work with said don't bother going to this next round without a suit... So here I am...

I'm actually afraid to enter the shopping centers this weekend lol- I'm going to try Sunday- hopefully get out of there alive
