Default Dresses and skirts

I’m basically swimming in all my pants now, and I know pretty soon that they’re going to need replacing. I’d like to go to wearing all or mostly dresses/skirts because they’ll last for longer as I keep losing weight, but I know that I’m stuck with the dreaded chub rub for quite awhile. I do have pettipants that I can wear under skirts and dresses, but I have a real problem with those riding up.

Has anybody else gone the dress/skirt route? How did you do it and how’s it working? For that matter, does anybody know of a really good way to combat chub rub?

I always wore bike/exercise shorts/leggings under my skirts and dresses. You can also find some skorts--you know, the skirts with shorts. The bike shorts/legging routine always worked for me.

Panty hose. But then I'm one of those people who actually like wearing hose. I even wear it under my pants to keep everything pulled together.

Well for me, I still have a WAYS to go, but the 20 or so lbs I lost along with my experiences studying abroad gave me so much confidence you can't keep me out of a dress now! I love how free and feminine they make me feel

As for chub rub I struggle with this too - I use a swipe of solid deodorant where my legs rub together on warm days! If you have some soreness now, don't use it on an open sore - use some petroleum jelly to heal it up before using the deodorant trick.

I absolutely love wearing dresses and my secret is leggings.

Even when I run, I wear leggings to help with
my thighs rubbing together. I know for pretty
sun dresses it's good to wear white leggings.

Just depending on the dress.
Look at the Lane Bryant website for more ideas.

i started wearing dresses last summer and theyre doing great, sometimes the belly is a little stretched out though now, but its okay..

try putting deoderant or baby powder on your legs.
or wear leggings, they always fit.

There are also products out there specifically for "chub rub" bodyglide, sportsshield are the sport ones but I know some mainstream companies sell stuff.

Not to jack the OP's thread, but I felt this might fit in here. I have large breasts and hips. Can anyone give me suggestions on wearing skirts and dresses? I always feel like I either look totally fat (because of my hips) or slutty (because of the hourglass thing). Help!

A-line skirts that stop at the knee or slightly below rather than pencil/fitted skirts. A-lines are flattering on pretty much everyone.

Another one for bodyglide! And A-line cuts.

Both are great!

Does anyone remember when it was "Regis and Kathy Lee"? I heard her say once that she cuts control top hose off at the knees so that she has the control part but not the feet. I've done it and it works! I was pretty surprised that they didn't fray but they don't.

That's really interesting. I wouldn't mind having the benefits of a control top under all of my skirts. I might have to try that.

Thanks for all your help everybody - I really appreciate it!

I definitely think leggins, etc. is the way to go. I've seen women with really bad dark marks in the inner thigh area due to the legs rubbing together and I don't know if that discoloration will ever go away so the first time I experienced that burning rubbing sensation I immediately started wearing leggings. It's been 4 years since I've gained all this weight but my inner thighs have no bruising, darkened skinned.

BTW - congrats on the weight you've lost!!!! that's awesome!
