Over and over again the question of clothing size has come up in various groups on this forum. People talking about what size they were, what size they are, what size they hope to be. And over and over I keep seeing people mentioning sizes like 7, 9, or 11. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I do not think I've ever seen clothing in an odd numbered size. In my mind clothes sizes are 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and so on. Where are these odd numbered sizes? There is a size between an 8 and a 10?? I mean, my shoes come in odd sizes, but I've never seen clothes this way.
These are Juniors sizes, and are cut differently than adult sizes. They don't fall in between - they're a totally different range, in my experience (I'm an 8 in womens and about an 11 in juniors, usually, so there is some variance)
I would think it just depends on the store. I don't find odd sizes super often but they certainly are out there... not just junior either as I am nowhere near considered junior in size. And seriously, with the wonky differences in size between each brand, I don't think it makes a difference anyway as an 11 quite possibly fits the exact same as a 12 in one store and a 10 in another.
If you are crazy, it's not because of this. hehe j/k
I've also seen clothes in the non-juniors or juniors sections say that they're size "7/8" or "9/10" or something. And rarely I've seen a size 1 in a non-juniors section... like at GAP I know they have size 1 clothes sometimes even though they use even numbers (I had a skirt that size once, *sigh*).
I've only ever fit into juniors jeans (I have NO hips), so I tend to give my pants size in odd numbers. I guess I'm also still young enough that most people I talk to about clothing have some idea what I'm talking about.
I'm dating myself, but this is reminding me of that mall store "5-7-9"
There's still one in the mall in my home town. And they still only carry up to size 9! With the percentage of teens who are overweight these days, it's a wonder they can stay in business.

they can't. lol, the one in my mall closed recently. bad economy + chunky teens = bye bye 5-7-9
I HATED 5-7-9 because EVERYTIME my friends and I went to the mall, they'd go bebopping in there and I went to go stare at them from the cookie stand. I'd feel sick when I was dragged in there to 'admire' the pretty clothes they tried on in the dressing room.
I will say though, that when the Juniors Plus thing emerged, and I was about 18 or 19, my mom bought me some size 19 pants and it was way cooler to wear those vs. size 20w.
But I personally have always worn them when I am in between sizes.
a womens 12 is a little big in the hiny on me and do not fit well.
And 11's fit just right and womens 10's fit me but are too tight for comfort still.
So I think they do go in between.
I have worn 19's ,17's,15's,13's And 11's so far in my weight loss journey and its always when I am in between 2 sizes as the example of now I mentioned above. I have also worn the even numbers also.10 being my next new size to be.
That probably has something to do with body shape too. I always would need Juniors sizes bigger than Misses just to be able to get them on (never mind good fit) - if I wear Misses 6, I'd need at least a 9 in Juniors.
