That was really interesting. I'm glad that stores are finally getting a clue, that not all women are 5'9 120 lbs. Let's just hope that these plus size clothes, especially the pants, aren't made for really tall people as I've seen in some plus size or women's sections. We're not all tall! I'm 5'4" which is pretty average if you ask me and I have a heck of a time finding pants that don't sag in the crotch and go well past my toes. The only thing I'll buy at Lane Bryant besides a random shirt that doesn't look like it came from the 80's, is their jeans and pants, because they have petites in the store! not just online.
I also think it will greatly help with the self-esteem of overweight teens. When I was a teen I was slightly...slightly overweight, yet nothing in juniors ever fit me because I have wide shoulders and a larger than average frame and boobs. I think this exacerbated my low self-esteem and led to me gaining more and more weight over time.
oh sorry. what i meant is they launched plus size lines for teenagers. and part of the controversy, i guess, is people asking whether or not that encourages teenagers to be fat or something.
They should look at it from another perspective, instead of thinking it promotes obesity in teens. I think that when I look and feel cute, I have so much more confidence and energy to take on the world. These teens could use a boost of confidence. By getting that, they may start going to more events, and socializing, instead of staying home because they are ashamed that they have "nothing to wear".

I think with teens, the most important part is getting better looking cloths, to boost their selfesteem. Its so tough being a teenager to begin with, but to have a weight problem on top of that?? I think if they feel they look good, and fit in somewhat, well, they might take better care of themselves, at least be healthier in the fact that I believe health starts in the mind, before anything else. So I think its a good thing.
As for forever21--MY GOODNESS, their cloths are so freaking small. I love their stuff though. I've been dying to shop there for years now. I am not very overweight, but gees...oh wait, I "womanly" shaped, hehe....I should really get out of Jrs... but still... I really wanna wear it!

If that was the logic, it would apply to everyone, not just teenagers, no? Don't see that flying. Anyway, I never thought trying to shame someone into losing weight was ever a good idea. Or by taking away their privileges (i.e., nice clothes).
I think that is great, my biggest annoyance with Target was they always mixed their plus size clothing in with maternity and seemed to have very little of it. As of late they seem to have more stock even if they haven't seperated it from maternity. Although has anyone else noticed that Walmart has become very lax in their plus size department? Someone told me they were going to stop carrying the larger sized but I don't see how this can be possible?

Oh dear, I hope WM doesn't stop carrying the plus sizes, I've gotten some good stuff there. Whereas IME, it varies from store to store but Target isn't very good @ plus stuff at all
I stopped shopping at Target and Walmart because in both stores...at least by my house,I can't find much of anything in the line of plus size.Even the Targets near me seem to be getting less and less plus size
Every Target I've been in has an awful selection of plus-sized clothing. Wedged somewhere between petites and maternity, usually I can find maybe TWO racks of stuff.
Say what? Hahaha nice clothes for bigger people promote obesity? That's just ridiculous. Although fitting into the clothes at all stores is going to be awesome, I never once looked at clothes in those stores and thought, well it's time to lose weight!
