  • I also can't wear belts, the buckles bring my tummy out in rashes Rather inconvenient!
    Congratulations on your weight loss
  • If it's just the waist, you can hand sew in some darts, or sometimes you can thread elastic through the waist. Not very classy, but with a long top, who can tell. I've also considered having pants taken in. I'm not sure how much it would cost, but if you like the pants it might be easier and cheaper than searching for new ones.
  • Cant wait til this is my problem :P
  • Another 2nd hand shopper, here!

And, I found several periods during my weight loss that absolutely NO pants fit well. I just switched to skirts and skorts during that time. Eventually, pants fit again, and they looked GREAT!

Hang in there, this too shall pass.
  • Oh yea, I HATED the baggy pants. Belts on baggy pants looked ridiculous, and of course didn't fix the baggy butt/crotch. The first time I updated to pants that fit, it made such a HUGE difference in my mood that always made sure I had pants that fit, even if I had to alternate only 2 pairs.

An ugh, belts never gave me a belly rash, but I have a terribly itchy belly button today from the snap on my jeans. It's driving me nuts.
  • lol i love this thread. i've been having this problem too, but the one friend who i tell about it has been skinny her whole life, and totally doesn't understand! i try and contain my complaining about it, cuz it seems ridiculous to someone who's never been through it.
its frustrating cuz its like, im happy to be losing weight, but i want my pants to fit!
I've also turned to secondhand stores. I bought 2 pairs of pants today that are 1-2 sizes smaller than all my other pants. its amazing to actually see a number that shows my progress (other than just the scale, which is ever changing).
    Congrats on your weight loss!
  • I totally have this problem - Nothing fits right, but I don't want to spend the money on new clothes because I'm hoping that by the end of the year nothing will fit again! Unfortunately, I'm already down 2 sizes, which is quite a bit on the fit department. I got a gift card, and when I wear the few things that do fit I get so many compliments on how thin I am now!

One thing I've done is converted some of my capris to more of "mid-rise" - taken them in some through the crotch and on down the inner thigh. This pulls the waistline on down on my hips a bit to where it's closer to fitting, also snugging up the rear and legs some. If I have to I'll dart the waist a bit then, but it's not as much with the lower waist.
  • OK, so since I originally posted this, I found an old pair of jeans in my closet that fit perfectly. A friend hemmed them for me for my birthday and they were the greatest pair of jeans I've ever owned. But, now they don't fit again. I do love the thrift stores, I'm into dresses. They are SOOOOO much more flattering. No such thing as a saggy butt in a dress, and they are much easier for me to alter.
YESSSSS with belt buckle/ button allergy wtf is up with that?

Also, I retook my measurements. 42-35-50. So I looked up a bunch of size charts. Banana Republic, Old Navy, Anthropologie. All of them had a 10 inch difference in the hip to waist ratio. So I looked up apple bottoms, they had a 15 inch difference which is what I need. Only problem is, I'm not into the bling. So what's a girl to do? Anyone know of a clothing line that uses different proportions?

PS, as far as the belt buckle thing, You can coat the belt buckle with clear nail polish. It should help for at least a little while.
