  • I thought I would share If you want an instant face lift, take away redness, tighten your skin, and get rid of pimples, you should try this. About a year ago I did it for the first time and had wonderful results, but I never bothered to do it again. Well I woke up this morning with pimples on my chin and FREAKED out because I am going on vacation on Friday, and pimples is really the LAST thing I need. I remembered about the egg white facial's and did it..... my face looks awesome! It looks so tight and refreshed. Of course the pimples are still there, they are just not red anymore I'll keep giving myself one every morning until Friday and hope they disappear! But yeah, the holidays are coming up, which probably means family gatherings and what-not. So I figured I'd share this with you ladies incase you didn't know and would like a fresh looking face! I just crack two eggs, put the whites in a bowl, take a make up sponge and rub it evenly all over my face, under my eyes, and on my nose. Let it dry for 20 minutes, wash off, and your done. I don't find it smells at all, but some people do.
I read on a blog, that some people swear by this. I guess the egg whites have a lot of protein or something in them. I will tell you though, while it's drying on your face, it's a WEIRD feeling! SUPER tight, you can't even smile Really cool feeling.
    Enjoy.
I hope this works as well for you as it does for me.......
  • Huh! I'll try this. Lately I've been using a Swedish egg white soap, which is awesome, but I just ran out (as did the store that carries it). The soap really works well, so I'd imagine plain egg whites do just as good, much cheaper.

I'm having one of those 'Why didn't I think of that' moments.
  • I've done this a lot before. It does work!

Another thing you can do is whip your egg whites with a fork just a little and add a bare 1/2 tsp of honey. The honey will help draw out impurities as well as add a little moisture. Let it sit on your face for about 20 minutes and then blot off with a warm washcloth.

I am a big fan of natural stuff like this - I used to teach herbal cosmetics classes when I lived in the Pacific NW. I have all kinds of recipes and tips.

  • You should totally post your recipes PC, if you have time. I'm all about science/beauty experiments.

    I agree!
  • Ok ... ! When I get home tonight I'll dig up some of my favorites.

I have a lot that are just really basic ... like the egg white thing. Or mush up 1/2 an avocado and spread that on your face - it's mildly exfoliating and also moisturizes. Or whip an egg yolk and apply to your hair to strengthen it and make it shine - just be sure and rinse it with lukewarm water, not hot, unless you want to be washing cooked egg out of your hair.

Then I have a lot more than require some specialty ingredients (that you can order really cheaply online) and that can be made at home in small batches so that you know exactly what's in them and you don't have to worry about preservatives or unknown chemicals.

I'll post tonight, along with links of where to buy things.

  • I'm excited .... Apparently I'm also a nerd. Haha.
  • PC, I wish someone had told me the reasons why I should have used lukewarm water and not hot when I did the egg yolks on my hair when I was 15. Do you have any idea how long it takes to wash teensy chunks of scrambled eggs out of your hair...especially when it is wet?
  • I would love to see the recipes too! I have tried to find recipes for stuff like that. I do use coconut oil on my skin and sometimes on my hair, I can't really use it on my face though because it makes me break out. I used to put egg on my face when I was a teenager but I used the whole egg, I'll have to try the egg white and honey tonight.
I actually just asked a question over in my challenge thread about facial products. I'm worried about getting more lines on my face after I lose the weight so I was wondering what products are used and recommended.
  • YES to honey washing and to egg white facials. I have done both and have been happy.
  • Yes, I also oil my hair once a week. I was using sesame oil but for the last two weeks I have used coconut oil. I can say that NOTHING does better on my hair than oiling it. I warm the oil and saturate and put it into a ponytail. The next day I wash it out gently.

Also, I only wash every 5th day. Gross to some--but my hair is much healthier this way.
  • Thanks for this great tip that is natural and so much cheaper than shop bought product.

The only thing I used egg white in the past for when I commenced in nursing my years ago when the dinosaurs roamed the earth we put egg white on broken skin then dried it with oxygen and it gave a barrier to the wound. It worked wonders on the minor abrasion and aided healing. Needless to say this method is no longer in use
  • PhotoChick~~Please do post some of your recipes and tips. It would be so nice to feel pretty again. I am going to try the honey and egg white facial this afternoon. Thanks, I am so glad I found this thread!
  • When I moved to Colorado in the 80s, I was worried about my skin drying out, etc. I went to seminar on taking care of your face naturally and cheaply, which was wonderful. To clean my face, I put 1 tsp baking soda in some yogurt. Then I'd tone using witch hazel, then smash either banana or avocado in some yogurt and put that on my face. Once a week, I'd do the egg white facial. Those treatments worked very well. I think the biggest detriment to your face is using any kind of soap--it's so drying.
  • I tried the egg white facial for the first time tonight (with honey) and it's amazing!! Thanks so much for posting this, my skin hasn't been this soft or tight in a long time!
