Default Boots QUESTION...help me please! :)

I found some great almost to the knee boots today--soft butter leather and ooh..I love them. They are deep chocolate brown in color. I also bought some of those below the knee slacks--they are plaid and dressy in rich browns, corals, creams--definitely a winter item. Is this look still fashionable?

What do I wear for a top?

Also, do I wear tights under the boots and slacks. They meet each other.

I've only seen the pants tucked into the boot thing, or with a skirt. I couldn't tell you about the short pants.

My SIL is very fashion conscious, works in a bank so has to be pretty dressy at work. She wears the below the knee pants with boots fairly often. They are between the knee and midcalf length, right?

ETA: And yes, I believe she wears tights. She has some pretty wool ones with patterns and texture.

I am not super fashion conscious but still see folks wearing shorter tailored dress pants with boots. It is the shorter wide legged gaucho style yoga pants seem to be out of style now. Fine knitted sweaters, and jersey knit tops appear to go well with the dress pants. A tailored blouse worn loose outside the pants may look good too.

I really like this look, and found some cropped tailored tweed dress pants a couple of weeks ago. I have yet to wear them though as they aren't well suited to my job.

i've done short pants with boots. i think it mostly depends on what pants and what boots and how they work together and the look you're trying to go for. it's hard to say in the abstract. on top i'd suggest either a plain complementary bright solid. since it sounds like you're already rocking a lot of browns and earth tones you might try for an actual color like a pale blue? or something in the same color family as cream or coral? also, matching it with a cute tailored blazer or jacket i think really cleans things up, hides unwanted lumps, and such. i use these ALL the time.

and on the topic of things going in and out of fashion...watch out ladies: the hammer pants look appears to be making a comeback. god knows why. and women during fashion week in paris were spotted with pleated (PLEATED!) slacks finished with a french cuff at the bottom, which in my mind is more or less an upscale low-level hammer pant in and of itself. terrifying!!

I work as a social worker in an office with a bunch of other social workers and one girl always used to wear those and i thought it looked cute.

Also for my own practicality i would wear tights for warmth. plus when you sit down it may come up a little so it would look better.

as for a top look for a plain turtleneck sweater...maybe in cream....

I wear below the knee pants with boots and I think its looks awesome..I have two really nice turtle neck sweaters that I chose from..one is a really nice red and the other a royal blue. The last time I wore the pants I went to a friends house and she insisted I wear some of these knee high socks with them..nobody could see them at all and they looked like thicker/warmer tights

What in the world are "hammer pants". Do you mean like the old painter paints that were popular in the 80 with the little loop for a pretend hammer?

Hehehe, I think she means as in M.C. Hammer. Those super baggy pants with the fitted ankle. On guys. From the 80s.

eeeeeeeeeeewwwwhhhh. LOL I'm SURE I will not be sporting a shiny new pair of "Hammer" pants any time soon...

Thanks for clearing that up...because I have an old pair of painter pants I'm thinking about digging out...for painting of course.
