I remember in a college psychology or sociology class, the instructor passed out a survey that included the question "if you found an outfit that looked great on you, fit perfectly, but was in a size larger than you normally would wear, would you consider buying it?"

I don't remember how many, but a good number of women said, "no," and all of the men said, "yes."

I not only answered "yes," I don't really understand anyone in the "no" group. I've never thought of myself as a size (maybe because since age 5, I was never any size long enough to make it part of my identity). I do find it interesting though that many people (mostly women, but I know a few guys - though interestingly enough they are gay) do see their size (the number) as part of their identity, not just a tool to help them improve their guesswork when choosing items to take to the dressing room.
