I have given up on shopping pretty much. It totally sucks and the larger you are, the worse it seems to be!!! (In my humble opinion at least)

Most of my clothes I've either had for centuries and/or I wear clothes that makes me look like a "Big Top Circus Tent"............:fr:

I'll tell ya the "blouses" I hate, they are the ones that have the great big neck in them and almost hang off your shoulders on each side, It's like because we are over weight, there fore we have fat heads and fat necks. ya know it's obvious a man or a skinny woman or skinny gay man designs these clothes:mad:. So yea I'm feelin ya here girl.

I know exactly what your feeling! I am a size 16 sometimes 18.:tape: I was a size 4 before i had my kids. Then i was a comfortable size 11. Thats what i want to be back at! And I still have all my 11 clothes. I hate going in to a store in the mall and seeing all those cute sexy tops! Thats why im here o take this journey with you and everyone else!:grouphug:

I completely understand where you guys are coming from. I am 4'10", 182 lbs. Do you know how hard it is to find clothes! I have never once in my life found something that fit me perfectly.

*hides* Is it bad that I actually liked that shirt? It's better then the clothes I have!!! LOL.......

I can't wait to be a normal size and not have to worry so much.... I would be happy with a size 10 at this point. LOL

Jillybean - AMEN!!!!! I totally can not stand the "waistband under the boobs" shirts that have infiltrated the plus size top makers.

And another things (I think someone else mentioned it earlier) why are plus size tops cut so low? Don't get me wrong, I am a DD and sometimes I do like for "the girls" to peak out but the majority of plus size tops I run into are cut lower than the breast area. I ALWAYS have to wear a tank top underneath.

I just shop where ever I can find something. I use to shop at Casual Corner but they went out of business - I was totally crushed. That was where I bought all of my work suits and clothes. I use to shop at Lane Bryant back when they were owned by Express. But since they were sold to the same company that owns Catherins and Fashion Bug, I feel like the quality and the style of clothing has gone downhill. Or it could just be my local store - I am in Kansas afterall. LOL

I totally agree. Torrid isnt as goth as they were before, and they do have cute tops. I usuall wait til the clearance is half off (they do it often) cause their clothes are a bit pricey. As for lane bryant, my mom tells me they've improved so much, but I still think they have a ways to go. Sometimes they have the occassional pretty top, but you have to scour the whole store bf you find it : )
Macys plus size section has pretty nice stuff, but these places are so expensive !! question-- why are the department stores have their plus sizes hidden or upstairs???maybe im just imagining it.

You're not imagining it--my mom (also plus sized) and I noticed this years ago. You walk into a store and find TONS of "normal" sizes everywhere, but the plus sizes are either tucked way in the back with the maternity clothes and lingerie, or they're upstairs with the kids' clothes--like having those big fat clothes next to the normal clothes will somehow infect them with the fatness

I only wear a B cup--it's the part of me that is disproportionately small compared to the rest of my body. Makes buying tops particularly difficult since manufacturers seem to think ALL plus sized women have DDs!

OMG i just came across this thread again, that is still the ugliest shirt ever! LOL!

BrokenButterfly 02-10-2008 05:59 PM

 I dont mind the shirt. I've seen plently of girls wearing that kind of shirt and look gorgeous in it. You just have to have the right shape, unfortuantely for me, I dont ..I know I would look hideous in it.

I have numerous beefs with plus size stores. and clothes. Shirts with absolutely no shape, and / or horrible flower pattens are just a few. And as the sizes get bigger, it gets worse, in my opinion  for some reason they think those of us who wear, say, a 30/32 dont need to look pretty.

I used to work in a plus size store and voiced my opinions quite loudly on this fact. Since we catered to plus size women, and a significant number of customers are in the upper sizes, (including me!) It pained me to see beautiful shirts coming in, and stopping at size 24..or 26..or 28. And I dont understand why they would only bring in one item of the largest size, and a million in the other sizes. We were ALWAYS desparate for bigger sizes in our stores. The smaller sizes sold and were popular, but it was the bigger sizes that were in demand. And I NEVER understood about the sexy bra and underwear sets. They would bring the panty up to a 5X, but stop the bra at like a 44. WTF? Tell me how that makes ANY sense??
