Default Fred Meyers Phasing Out "Women's" Clothes

I just got home from the Fred Meyers in Corvallis, OR., and I am so hurt and disappointed. Normally, FM sports three very unecessary different sections for women's clothes: juniors/misses/womens. I have tried to look past the segregation and just look for things in my size that I might like and try not to think about it. Today though, after finding a cute pair of boots, I decided to look for clothes and could only find the juniors and misses section. I went up to an employee and asked him where the women's section was, and he said they don't have one anymore, and that "Columbian" brand clothes were the only ones that might work.

I put the boots back. I figured if they don't want to cater to people my size, so be it.

How can they phase it out when they have an ample amount of customers as well as people in their employ who can't wear clothes below a size 16?

GrrGrrGrr!

Cool

That is a bunch of crap! I wouldn't shop there either! I like Wal-Mart and they DO have our sizes!

FWIW, juniors, missy, and women's aren't just random (or unnecessary) separations of clothing. The clothes are cut differently-- different proportions, to fit roughly stereotypical teenage bodies (juniors, smaller bust and hips relative to waist), adult women without a lot of extra weight (more bust and hips), and heavier women (room for belly and hips, usually-- bigger waist).

I'm sorry that they didn't carry what you were looking for.

Not every store carries petites (which I need) either. I wouldn't take it personally. A store's main concern is profit. They may not have made much money off women's sizes in your particular store.
