Nylons--Please Help!!

  • Can anyone recommend some really good plus-size pantyhose (brands that are available in the US, please)? I'm 5'6" and wiegh about 196 pounds, BUT I have very long legs and carry most of my excess weight in my lower body. To compensate, I'd like something designed for a woman about 5'9" or 5'10" and around 240 pounds or up.

I'm beginning to think that no one in the world makes pantyhose in my size that actually fit. The so-called "plus size" brands I've tried all seem to run much smaller than the package claims. The last pair I bought were control tops (not that I wanted control, but I couldn't find a pair without it). The "panty" was so tight I couldn't squeeze it up over my hips, even though the package claimed that they were designed for a taller and heavier woman than me.

I'm also having trouble finding knee-high hose that work. Hanes "Just My Size" fit okay but they will not stay up. They slide right down to my ankles. Very annoying, not to mention how dorky it looks.

I would be so grateful if anyone could point me to some nylons that really fit.
  • Possible solution?
    Hi,

I'm forever having pantyhose and pants fit problems because I have a large waist and small hips. I saw a Majestic Lingerie store in New York City a few months ago, but didn't go in at the time. I also haven't ordered from them yet, so this might be a blind alley. Anyway, they carry Soprano brand lingerie and have shapewear that goes up to 9X and a selection of 3-4X sized pantyhose. There is a website, but this is my first post, so if the link is removed below maybe you could Google Majestic Lingerie. It might be worth a look and/or a phone call.

    Best of luck to you.

  • I've had similar problems. I bought a pair of these from Target recently and they're awesome. They're a little heavy on the flattening-and-tucking but the end result is pretty incredible. Plus, they're only $10. Can't beat that. I don't know if all Targets carry them but they're available on the website. Just so you know: they're sized from 1-5, and a size 5 on their chart says it'll fit someone who's 6'0" and 265. I wore a 4 and they were a tad snug (the size 5 pair I initially bought was much, much too long). Hope this helps!

  • Catherine's shops (at least used to) carry a wonderful brand of pantyhose. They were very comfy, though a little long for me (I'm 5'6") and come in a really wide range of sizes. They even had a pair that fit me great at 375 lbs. They're knee highs were great too. The stayed up for a day with no problem, as long as they were handwashed in warm water after each wearing, and replaced every three months (but how many knee highs last that long anyway).
  • Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll definitely check out all leads. I'm soooo tired of not being able to wear dresses because of the hosiery problem.
