Hi ho,

I'm having one of "those" days. Like Meg and SusanB I was awake in time to go to the gym, but didn't because I just didn't have the energy to stir my stumps. And here it is, just minutes after 2 p.m., and I've eaten almost everything I'm entitled to eat for the whole bloomin' day.

Hey, you know what ... now that I look at what I've just written, I see the connection between lack of energy and "the hungries." What I probably need is not a snack, but a nap. Funny how illumination sneaks up on you

I'm supposed to be editing a very boring document. I don't wanna do it. But I guess I better. See you all later.

I'm going to have a nap! I'm not even hungry ... I feel a bit like dishwater actually.

Editing eh? I was just kind of journalling and I'm glad you can't see it

Robin, I am exactly the same way! Tired = bad eating choices for me. I've come to the conclusion that I eat for energy when I'm exhausted - tired somehow gets translated into hungry. And my best days are the days when I get lots of sleep.

Too bad it takes so much time to take a nap but we can stuff our faces in five minutes.

Lily, that's really interesting about the PB! Good thing to discover, eh? Maybe someday you'll be able to try again. Horray on the treadmill!

Anyone else have satellite radio? I just got it in my car as a (early) birthday present and it. What's really cool is that I can listen over my computer at home.

Meg--try not to be too discouraged with yourself re: muscle building. You've been through alot with that shoulder, and you've done awesomely as it is. It must be hard to look at old photos of yourself when you were in better shape muscle-wise, but you'll gain your strength/muscle back!! I know it!

Everyone--pb is a trigger food for me, big time. i have 2 kids though, and so it's a staple item in our house. I used to ear just a tiny bit every day (!) for breakfast to keep cravings away. Now I'm a bit sick of it *gasp*. So that worked for me.

Lily--SO glad to hear about your improvement in function. Still very impressed you're managing to maintain in spite of the challenge.

I'm faithfully following the 1/2 marathon training plan--really trying to be careful to avoid injury. I tend to get very wrapped up in what I'm doing, ending in overtraining and injury if I'm not paying attention. Now I'm thinking of an olympic distance triathlon in March as well. Somebody slap some sense into me, quick!

Yikes boarderchick! I ran three blocks of a nine block walk tonight and was patting myself on the back.

This interrupted sleep thing does not agree with me. I have felt awful all day. Mildly headache-y. I struggled to get a workout in. I walked in three little stints. I have eaten too much.
So I'm cheating tonight. I'm using an old nurses trick and taking 1/2 a gravol. I start seven days in a row tomorrow, with a terrible shift change in the middle. I can't afford to feel this crappy at the beginning! By Monday, I'll be telling some patient to move over so I can have a snooze too.
I have to take my car back to the garage in the morning so I'll start with a good long walk home. Hopefully a good long active day with put my circadian rhythms back in sync.

Hope you sleep well Susan, I hate it when that happens to me! Exercise should help, it does for me, unless I'm overtraining.

I did sleep well. I woke at about 0615 was was alert and ready to roll. I was up at about midnight for a BR break and went right back to sleep. I think that may have been about 8 hours!

My rant for today, if my DH doesn't quit hitting the snooze alarm 3 times every morning, he's gonna need a good proctologist to do an alarm clock removal. I can't get enough sleep. He likes to go to bed about 2AM and the alarm first starts going off at 6AM, 6:10AM and 6:20AM. By this time, I'm wide awake and up with my DD for school until she leaves at 7:20. Then my next door neighbor is here at 8AM with her 2 yr. old to visit til 11AM. (She comes over to hide from her DH that she is smoking). Next, my 20yr. old son usually shows up to visit at 1PM and leaves at 3PM. At 3PM my step-daughter that is 23 yrs. old and her 2 children, ages 2 yrs. old and 5 months show up and stay til about 6PM . Anyway, I end up taking a late nap after 6PM most days, and then being wide awake til 2 or 3 AM. I am still on a lot of medications that cause me to need a lot of sleep and I'm not getting it. I feel tired and foggy. My DH never sleeps more than 5 hrs. and can't understand why I require more sleep. Sometimes I am just rude and go to bed, put a pillow over my head and sleep no matter who is here.

What a hoot, Lily, my dh is the same way. Thankfully he doesn't use an alarm but goes to bed late and gets up early. Anyway , you gave me a good laugh for the day. Maybe someday, I can post here for real (maintainers).

I just had to post this. I made it a full mile on the treadmill tonite for the first time since injuring my ankle. WooHOo, I am so happy. I was even sweating. Man, I really got out of shape when I wasn't walking. I had been up to 3-4 miles a day and now 1 mile is a real workout for me.

Lily--Yay!!! Way to go! Well on your way to full recovery, I see. That must feel really great. Thanks for the laugh re: the snooze alarm.

Hi everyone! I'm home from work today recovering from my second wrist surgery (thanks for the well wishes!). It went pretty well although I had to sit in the waiting room forever -- they had a very busy morning and not enough beds! They gave me a different painkiller this time and it hasn't made me as sick as the one last time (last time was darvocet, this time is hydrocodone) so that's good, although I did sleep for 12 hours last night.

Weight has been up and down a little -- I freaked out the other day when my scale read 131 but it is back to 128 now (since my scale is broken, that means I really weigh around 133, but that's okay).

Pat - I am so sorry to hear about your friend.

Lily - glad you are getting better!

Meg - I know what you mean about body composition! I may still be in my maintenance range but I have more fat and less muscle than a year ago.

Back to resting on the sofa now . . .

Hi everyone, I have extra company for the weekend. I am cooking the same healthy food for them that we always eat. No one seems to mind a bit.

My 14 yr. old step-daughter is here for fall break. She's a joy to be around. She moved to Las Vegas a few months ago to live with her mom and we really miss her.

My own 14 yr. old DD wants to start taking "long walks" with me again and doing our exercise tapes together. She laughs at how clumsy I am. I always say that it doesn't matter if I miss the dance steps, as long as I'm moving.

I had a tooth to break last night when I bit into a bell pepper in my salad. I will see the dentist on Tuesday to have it fixed. It doesn't hurt. This is the very first tooth I have ever had break.

I had mentioned about the male dog that we had borrowed to breed our lab. with. I sent him home yesterday. They offered to let us buy him, and my DH wanted to keep him. He was just too hyper and not house trained. I was having too much trouble with him barking and digging out of the fence. Don't know if the breeding occurred or not, but we had him for 2 weeks, so maybe it did. BTW, there are now holes in my yard that are big enough to bury a body in.

I had a bad weekend of eating with more carbs than usual. Was afraid to get on the scale today, but decided to just face it and get it over with. I had maintained at 140 lbs. the same wt. I have been for the last few weeks. I was glad to see this and am back to my program this morning. I think getting back to regular exercise is what helped to keep me from gaining. Although, I had more carbs, I don't think I had more calories than usual. My cooking was just different with all the company, not really any junk food.

Hi Lily,

WTG on keeping at 140! How is the foot coming along ?

paperclippy - how is the wrist doing?

Just zooming by, I 'll post later. I can just mention that I finally worked out today, after giving work pressure precedence for the past week. I went to power class, and I feel good about it.
