Please keep us in your prayers!!

  • Hello everyone! As you know, Hurricane Frances is about to bear down on those of us living here in Florida. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we wait for the passing of this huge storm! Two of these hurricanes in 3 weeks is indeed scary! Hopefully, we will be OK. It is still not definite exactly where Frances is going to land, but it is going to be disastrous!
Thanks a lot for your concern!

  • Oh Carol! We've been following the hurricane closely at my house because DS just finished his first week of college in Orlando. We had to wait to take him down there until the power and phones came back on for his apartment complex -- and when we finally arrived, the devastation from Charlie was unbelievable! Of course, I panicked when the reports of this hurricane started to make the news earlier this week and begged him to drive home on Thursday when classes were cancelled (he had no hurricane supplies and is only 18 and own his own for the first time ever). So DS is out of harm's way but my heart goes out to everyone still in Florida. Let's hope that the power lines don't go down again and that everyone stays safe. We're thinking of you from Pittsburgh!
  • Thanks sooo much Meg for your concern! I really appreciate it! I am soooo glad that your son got home to you safe and sound!! That is much better than the situation we are in.I have two brothers and their families in Melbourne ( my home town). I spoke to them a couple hours ago, and so far so good. Heavy winds and a few heavy rain storms every so often. One of my brothers lives on the beachside, which of course was evacuated, so both families are together in town. I feel better about that.

We live in Lake City, which is North Florida. We are located between Jax. and Tallahassee. We are suppose to get lots of rain, heavy rains, etc. Every hotel here in town is full!!

BTW, does your son attend UCF? That is a really good school. my hubby, me, and our oldest son are graduates of Florida State.

Thanks again for your caring thoughts, Meg!

  • Carol -- I know where you are! Yep, it sounds like you're going to get all the rain and flooding and wind too. I was just watching the Weather Channel and they said that the whole thing just stopped moving and is sitting there! Wow -- it's going to take forever to get the hurricane out of the state at this rate.

DS just started at Full Sail, a sound engineering school just down the road from UCF. The power was off at his apartment complex for nine days after Charlie and it sounds like we could be in for a repeat. Since he's an insulin-dependent diabetic, I just couldn't see him trying to survive in an apartment without power for what could be a long, long time. His classes are cancelled "until further notice" so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

to you and all your extended family over the next few days. This is going to be one long storm.
  • May the Lord be with you and your family. You are in my prayers.God bless.
  • Thanks soooo much for everyone's kind words, prayers, and thoughts. This Frances is a huge hurricane that is moving ever so slowly over our state. I just pray that the damage is minimal, but at this point, nobody can predict the outcome.
I will be talking to everyone soon, I hope. However, who knows if and when we will lose our power. That, of course, will make a big difference if I can keep in touch.
Again, thanks so much for your concern. I really do appreciate it.
    Hugs-
    CAROL
  • I saw something about that hurrican on the news (yep, here in Australia) I hope you and your loved ones keep safe!!
