Maintainers Weekly Chat: June 5 - June 11

  • It's been a good ice cream week by the criteria that I haven't bought any more since a week ago. So glad that didn't creep in as a habit. It's been a little bit easier since warm summer weather still eludes us.

    The other good news is that I've weighed myself all seven days this past week. I'd drifted away from that with a drifting away from feeling accountable. One excuse was that the DGD moves the scale when she visits but that was a smoke screen since she only visits once a week and the scale can be moved back.
  • I've started weighing myself every day again, too. I do like doing it, I find it helps and then sometimes I just stop. Why I stop is a mystery.
  • Different things work for different people Bill and Birchie. I found weighing every day to be frustrating and sometimes a trigger to give up and eat. Once or twice a month is good for me. :

  • Daily weigh-er here otherwise I don't feel accountable. I do wish the stupid thing would move downward rather than sticking in place like it has for the past three weeks.

    We've made the switch to traditional AC due to temperatures near 110 degrees. I much prefer the evaporative cooler, though. It gives a more steady temperature rather than the up and down with AC. Last night, I'd get too hot before it clicked on and then too cold before it clicked off.
  • I'm also a daily weigher-- I record it daily-- which can be motivating or frustrating. This morning I was down .8 which is a start. Extremely active weekend, so I better be down some! LONG walks with the dog both days (really hikes), bikram yoga both days, gym yesterday and a big hike on Saturday with dh. We decided to break in our hiking shoes (we both got Merrell shoes) and went to where we thought there were hiking trails. Dh brought a walking stick which I laughed at-- then regretted not bringing--- the hike was almost straight up! We hiked for about 1.5 hours. Just a fraction of what we'll do in Italy but it won't all be upwards there (granted we did have to go back down-- which explains my sore knees and other leg soreness).

    Today I'm back to work-- I just work through Thursday. School is closed so it is quiet.

    Today I also start my "Hot Teacher Fitness Challenge"-- I'm trying a new homemade salad for lunch and will hopefully do my regular exercise later today plus my exercise for this challenge.
  • I am a daily weigher except for mornings that are too outside the norm, like if I have to get up at 5 instead of 7, or after a hard hike. Been keeping really busy and not getting online much, but I think of everyone here often, and send secret encouraging weight control thoughts

    My weight is staying steady but not without effort.

    I just went on a nice one-night backpack in the Garfield Grove (giant sequoias). Next week I'll be spending a night in the Domelands wilderness, and then flying to Seattle to visit my son and DIL. The Garfield trail is quite steep and my legs are still complaining about climbing all that way with a full pack!
