have a good weekend everyone!!!!

Friday, Oct. 19th:

20 minutes elliptical, random intervals, resistance at nine, backward the whole time
60 minutes back & biceps routine
40 minutes Stairmaster step mill, resistance at eight, aerobic setting

Oh sheesh, I struggled with fitting in the gym today. Got up at the right time, suited up and then felt curiously enervated, as though I were coming down with a cold. I just couldn't get moving. To do much of anything, let alone go to the gym and work out for two hours straight. I had another cup of coffee. I sat with the feeling and the newspapers. I went out at lunchtime instead, and then again right after work to finish up the last round. An acquaintance was there also getting her cardio done, which she hadn't been able to do during lunch hour.

Yeah, today was hard, but I got through it.

Oct. 17: two 40 min dog walks (2.25mi each), 1 hour tennis drills, 1 hour doubles match

saef 10-20-2012 01:06 PM

Saturday, Oct. 20th:

60 minute spin class with three intervals with weights
60 minute Pilates mat class

The door was open behind me in the exercise room on this gorgeous October day. I could feel the sun on my face and then on my back. This was once my favorite time of year, and once the memories clear, it will probably resume its place again.

Wednesday, Oct.24th:

45 minute spin class in the evening, just spinning, peddling hard, no weights

saef 10-25-2012 08:26 AM

Thursday, Oct. 25th:

60 minutes elliptical, random intervals, resistance at nine, alternating going backward & forward. Cardio, I've found, is a kind of sedative, maybe from fighting a machine.
60 minutes Pilates, also rather calming, though my mind ran & ran in the background.

Tell me, please, that this was not one long extended bout, and that you are summing up two or more sessions, separated by other activities, as this is just too much of one's day to spend with a cardio machine.

And I say this with all concern, knowing my own obsessiveness. No one has ever accused me of being a slacker when it comes to exercising, but being on an elliptical this long would probably make me pass out.

saef 10-28-2012 02:16 PM

Sun, Oct. 28th:

20 minutes Stairmaster stepmill, aerobic setting, resistance set at eight
60 minutes shoulders, biceps and triceps routine
40 minutes elliptical, resistance at nine, alternating backward & forward

masterptr 10-28-2012 02:49 PM

saef,
LOL
.
I don't go too fast on the machine when I go long.
usually, I set it at 10/8 and do about 5 miles each hour.
my heart rate stays within the fat burning range, I don't let it go over to cardio range. each time I burn 500-550 calories.
.
I Thank you for being concerned though.. having been in too many foot, leg injuries... I know how to baby my body. that is part of the reason why I use machine more so than actually walk/run outside.
if I can have it my way, I would just walk/run outside all day long.. but my body says that I need to break once in a while...

today's work out,
outside walking - 8 miles
2 hours and 10 minutes on the elliptical.

:)

Have a good day!!!

October 27: My gym plans went awry today. I showed up for spin and my favorite instructor couldn't make it as he had a flat tire leaving a class at another gym. Because it was short notice they had to cancel the class. I told myself I would go to yoga in the afternoon but it didn't happen. However, dh and I did go to a Halloween party and I did do some pretty aerobic dancing for at least 30 minutes so that was something at least.

October 28: 90 minutes Bikram Yoga. I thought the class started at 9:30, and got there at 9:05. I have an OCD ritual about getting there, putting my mat down in the right spot, going to the bathroom and then stretching until class starts. I was horrified to see that the class had already started-- I never go to the morning class on the weekends and it started at 9:00. I *gasp* had to enter class late (without peeing!), finding a spot (not my normal spot-- horror of horrors), and try to jump in without distracting others. I was so disconbobulated for the beginning of class (especially because the instructor was the one I've nicknamed the Yoga ****), but I eventually calmed down and was happy I didn't do my first thought-- leave!

Monday, Oct. 29th:

60 minutes Life Fitness treadmill at the motel, resistance at eight, random intervals, speed at a fast walk for someone of my height & leg length, that is, 3.6-3.7.

Will try to take advantage of the equipment here (such that it is) while I can, not for weight control, not for fitness, simply to burn off adrenalin and settle myself. Exercise helps me with that.

Just went for my first pump class after a 6-month hiatus. (In the warmer months I just run.) My arms are super-sore right now. I wish it were May! Onward and upward.

I went to body pump tonight too. Not as long a hiatus as you but it had been awhile. I could certainly tell a difference-- it was hard!
