Wednesday, Aug. 15th:

45 minute spin class, which was a struggle. My hamstrings and glutes were still horrendously sore from whatever we did on Monday night in circuit training. And I was just bodily tired. I nearly "bonked" as they say, and struggled to get through it.

I used a foam roller afterward and I just downed some aspirin. A good long shower is also going to help.

krampus 08-15-2012 11:54 AM

Tuesday evening, August 14:
-2 miles on bike path in 18:35 - not winning any races but I am totally winning against myself!

Wednesday morning, August 15:
-Upper body routine, a bit rushed, pulled a muscle :( but increased weights and sets :)
-6 minutes on the stair stepper, woohoo

saef 08-16-2012 10:15 AM

Thursday, Aug. 16th:

60 minutes, yes, a whole hour, on the Stairmaster at the nicer Upstate gym
Aerobic intervals, resistance at eight, and you better believe I held the rails after about 20 minutes
But this may have helped my sore legs

saef 08-17-2012 09:14 AM

Friday, Aug. 17th:

Nobody on the roads, nobody in the streets
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach.

20 minutes Stairmaster step machine, aerobic intervals, resistance at eight
60 minutes back and biceps routine
40 minutes back on Stairmaster, same setting, and grabbing the rails toward the end, pouring sweat, glad that I won't be on this machine at this gym as frequently as I've been for the past few months.

krampus 08-17-2012 10:18 AM

Thursday, August 16:
-3 mile walk with my mom through neighborhood and a nearby cemetery

Friday, August 17:
-"SPRINT 8" intervals program on elliptical, level 7/10, tired me out!

saef 08-19-2012 01:59 PM

Saturday, August 18th:

Nothing. But I walked around a field looking in the booths of antique dealers from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with only one short period of sitting down.

Since I got home when it was still light, I'm still consumed with guilt that I didn't go out running afterward.

Sunday, Aug. 19th:

20 minutes Stairmaster stepmill, aerobic intervals, resistance at eight
60 minutes shoulders, biceps and triceps routine
40 minutes Cybex arc trainer, one-minute intervals, up to eight

krampus 08-19-2012 06:22 PM

Saturday, August 18:
-Ran about 5K with my boyfriend in a park in a little under half an hour.

Sunday, August 19:
-Upper body lifting routine. Increased weights and surprised myself.
-12 minutes Stair stepper, level 11/12 "hills" program.
-10 minutes rowing on ERG machine.
-10 minutes incline intervals on elliptical, levels 4 and 10.
-Came home and ALMOST DID AN UNASSISTED PULLUP. Attempt #2 was a terrible fail but still.

saef 08-20-2012 07:57 AM

Monday, Aug. 20th:

45 minute spin class, my last one at the Upstate gym till my next time in town. As usual, the instructor did tabatas and made me sweat.

krampus 08-20-2012 10:07 AM

Monday, August 20:
-12 minutes of running intervals, 6, 7 and 8 mph.
-Kettlebell swings, lunges, windmills.

Tuesday, Aug. 21st:

15 minutes elliptical, intervals, backward, resistance at six and 11
60 minutes chest, shoulders and triceps
60 minute endurance spin, with a weight interval, just five pound weights but oh, my, the endless repetitions kill me after the earlier upper-body workout that day. But for some women, this is the only upper-body work they do.

Weds, Aug. 22:

45 minute spin class to start my day, and boy did those weight intervals set my arms a-trembling, coming on top of yesterday's work

But it's worth it to get my workout in at 6 AM and to clear the evening for ... whatever.

krampus 08-22-2012 10:12 AM

Tuesday, August 21:
-4 mile run in 37:55 with my dude. Very tiring and I was underfueled.

Wednesday, August 22:
-Upper body lifting routine, upped my weights again!
-6 minutes on Stair stepper

Thursday, Aug. 23

45 minutes on the Stairmaster step mill, aerobic intervals, resistance at eight, leaving the steps wet with generous splashes of sweat.
60 minutes Pilates routine, back at the gym again in the evening.

krampus 08-24-2012 10:55 AM

Friday, August 24:
-13 min of sprint intervals on treadmill
-5 min of "sprints" on stair stepper

Not much time, wanted to make it count. Feel guilty for not doing weights but I was feeling weak.

saef 08-24-2012 11:11 AM

Friday, Aug. 24th:

20 minutes Cybex arc trainer, intervals, resistance at six and 10
60 minutes back & biceps routine
40 minutes back on the Cybex, same resistance setting, with some wacky TV show on in which hot teenagers turn into demons and mermaids & then turn back. It's interesting to see bad & improbable TV with the sound entirely off.

saef 08-25-2012 12:12 PM

Saturday, Aug. 25th:

60 minute spin class with weight intervals
60 minute Pilates mat class

Back into my Saturday morning workout routine, among all the familiar faces of my fellow gym rats and ladies eternally working on their figures.

Sunday, Aug. 26th:

15 minutes Stairmaster step mill, aerobic, resistance at eight
60 minutes shoulders, biceps & triceps routine
45 minute spin class, which I've decided is one of the best ones because there is no playing around with light weights -- which, frankly, I do not need after an hour of upper-body work.

saef 08-27-2012 09:31 AM

Monday, Aug. 27th:

45 minute spin class with weight intervals
60 minutes circuit training class in the evening, having the most trouble as usual with wood choppers, also this thing where we balanced on a bosu with our feet in the air & passed a small heavy ball around our legs in a figure-eight movement. But what I'm good at is locust pose. I can lift my chest way up high in the air. I think this has something to do with my back muscles. I am also slightly swaybacked, which may help.

krampus 08-27-2012 10:45 AM

Saturday, Aug. 25 -
-Went to the Dutchess County Fair. No exercise unless you count standing all day, which wore me out!

Sunday, Aug. 26 -
-3.1 mile walk with my mom and a friend. Pretty slow pace. Ran into a neighbor and talked for a while.

Monday, Aug. 27 -
-Upper body lifting routine, felt GREAT to be back at it. Didn't lose strength in my 5 days off!
-12 min of sprint intervals on treadmill
-3 min on stair stepper before I almost died

Tuesday, Aug. 28th:

15 minutes Stairmaster step mill, resistance at eight, aerobic intervals
60 minutes chest and triceps, with the small of my back still feeling tender. This is what I get for showing off in the Locust Pose last night: A sore lower back.
60 minute spin class with weight intervals, and me feeling really not up to it and wiped out, with my back giving me twinges.

These days with gym in the morning & gym in the evening may not be such a good idea.

krampus 08-28-2012 11:25 AM

Tuesday, August 28:
-15 minutes sprint/speedwalk/jog intervals on treadmill
-Kettlebell swings, lunges

saef 08-29-2012 08:45 AM

Weds., Aug. 29th:

45 minute spin class, and I ditched the weights and just upped the resistance and peddled hard, as I didn't want to work my upper body for the fourth day in a row.

40 minutes arc trainer, hill intervals, resistance at nine

I've got an iPod again, which makes all the difference. Now I need to put some fresh music on it.

Wow people are doing great here! As you may know I lost 33 pounds this summer and began maintenance a few weeks ago. Rather, it began me. No big weight losses for a week, and I am still "dieting" without reintroducing many foods. That's OK. Exercise still high: my 100-minute bike ride up a small mountain (900 feet elevation gain) five times a week. Next week I'll climb up to over 14,300 feet and will burn staggering amounts of calories (usually around 4000-6000 calories for a monster hike like this with 4500 feet of elevation gain!). Anyway, it looks like I didn't choose a maintenance weight, it chose me.
