June 4: 6.35 miles running at the park, shoulder opener yoga flow
Birchie - I have made very little progress towards getting my heels down in downward dog. While in the pose I often thought about you with your heels down and moved my feet back and forth to try to find the magic spot, and have gotten closer because of that. Haven't pointed my feet out - I can see where that would probably do it, but not the right way... I'm also working on stretching my calves and hamstrings like mad to see if I can get there before the end of the year. We can do it. Or we can at least get closer.
2,000 meters warmup rowing on the Concept 2, my best time yet, 9:37 minutes
60 minutes weights
45 minutes spin class
A lot of new people in class today, so the spin instructor went very easy on us. I didn't feel challenged until the ladder sprint series at the end. I tried to up the resistance, reminding myself I am responsible for my own workouts, not the instructors.
Now off to seek the elusive thing called fun ... downtown, of course. My idea of fun is sitting through back-to-back documentary films at small theaters in the Village.
SB- puppy is a one year old cocker spaniel. We adopted him about 3 months ago. A sweetie and darn good running partner. But I am realizing he is best on the shorties, he does the longers willingly but is thoroughly knocked out.
weak effort but still an effort to move and strengthen:
Fri- 2 sets push ups/tri dips
Sat- 1.25 run
Sun- 1.25 run with all children, and the dog. ending the day with 2 sets push up/tri dips
and have battled a horrible cough that I now realize was a virus complete with crazy fatigue and muscle aches, rather than allergies. go me
June 4: was going to do Bikram Yoga but the one instructor I didn't like was there so I left and went to the gym with dh. I'll try again tomorrow.
30 minutes elliptical
20 minutes stairmaster
Totals:
3 days
182 minutes
June 5: same Bikram instructor so I decided to stay and tough it out. Class was better than the last time with her but I must have twisted my knee and I feel like I'm getting a cold! Oh no!
50 minutes arc trainer, hill intervals, resistance at 9
60 minutes circuit training class
The instructor said it was good to have a full class tonight & that he'd missed **some of us.** That would be me, staying away due to my mother's visit & also because there was a special spin class one evening that was in conflict. Yeah, I feel a little guilty but also, life happens & I have to do some rearranging sometimes.

2,000 meter warmup rowing on the Concept 2, about 9:43 minutes
60 minutes weights
60 minute Endurance Spin class
I stepped out of the gym this evening into muggy air -- it was like entering bath water. The forecast is for 95 degrees and possibly 98 degrees for the next two days. I'll be holed up inside in the airconditioning for much of it, very much like holing up inside during extreme cold or snow. You gotta love the Northeast.
45 minute spin class with weight intervals
40 minute Pilates mat routine on my own
Oh, it's so not fun to get up at 4:15 AM on the mornings when I do the early morning spin class. But it feels so gratifying to get my exercise in before the rest of the day starts. I feel like no matter how many things I screw up during the rest of the day, at least I did one good thing for myself. I started the day by checking off one big to-do item on my list.

6/5: medium full body weight workout, 30 mins on the elliptical, 30 mins yoga
6/6: 5.1 mile run
6/7: DB circuit, carried several file cabinets downstairs to the curb, 30 mins stationary bike
60 minutes elliptical, resistance at eight, half backward
60 minute Pilates class
The sky blackened & the light outside turned a weird greenish shade when I walked to the gym. While I was on the elliptical, at the front window, the storm broke. At one point I heard what sounded like dropped marbles -- it was hail stones hitting the plate glass & the cars parked outside. Now we've still got far-off lightning at my bed time. At least it will break the heat.
9:39 rowing 2,000 meters as warmup on the Concept 2
60 minutes weights
45 minutes arc trainer, hill intervals, resistance at nine
Couldn't drink enough water at the gym today, due to the high level of humidity, in spite of the cool air.
At one point when I was on a bench, one of the big guys started walking haltingly toward me with a glazed look in his eyes. He looked very much like someone leading a zombie apocalypse. Then I caught sight of the resistance bands, pulled taut behind him, attached to one of the machines. He was exercising. I think that's his "e" face. (That would be one's exercise face, as opposed to one's "o" face. Though maybe some peoples' "o" faces are like their "e" faces ... Such are my thoughts while going through reps on arm day at the gym.)
