  • Bargoo - Sometimes I tend to be really grammar-focused. It doesn't help that I am an English teacher, and that I see tiny monsters on my students' papers almost every day. ^^;

Jay - I remember FresnoBeeDude too. That's terrible. I had no clue (not being on the forum much doesn't help, I guess).

On lighter news - Funny how one's way of thinking can change. I've been down with a stomach bug for the past two days. A few years ago, I'd probably have thought "great, this means I'm going to lose weight". Now I just feel frustrated because I couldn't go running (that, and doing sloppily on studying The Winter's Tale... though what did I hope since I'm very tired today, huh).

I didn't mean to drop my upset-about-cholesterol post and disappear. I've been out in the field for the last three days straight, complete with a 14.5 hour day Wednesday when... well anyway, it was a very long day. I'm going to try to take a day off next week to make up for it, if I can manage. Luckily BF could hang out with Emma or I would have had to tell my boss I couldn't do it all! It's always busier for us in the summer but I swear this year it's worse - training two new staff, less personnel due to cuts, and more work to do. Yes Saef, no stress in my life! Most of my stress is work related, though even my theatre group has been very stressful the first half of this year!

My dad & his family have high cholesterol, so this certainly could be genetic. This doc was one I was going to for a diving physical for work. Three of us went and got a generic letter on top of our results that said "discuss any abnormalities with your primary physician" (which I don't have), and he wrote "ok" by any test results that were flagged, including my high cholesterol. At least all the individual #s are within range. My HDL (good) is high (90ish?) and my LDL (bad) is 93, triglycerides are smack in the middle. I really don't think I can change much about the types of foods I eat to be better, I just eat a little too much I've lost 5 lbs since January and just need to continue on that track and see if losing weight helps. Slow but in the right direction. And maybe throw in some yoga for my stress?

BF has the weekend free, so we're going fishing! That will reduce our stress! I've got some friends visiting next weekend so I also need to clean my house top to bottom.

Michele, how was lunch? Sounds like a neat program for the kids.

My parents are both English teachers, my mom has also taught grammar. Don't get me started! I was always the person my friends asked to proof for them. I'm not as good as I once was, though (just like the song...).
In casual writing I use too many ellipses... and dashes - "the lazy man's comma" as one of my lit profs called them.

Jessica, enjoy the conference! Is it in a fun location?

    Allison, the gala sounds great!

I'm off to wake BF up. The fish are getting away! What kind of fisherman is he? Have a great weekend all!
  • Megan - I love yoga. I have been having 14 hour days this week, too, so haven't gotten any in and I can feel my internal pressure valve about to 'splode.

Kery - hope you are feeling better!

I did a five mile race this morning, second in a four race series I'm doing. Sometimes the best thing you can say about a race is that you finished it under your own power. Today was one of those races. I've had crazy long days all week long with lots of driving and stress and crazy willy nilly, have eaten out every day this week and not made the best food choices, have only exercised three out of the last ten days (counting today, and one of the days was cutting the grass), haven't gotten in any yoga since Monday. So, like I said - just glad I finished! Next week has to be better.
  • Hi guys! The conference is going okay but is extremely exhausting. Megan, it's in Baltimore, which would be more fun if I actually had time to see much of it! I did make it to the aquarium Saturday morning which was fun, but other than that I've just been doing conference stuff. My throat hurts from talking so much! Food is hit and miss since I'm basically limited to things being sold within a few blocks of the convention center. I have been walking a lot and on my feet a lot though, which, while good for burning calories, is not so good for my plantar fasciitis. My feet hurt, but they're holding up and don't seem to be getting any worse despite the extra work.
  • Megan-- the day was great and the lunch was fun! The girls loved it and I ate my packed lunch. They could have cared less. I was stressed about getting back in time-- there was a huge line-- so I wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway.

Dh came back today and we went to a favorite restaurant-- I was so tempted to have a hamburger and fries but I kept remembering that I was good on Friday so I shouldn't cave on Sunday. I had a "black and blue" salad which is a steak fillet on a salad with blue cheese and onions. I didn't have the salad dressing so I indulged without indulging too much.
  • A line at In 'N Out? Who'd have thunk it? LOL. Isn't there always a line?

I'm so happy to report that I've now lost 7 pounds! I ordered another 4 weeks of Medifast for a total of 8 weeks. I think after that I'll be able to figure out a way to do it with "real" food.
  • Hey! I'm down almost 8 pounds, alinnell. Yes, you can figure out how to do it with non-Medifast foods--I've had to do so because of intolerance to protein powders. Just make sure you're taking a good multivitamin.

  • High five Allison & Jay on the weight loss!
