  • Monday, 30 May:

60 minutes on the new Cybex arc trainer, hill intervals, resistance at 6
    30 minutes Pilates mat routine

This machine at the gym is right at the big front windows, and there are no gigantic posters with close-ups of sweaty tanned abs covering these windows, so I was able to look at & be looked at by men in uniforms of all ages -- from elderly to so young, they seemed barely out of high school -- walking to join the assembling Memorial Day parade. Also a stream of families accompanied by children waving little flags. And one skipping, pirouetting little girl wearing a navy blue top & a striped red-and-white skirt.
  • Another hour of moving gravel. Bend and twist is a dangerous move for me at present but I kept my abs tight (mostly) and seem to be OK. Tomorrow will tell.

What a cool experience while you were working out! That would surely make me feel patriotic!
  • Quote: May 28: 90 minutes Bikram Yoga

    Totals:
    23 days
    1636 minutes
May 29: 50 minutes very brisk walking (cold and windy and I HATE cold) home from the nail spa and then later to and from the gym (dd had the one car we have this weekend).
30 minutes elliptical (80 minutes total)

May 30: tried a new class today. I'm always so nervous to try something new but my Boot Camp was canceled tonight. Felt like I had two left feet but enjoyed it overall and may try it again during the summer when my schedule permits.

    60 minutes Brazilian Carnival class

    Total: 25 days
1776 minutes (a patriotic number for Memorial Day!)
  • Tuesday, May 31:

    In the morning:
10:04 minutes rowing on the Concept 2 to get 2,000 meters in -- a very smooth, consistent action but not as fast
    60 minutes weights

In the evening (ain't we got fun?):
60 minutes Endurance ride in spin class

After class, one of the young guys who works at the gym showed me the machine for assisted dips & pullups. Whee!!! That was kind of fun, like a carnival ride. I am a weakling in my upper body: 16 pounds for the pullups, 15 pounds for the dips. But other women from spin class stood around watching me try it & just shook their heads & wouldn't even get up on it. Not so long ago, that would've been me. But I don't mind failing at weights. That just means I have to start lower & work harder & that it will take longer. There are other things I hate failing publicly at before an audience, but this is not one of them. Particularly when I am trying and they aren't trying at all.
