Dagmar you just convinced me to buy tulips today! I LOVE tulips and rarely flowers for the house, but why not?
My grandparent are coming to town. I'm excited because I hardly ever get to see them, but a little anxious because my meals will be thrown in a bit of a flux. I've been proactive and offered to host 3 meals. It's a double bonus, my mom thinks I'm being a good daughter, which I am;), butt the truth is I really just want control over what is being served. I've been doing a lot of work on myself emotionally lately and I think I'm finally coming to peace with all my "issues", being an adult can be tough:) So right now I'm walking my dog and this is what's around me, it amazes me how well I can multi task and what I can do with my phone:) but seriously with a sunrise like this, who wouldnt be at peace. Now if my dog would go to the bathroom already it'd be a perfect start to my Saturday! http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/4308210a.jpg |
We were planning on going to a movie last night but a wrench got thrown in when my in-laws called. A transformer had gone out near their place and they had no electricity. It was 103 degrees and they were on their way to volunteer at the Elks club and they couldn't leave their cat so they brought him over. Yeah, we could have still gone, but this cat is old and crotchety and doesn't like my houseful of animals, so we stayed in and kept an eye on everyone.
Today we're golfing and thankfully it won't be as hot as yesterday and we're golfing tomorrow as well and it will be even cooler. Did I tell you I got new clubs? I decided that since EVERYONE else got new clubs that I should really trash my 20+ year old set and get new. DH and I went out Tuesday and bought a set of Ladies Cobra S3 max clubs and then Wednesday I picked up a new bag for them. I can't wait to try them out! |
alinnell! I think we may be neighbors...where about in socal are you? Oddly I too live in socal and it was 103 yesterday! AND where I live happens to be golf central!

Here in NY, it was sunny but chilly & windy. I went down to the theater district to get tickets for two different plays, then to the Whitney to see the Hopper exhibit before it closes next weekend. The crowds were annoying; I kept nearly bumping into people while shifting about to get a better angle.
I also looked at shoes, but did not buy any. Platforms, platforms, platforms. There is a pair of black shooties by Michael Kors that I really liked, but I'm not up for indulging myself just yet. |

OMG!!!!! You are kidding! I live in La Quinta! I grew up in Palm Desert, went to PDHS. We moved here when I was about 8, I'm 31 now. I went to Los Angeles for college, but moved back after graduation and have been back here since 2004.
This is so crazy, what a small world! |

And as I type this, the Vintage Club is having their year end celebration with fireworks. I always feel really bad for the animals at the Living Desert when they shoot off the fireworks. We can see the fireworks (kind of--trees get in the way). So we should get together! What do you think? DH and I own a construction business in Palm Desert. He frequents a lot of the country clubs around here--we're currently doing a huge place at the Madison Club. In a couple of weeks we'll be a little more free (next Saturday we're flying to SLC for my Mom's memorial and Sunday we're going to Young Frankenstein at the McCallum). Let me know! We'd love to have your family up for a BBQ! |

I have to be honest though I'm a little hesitant. I use 3FC as sort of an open diary and all my eccentricities are all over the place here for all to see. Of course my picture is in my avatar so that sort of takes away from my anonymity, but never in a million years did I think I'd meet someone from the desert here! Not to mention someone who happens to work in the same field as me! Yep, I'm an architect! There is a good chance you or your husband may know my bosses...the world just keeps getting smaller. So anyway, let me get used to the idea and maybe get to know you a little better here. I'm not sure we've had many exchanges so far. I'm still in total shock that we're neighbors! Just too crazy. Also, just wanted to send my condolences for your loss. |
I know hectic! My husband and I own a small business here (Crescent Glass) and things can get all crazy in no time. I also understand your hesitancy--not a problem. Only twice have I met up with people from chat boards. Once was a girl I met way back in the early 90's on Prodigy. She and I both have kids born on Christmas and we discussed ways of keeping the two celebrations separate. We're still Facebook friends. The other time, I drove down to Temecula to meet up with a group of women and their Labradors (from a Lab chat board). We had a lot of fun letting the dogs play together.
Ok, you're an architect? Wow! Are you familiar with Kristie Hanson or Guy Dreier? We do a lot of their homes. In fact it was Guy that "made" Crescent Glass--he was building a home in the Vintage club and couldn't find a glass company that could do what he needed. He's from SLC, too, and he made an offer to our ex-partner to start a glass company. We had some real lean times right after that, but things have steadily improved since then. And eccentricities? We all have them. It's what makes us unique! |

According to my husband, he's been doing projects with Kristie for about 15 years. I bet you've met him. We also do a few projects with Narandra Patel and some others. Such a small world!
So we went golfing again today. I think it was the best round of my life! I really love my new clubs!!! |
