Default Anybody out there wearing size 5 jeans at 5'6?

I'm 5'6 and I want to fit into size 5 jeans. What weight would I have to get down to to make that happen?

Who knows what weight that would be. Sizes vary from maker to maker. People who exercise will wear a smaller size than those who don't, what shape you have, etc. Will a 5 be long enough for you?

Thanks for responding so quickly. I've heard 125lbs, 5'6 for 5 jeans which is 5lbs less than my actual goal weight though my ticker says 154 for now.

How old are you? Womens sizes are in even numbers, 2,4,6,8. Size 5 is juniors sizing. If you're over 18 I would recommend reconsidering where you shop.

Default i heart juniors

i disagree with katel a bit. Yes, the pants may not be "appropriate" for anyone over 25. But i love juniors clothes. i go into the womans dept and it is things my mom would wear. Nothing fun. So i often go where they sell plus size junior things. The articles are usually cheap and don't last a long time (depending on the store of course), but then you get to buy more later LOL! i know juniors pants don't work for everyone. But sometimes it's like you just want a few fun pieces.

edited to add, yup i am old, 35.

I find that the women's section is full of outdated styles, anyway.

I am 25 and still shop in the Junior dept. They have cuter styles than the womens section. IMO.

Oh, I am a size 5 right now

Hi Okie
I wear a size 6 now, sometimes even a 4 depending on the style and brand. I can't wear junior sizes though, just don't fit my body right. I guess I'm old because I've never had trouble finding things I like in the women's department, much easier than the plus size section ever was.

I think any goal is lovely. I would not get so hung up on the actual size until you are there. For example, a size 5 5 years ago is probably a size 1 or 3 today due to recent sizing changes. Also the junior sizes (odd) reflect smaller hips than the woman's sizes (even).
Good luck and enjoy the journey!!

The Misses section is not just for little old ladies, it's for ladies who have grown into women. Pregnancy often changes a girls shape beyond that of a "Junior". I find lovely fashionable clothing in the Misses department. Like CyndiM said, I MUCH rather shop in the Misses section than the Plus size department...

Oh and to answer the op's question, if I wore juniors clothes, I can fit into a 5 now at the weight of 138...though they do not flatter my body type and jeans often result in the nasty looking camel toes syndrome. I have a long torso and curvy hips, Juniors are made more for girls with shorter mid body sections and narrow hips.

I have 2 daughters who are 5'6". One is 118 and wears a 0/2 and one is 123 and wears a 2.

Don't know if that helps.
.
I find I am drawn to the younger women's clothes only because they fit my body better. I've had 3 children and don't have the flare in the hips that the women's wear usually has.

I'm 5'5.5" and wear a 4, a 2 on my lower points. I got into the size four originally at 122ish pounds, I've reshaped a little with strength training and am still in them at 128. And they fit better now.

Hmmm...I'm not sure what size a 5 is in women's sizes, I'm guessing a 4/6. I'm 5'-6" and since I was 150 I've fit into 8/10s. I'm 141 now and still in 8/10s. I think in juniors I'd be a 9, but I'm not sure. Now not to toot my own horn and I know many people feel an 8/10 is on the bigger side, but I feel freaking fantastic at this size and I wear it well, most people think I'm 10 lbs less than I am and closer to a 4/6. I also know there are girls my weight who wear smaller sizes than me, so body type is a big player. Just take it as it comes and see how you feel when you get there. Like I said I feel really good at an 8/10, I think I may dip into a 6/8 as my body settles in (I always lose inches after lbs) but I think I personally would look too thin at a 4/6, but that's just me.
