Kim - just be careful. Mindful of the body, etc etc. :)

I may or may not have just bought a refrigerator and dishwasher. Waiting for the approval to come through. I'm looking at my budget and thinking I spent more than I wanted to spend in May, thinking about veggies I let go bad because I had bad storage and went out to eat too much, so the obvious answer was to buy a new fridge so the veggies had more room and didn't get crushed causing me to eat out in frustration because I had no good salad lettuce. Now, was that the reason I ate out? NO. Do I need a new fridge? YES. So, hopefully works out and I can let go of the self denial I'm feeding myself. :dizzy:

Shannon, I bought a new fridge in January and it's awesome. Amazing how good the veges and fruits stay fresh in it. My "old" on was only 9 years old but had a cooling problem (didn't cool consistently which, when the mission statement of a fridge, is a bad thing - BTW Amana is the maker). But this new LG French door on is amazing. I now want a new dishwasher so I will be in envy of yours because I can't afford it right now.

Kim, my mom had a delayed reaction to a IUD with copper. But not like what you're experiencing.

Marie~when we built our house we got all Amana appliances. Then a few years go by and they come out with the French door fridges (we had a side by side). I was envious. Then my dishwasher conked out (leaked constantly so we always had a towel on the floor). We had a couple minor problems with the fridge but nothing bad, but the bad dishwasher sent us looking for a new one. We decided to get an LG dishwasher and splurged on an LG French door fridge. I really regret both decisions. The dishwasher (the top of their line) does not have an adequate food disposer so we have to rinse everything first; it doesn't heat nearly as well as the Amana did and often I'll open it as soon as it's done and the dishes aren't even hot--warm, yes, but barely; three times we've gotten error messages that aren't covered in the manual (we end up "rebooting" it by unplugging it for half an hour); and finally, it takes forever (2 hours or more) to do a load. The fridge is okay, but we gave up two really nice features in the old Amana--one was cooled water (it had a reservoir in the fridge that cooled the water prior to dispensing it from the door) and the other is the compartment that took extra cold air and put it in the compartment where you keep your milk--it make my milk stay fresh for days more than now. Also the ice maker in the new LG doesn't store as much ice as the Amana, so if we have a party we have to buy ice.

I've been reading more about metal allergies--most people become allergic to nickel and a very small number to titanium. I didn't read any about copper allergies.

Allison, my Kenmore dishwasher also takes a inordinately long time to run even the light cycle. We've basically stopped using it.....

you ladies are amazing :) i feel like an alien in my own body and i have two boys to care for all by myself... i am counting the hour or so until they go to bed so i can be 'alien' by myself ! it is just bizarre... and of course, the drugs are like you are drunk so inhibitions go out the window so dinner was way too many fish crackers and two bowls of cereal instead of the healthy pasta and sauce i had planned... man... i just want this swelling gone! so i am taking the silly drugs the doc said to and the swelling is still there on top of of the drunk feeling...man... she is going to get a blast from me on tues!

i love my appliances... none are LG... dishwasher has had a couple issues but that is more from installation by my ex than anything...and i fixed them myself about 9 mths ago now

going to go to work tomorrow and do yoga so nothing strenuous but need to get this body moving or else i'm going to die :)

Dagmar - I hope the dog heals quickly!

Kim - sorry you're still feeling so miserable. Hopefully the pills will help you through the weekend!

The AC in tbe house I'm renting isn't working - apparently it needs to be replaced completely, which won't happen until at least next week and it's almost 100 degrees outside... miserable :( We've been sleeping with the windows open because it's cooler at night but everything is blooming and just makes my allergies go nuts. *sigh* Anyway - the treadmill I bought is just sitting in the office - way too hot to use it right now. I'm so bummed.

rambling thoughts

I was sitting there last night, eating snack packs of tiny awful cookies, and I was wondering when an emotional compulsion becomes just a bad habit.

I have broken some pretty destructive bad habits over the years. Why can't I seem to do it with food? Is it because I don't think food is serious enough?

If I overeat I don't sleep well but I can still show up for work and do a good job. If I overeat the dogs don't care. The impact of overeating on my health is not significant enough at this time to make me afraid enough to stop.

And the skinny pants, although they are terrific when I fit into them, don't seem to be motivation enough either. Maybe it's because I lack anyone to see me in them or any place to wear them.

Anyway TGIF and have a good one everyone!

Dagmar :dizzy:

What a terrific idea Dagmar (Mudpie) - we should have a Maintainers Ball each year so we will all be motivated to get in shape to dress up.

I'll go buy a tuxedo at my maintenance weight and be too cheap to want to have it tailored, LOL.

I recommend that the first year be held in Madrid - I've never been and we could have modest sized tapas instead of overeating.

Then Moscow, then New Delhi, then Sydney, then Anchorage - but others might want to vote, LOL.

I'm in! :carrot:

Bill, I think your dance card is going to fill up quickly!

latest in my saga :) i am still taking the stupid pills and dont really feel any relief. i am nearly convinced that it is a long term, slow, reaction to my iud as a bunch of previous symptoms seem to fit now (acne, itchy skin, jaundice palms, and now the swelling). i just hadnt put 2 and 2 together until yesterday... of course, this is just my opinion at this point... i have a call into my doc... am just as swollen as yesterday that's for sure!

paperclippy 05-21-2010 09:36 AM

Kim, if your doc can't fit you in before Tuesday you may want to consider going to an urgent care center or something like that. It sounds pretty serious!

Speaking of itching, my legs have been itching like crazy for the past week. I think it might be either some kind of razor burn, or that I got some irritant on my razor before shaving (I will use a new blade next time). A bunch of the pores that the hairs come out of are red and a little raised. I told DH he will have to put up with me having hairy legs this week because I'm going to see if not shaving for a little while helps.

Bill, count me in! Just give me time to renew my passport first, and I might rather go to Barcelona than Madrid. ;) I still think we need to have a maintainers convention/meetup/healthy cruise/group vacation. It would be totally awesome!

Dagmar, I hope the doggie is okay! It may be true that overeating isn't a big impact on your health right now, but think about it this way -- the longer you do it for, the bigger an impact it is. If you gained a lot of weight, you would not be able to go out and walk those dogs anymore. Now, I know your start weight in your ticker isn't very high, so if you just gained back to there, no, it probably would have no negative effect on your health. But if you were on an upward trend before, and just kept gaining, it could be a serious problem.

Hi to everyone else!

traveling michele 05-21-2010 12:02 PM

Oh! I like the idea of a healthy cruise! Amanda is/was going to take one (in the fall I think?)

Kim-- have you taken out the IUD? If it is bothering you and it is still in place, that can't be helping. So sorry you aren't seeing any relief yet. Are you able to make your yoga?

I'm off in a few minutes for my yearly physical. I had forgotten about it until yesterday. Luckily the scale has been cooperating the last three days at home so I'll see how it is in my jeans. I can't recall what I weighed last year but I'm sure it was right around here.

alinnell 05-21-2010 12:19 PM

My motivation at this point is going to have to be my 30th high school reunion. A bunch of folks are talking about it on Facebook and so I must get myself in shape for that! It's not for a year, but I can't think like that. I have been less than stellar in my dedication for such a long time and putting it off any longer just won't suffice.

On a good note, DD is coming home from school today for a visit. She really likes lamb so I found a recipe that sounds really good on Cooking Light yesterday. Ground lamb--kind of like meatballs, but longer and skewered and grilled. I'll serve them in a pita with sauce kind of like a gyro. I hope it's as good as it sounds!

4rabbit 05-21-2010 01:14 PM

Kim, I second the suggestio that if your doc is not able to see you sooner than next tuesday, you might want another health professional check the situation. The jaundice does not sound that good, but I am in no way a health professional.
