Did your fieldhockey team fall asleep at a reasonable hour, Rabbit? DS (15 yrs old today!) has 3 friends over and I told them to go to sleep at MN, then at 1, then at 2 and then I passed out. DH said they were still awake at 5 am. Goodness.....they'll be getting up at 9 am!

I'm grateful for:

DS #2....he marches to his own music, but I'm grateful cause I never noticed other music until him

  • going out and dancing the night away with friends :)
  • going to a diner afterwards, staying perfectly on plan and loving every minute of it :)
  • a sneak peak into spring :)
  • not dreading the summer :)
  • really fabulous $18.00 haircuts :)

midwife...the hockey players partied at home till about 11 pm, biked to the next village (I fell asleep), returned at 4 am (I woke up), went to sleep at 5 am (I fell asleep). They ahd another game at 1 pm this afternoon and when I came down at that time they had left the house with a clean kitchen, clean livingroom and generally no mess at all. The last one out even said thank you for the hospitality! I am amazed.

Sweet, the way you expressed DS2 showing you different music.

Rabbit - love how teenagers can actually act like reasonable people at times! :)

Midwife - that was lovely about the different music.

1) I finally finished implementing a difficult feature at work
2) I got a big raise and bonus!
3) The bonus will totally cover the amount I owe the government in taxes
4) Taxes are done
5) SPRING!

midwife 03-09-2010 12:13 PM

Rabbit & Pat, you guys are very kind. I appreciate his uniqueness....is it also ok that there are times I want to hang him by his toes?

Congrats on the raise and bonus, Jessica!

Shannon in ATL 03-09-2010 12:19 PM

Midwife - I think appreciating his uniqueness & wanting to hang him by his toes sometimes go hand in hand! :)

Jessica - great news on taxes ad bonus!

Today I'm grateful for making it through yesterday unscathed, and hoping to make it through today...

-coffee
-DH feeling more energized and losing weight on the less meat diet
-AnyWhey unflavored protein becoming a part of that less meat diet

Oh, Robin, do share the recipe!

~DS grew another inch since Christmas (he won't be short like DH's family!!)
~DD home for the weekend was great!
~DD told her little brother that he was looking "good"
~DS smiled and contributed to the conversation at dinner (you know how 15 year old boys can be!)
~sunshine rather than fog (but the wind can stop any time now!)

Ha! Recipe? It was just a bunch of stuff I threw together. I will try to get it written down within the next few days - it was just that good, I'd love to share it. I'll put it in the Maintainer's Recipes thread.
  • mega-sized oh so delicious salads
  • DH FINALLY getting under 200 lbs and getting his BP meds lowered
  • that my family has agreed to a cake "free" Passover holiday that's coming up in a couple of weeks. Cake free, and some traditional unhealthy standard recipes free. I can't believe I've got them on board!!!
  • another day of bee-u-tee-ful weather
  • that I'm married as of today - 24 years

paperclippy 03-10-2010 10:39 AM

Robin, happy anniversary! Speaking of Passover, do you have any passover-friendly recipes to share? I eat so much pasta and rice it's hard for me to come up with things to eat since nearly all my recipes are not passover-friendly.

1) it's warm enough to turn the heater off during the day and crack a window for the dog to sniff through
2) relatedly, the dog looks adorable when he sits next to the window and rests his chin on the sill so he can get a good sniff of the air flow
3) a bunch of stuff is finally coming together at work
4) the cooking club Russian-themed dinner we hosted last weekend was a success
5) it turns out that the Russian salmon potato salad recipe is actually pretty healthy, in addition to being delicious

midwife 03-10-2010 10:46 AM

Hmmm....tell us more about the Russian salmon potato salad, please, Jessica! I like salmon and potatoes (and Russians, too!).

Shannon in ATL 03-10-2010 10:57 AM

Happy anniversary Robin!

I'm in a much better place emotionally than I have been the last few days... so over everything else, I'm grateful for that. :)

-the rain held out long enough for me to get my run in at the park yesterday
-DSS had a good birthday dinner with mom & dad last night at Wendy's
-DSS has gotten in trouble this week at school
-coffee
-2 RSVPs for DSS's party this weekend... I was afraid no one from his class would come...

paperclippy 03-10-2010 11:06 AM

Midwife, I just posted the recipe here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/3193969-post106.html
