Hi chicks. Still here. Shannon, your words about ups and downs were spot on.
All is stable, weight and otherwise. Been slacked on exercise two times this week due to feeling poopy depressed. Bad precedent.
Out for dinner tonight, will stay M.O.P. (mostly on plan) and tomorrow, come **** or high water I WILL work out!

Girls, I will be personals and back on daily posting manana. Stay cool until then.

silver, don't let my whining deter you from trying NRLW. It's a great program and overall I really enjoy it.

I've been lifting, but due to a combination of circumstances (work, sick, cold, dark, laziness) I haven't run in 9 days. Ulp! There's only one way to fix that, I guess.....

Midwife, I DID workout. A nice 6er, yersireebob. (Now your turn )
And then spin today. Unfortunately food choices quite terrible and abundant.
scale 129. I have lunch and a good attitude today

Re my being down: It is fairly ironic because I am a naturally positive person. I have battled depression and am a tad neurotic about my children but really and truly I am a glass half full kinda girl. Oh well. I will not find myself in a psychiatrists office looking to medicate the effects of my husband's depression on me! My mother thinks perhaps I could use a few crisis counseling sessions. -- in that I can't change him, maybe I can change my reactions to him--- being angry all the time is so draining!
Things are ok for now. I'll go with that.

Silver, I have been thinking about NRLW. And I think Jessica likes it. Ward, you have not talked me out of it!

Silver, Becky I hope your bodies are behaving and you are getting over your colds/coughs...
Becky, how's it going?

Shannon, I have tried to be meat free many times. It seems a laboratory/health imperative might help the transfer... you go girl

Midwife - I'm the opposite of you this last week. I've gotten my runs in but have't lifted in over a week. Two days of yoga, but that has been the only non-running exercise in about 8 days.

Kitty - hope you got to workout yesterday and are feeling better today.

Birch - I've heard a lot of good things about NROLW. I'm about to borrow a copy of NROL from a friend, and am thinking about buying the other.

DH relaxed his eating restrictions yesterday for lunch out with his mom for his birthday. We then went out for our birthday dinner last night, even though his birthday is actually today. He decided he wanted to knock out all the bad in one swoop and get back on track today. As a result I feel a little sodium bloated today. Ick. Drinking lots of water and preparing myself to get back on the low/no cholesterol train today...

Posted at the same time, kitty! glad you are got some exercise in - that always makes me feel better! There is a book called "The Dance of Anger", Harriet Lerner maybe?, that was recommended to me to read several years ago. It is written specifically for women, discusses ways to change the patterns of anger in intimate relationships and how to more effectively and positively express it. I liked it. It might help you some, too, if anger is one of your big issues.

LOL Silver, NRLW is hard, but it's really good too. For once in my life I actually have shapely, muscular legs.

I decided to extend my calorie counting break to a week and see what happens. It was pretty liberating to prepare my breakfast this morning. I still measured out a half cup of oats and 1C water, but I sprinkled in a few raisins, added a small spoonful of apple butter, and poured my milk up to the third fish from the top (my glasses have little fish on them) all without using the scale.

Actually mostly the reason for extending is that I didn't want to deal with recipes this week and calculating calories for the "I threw some stuff in a pot" type recipes is a major pain in the . If I gain weight this week, back to the grindstone. If not I may consider extending my experiment.

I got down to 138.4 on Saturday. Then I ate Thai food and the fish sauce sodium shot me up to 141.

Mmm, Thai food... I meant to get some this weekend but didn't quite make it to a Thai restaurant. A dinner of sushi, night of drinking (ahem, you don't want to know how many... I only blow it out like this once a year or less, does that make it better?) and a Waffle house breakfast made my weight of 155.5 Saturday AM shoot up to 164 Monday AM. Holy water retention! It was so, so much fun to go out with the girls and dance all night. I got a bunch of cute tops at the Banana republic outlet, too. I wasn't brave enough for pants but the shirts will make me feel good when I wear them.

I posted in the maintainers thread I've decided after this coming weekend, I'm doing 30 day bootcamp, calorie cutting, no booze or sweets. I need a jump start. If I don't make progress I'm going to buy some bigger pants and work on self-acceptance. That's not to say that I'll be off-plan this week, but I've got one more big social event-weekend. I've got too many other commitments right now to be going out so much anyway.

Jessica, let us know how the experiment goes!

Oh, silver, NRLW was hard but I definitely recommend it!

Midwife, have you been running yet?

Megan, I want to go dancing with you and your girls! I haven't been dancing since college, and I haven't been to an actual dance club since high school (okay, so I only actually went once in my life, but still). I'm kind of lacking in terms of a circle of girlfriends too. I need to be better about socializing.

Do you guys ever get sad when someone *else* breaks up? DH's brother may be breaking up with his girlfriend, and it's totally depressing. I wanted them to get married! (Apparently so does the girlfriend, but BIL doesn't feel like he's mature enough even though he's 28! So she's kind of like, if you're not going to marry me, I need to find someone who will.) There hasn't been any definitive word on whether they're broken up or not yet. I'm crossing my fingers he'll come to his senses and marry her. They've been together for years and she's pretty much part of the family.

Okay, enough airing the family dirty laundry. Weight is starting to come back down from the Thai food fish sauce water weight high. Not sure yet what I'm making for dinner tonight, but it's kind of exciting to have it be up in the air and that I can be creative.

Why, yes, I have! I managed 2 miles at DS's soccer practice last night. Not too shabby considering I expected to have to start C25K after my 9 day lapse! Oh, I need to go update the 1000 miles thread!

On thai food- I had it this past weekend too! After living with our thai au pair a for two years, I can now cook some dishes. In fact I brought the makings of tom yum soup with me to work today. I am open to sharing my secrets
Did spin today. No work out yesterday- super duper time crunch.

Midwife, great job on the run!

Kitty, ooooh, please post your tom yum recipe in the recipes thread!

Experiment is going well so far. The water weight is gone and I was 138.6 this morning, which is the first time I've seen 138 on a weekday. I think the interval running is really what's making a difference. Last night for dinner I made my pinto bean skillet recipe that I love (it's in the recipes thread), but I didn't have a bell pepper so I put in mushrooms and kale instead. Yum! There is some salmon defrosting in the fridge for tonight's dinner.

OTOH I kind of half-assed my workout today. I was going to ride the stationary bike at lunchtime, but my legs are sore from the run monday and squats/lunges yesterday. I still went and rode the bike, but only for 15 minutes and at a really easy pace (barely broke a sweat). Oh well, moving is moving, right?
