  • Those sprouts sound great. Who am I kidding -- all sprouts recipes sound great to me. I love brussels sprouts.

I am happy with another (2nd annual!) on-plan thanksgiving.
I liked my annual apple pie made with a whole-wheat crust this year, makes for a very sturdy crust.

On thursday I did have 2 extra ounces of red wine (~70 calories), so I went ~100 calories lighter on Friday than I was planning.

Good weekend for me ... we did our annual christmas tree farm excursion on Friday, cut down a tree. Went for a hike. Watched an old movie (libeled lady) from netflix. Put on christmas music and cuddled with the cats.
  • Yeah, that 2/3 of a pie I was forced into taking home? It's gone. Sadly, it's gone into my stomach instead of into the trash. Oops.

Funny how that one day of off-plan eating for Thanksgiving seems to have put me on a spiral of craving more and more bad for me foods. I keep wanting cheeseburgers, wanting burritos, wanting to go out to eat, and snacking way too much. It stops today! The pie is gone, so no more junk!
  • Oh no, paperclippy! I know just what you mean about the one off day (I think we all do ...) You will nip it. And it will be over.
  • Michele - I've been "ordered" by my truly swimaholic GF to prepare for May's short-course yardage (25yd) Master's swimming championships in ATL. She's a national Top 10 this year in multiple distance events. The last national event I competed in was back in 1997 when I was in the 25-29 age group, . I'm spending the rest of this year just loosening stuff up and building some reserve - the pressure goes back on in Jan. and twice a week workouts won't cut it.

paperclippy - clear that pantry! Don't undo all your hard work!

WPF - That sounds like a GREAT weekend! I'm *almost* ready to start hearing just a bit of Christmas music, and I think I'll be bringing up some decorations today. I really should get my butt outside and get the lights in the bushes - it's 42 and dry (we haven't seen a snowflake yet this season); it won't last forever!
  • Jessica, I'm with you on the spiral. I'm sitting at sonic right now waiting for a mocha chiller, as matter of fact. It came about after an unfortunate attempt to buy a twisted frosty that resulted in the manager at Wendy's starting to cry. By the time everything was over I felt like a heel and desperately wanted ice cream so wound up at Sonic... And left this up for hours imposter and now having pizza for dinner. At least mine has broccoli, tomato and grille chicken as the toppings... Have to get back on track tomorrow. I feel icky and out of control.

I did spend 1.5 hours at the park with DSS, during which I chase him on his bike around the mile track. Running is totally different when you are chasing a four year old on a bike...
  • Tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start for all of us! All Thanksgiving goodies will be properly disposed of and we'll all be back on track, headed for a healthy and happy holiday season. So go clean out the frig and pantry, give it away, freeze it, or -- if necessary! -- throw it away. WE are not garbage cans!

All my company is gone and I'm sitting here in kind of a stupor, though I should be doing laundry. It feels like I could sleep for a week. I'm going to sit down tonight and make a plan for the week, both food and exercise. And it's going to get a very high priority on my To Do list. I can't wait to get to the gym in the morning -- for some reason, I'm in a "kick butt, lift heavy" mood (stress relief?) so plan to have some fun.
  • Well, I haven't eaten out of control this weekend, though for some reason I got up this morning and made oatmeal spice cookies for DH! This was a delicious sounding recipe in Cooking Light. Light hah! There are 5 TBSP of butter (plus a cup of brown sugar) in a recipe that makes only 2 doz cookies! Good thing there's oatmeal for fiber. I haven't had any - and won't. Mr. Skinny will scarf them down in the next day or two. He was very happy....

ICU - I'm looking forward to the swimming. Like Jessica, I swam a lot in college, and again in graduate school 5 years later. I found it a great stress reliever. I'm glad this session is (a) at 5:15 pm vs. last year's 8:30 pm, and (b) sessions closer together (8 in 3 weeks, vs 8 in 8 weeks). I would like to swim for cardio 1-2x/wk this winter, otherwise I burn out on the treadmill or elliptical. Come warmer weather I can do stuff outside to keep things interesting.

I'm sad to go back to work tomorrow. I have a super busy couple of weeks coming up, not just work, but holiday activities as well. Maybe I should try some to help me stay calm.
