  • Wow, busy thread already today!

    Cute, cute baby Mod!

Meg - I ended up making chili last night after 9 - just had a craving for it. Had it for lunch over some spaghetti squash. I must have been hungry when I packed it - couldn't finish.

Shannon - hope you're feeling better now. Nothing like an upset to send us running for our old comforts.

Talk about forgetting - I got to the gym this morning without my notebook of exercises and weights - eek! I did my PT exercises, and then some squats and deadlifts, as I knew that was the gist of the workout, but I was hard put to remember what weights I'd used last week..... Now the bag is packed for tomorrow with everything.

Had a busy weekend, with glorious weather. And the weather continues, why can't the fun???

I've made travel plans to go visit my sister (and some friends and DH's brother/SIL) in New England Sept 2-14. Now I need to set up a schedule, get a car, find a gym, yada yada...... And I have a ton of stuff to get through at work to be able to be gone for 2 weeks.
  • Back from Beaststock
I feel like the Pillsbury doughboy. Ate just about nothing but meat, carbs and french fries for the last 4 days. All of my vegetable plans went out the window.

Am not going near the scale until Friday - too scary .

Still unpacking/unloading/cleaning up etc. Will catch up tomorrow.

Oh, DH's band was the standout of the event (I say this with no prejudice) as they were the only ones doing original material.

  • Mod~your baby is adorable!

Pat (and Michelle)~I pulled my cell phone bill from our Holland America cruise last summer. None of the calls we made on board the ship cost us any extra. We did get charged for roaming when we were making calls in Vancouver, however. But $15 in roaming is a drop in the bucket when you consider our total cell phone bill is $800 or more per month!

My trip to Italy is getting closer and closer!!! I'm excited and apprehensive all the same.
  • Good morning everyone! I am feeling much better today, though still pretty bloated from the weekend. No big surprise there, considering... Thanks for the good wishes! Megan, I didn't take it out on my punching bag, though I seriously thought about it. Opted to exercise the angst on some dumbbells and then give my hardwoods a serious cleaning.

Allison - you will have a great trip!

Mod - I still have one-two cups of coffee every day, but have cut down to 1 tsp sugar & 1 tbsp ff creamer. That was a pretty drastic change for me, but I just couldn't get rid of the coffee!

Dagmar - glad you had a good trip! Glad DH's band did well!

Pat - I hate it when I start to workout and am missing things... makes everything seem off the entire workout. So, I added those jumping squat tuck things into my dumbbell circuit yesterday (only three sets, not six like everything else) and wow... I could really feel it on the treadmill this morning...

Megan - lots of people have trouble with wakeboarding, don't beat yourself up over or let it give you any angst. I doubt I could get up on one, either.... Glad you had a good trip! Sushi & Starbucks sounds great!

Iris - ouch on the sunburned belly! I'm afraid to wear my bikini out too much, because I'm afraid that same thing will happen!

I had a good day foodwise yesterday, though tossed in a fiber bar when I was jonesing for chocolate and had some extra fruit after dinner. I've been eating a lot of fruit lately... is that bad for me? Oh, and I did exercise yesterday afternoon, the earlier mentioned dumbbell circuit and floor cleaning. Got up this morning and did 2.75 miles between the treadmill and the elliptical. I was not happy on the treadmill today for some reason...

    Good day everyone!
  • Dagmar, sounds like a cool trip even though you feel like the doughboy now! Congrats to your hubby on a good showing w/ his band.

mod, I don't think I could give up my coffee, but I drink it black so it's not so bad. I am a serious caffeine addict, which I know is not good.

Allison, holy crap, $800/month cell phone bill?! yikes!

Shannon, I usually don't worry too much about eating a little extra fruit, but sometimes it does make me a bit gassy!

Yesterday I was really munchy - it was frustrating. I'm hoping to get back on track but Friday I am leaving to drive back to Arizona and healthy eating on the road is always a challenge.
  • Iris~the phone bill is for our company. We have at least a dozen cell phones for our crews. All in all it's worth it.
  • Morning. Had my teeth cleaned first thing, and I'm sitting here feeling nice and shiny.

Mod - try ff H&H, or skim milk (it just looks awful). I started out drinking coffee with lots of milk (but never sugar) but when I got to grad school and my own apt, I couldn't use milk fast enough to keep it from going sour, and started using powdered for cooking. Putting that in my coffee turned me off, though, and I've had it black ever since. Phoebe is a lovely name.....

Well, a nasty carb monster came by and grabbed me yesterday. Started with a piece of homemade almond pastry, and went down from there. I woke up this morning about 5 with a dreadful headache, got up took some Advil, bagged my workout, and slept til 7. Feel much better now, and have no desire to splurge like that for awhile...... I'll be at the gym after work to stay on schedule.
  • Pat - I wonder if your carb monster is related to the one currently residing at my house...
  • I think the "carby" monster is closely related to the weight watchers "hungry" monster. Have you seen the WW commercials where "hungry" the red fuzzy monster is trying to sabotage the people everywhere? I definitely feel that way sometimes. My personal fuzzy "hungry" - often visited by "carby" though - is always lurking around the corner just ready to pelt me with ice cream, brownies, and french fries.
  • hahaha... the "carb"/"hungry" monster has been visiting my house as well! Stress/nerves just make me vulnereable and he knows he can get me!! Tomorrow I am taking the MCAT - and really, worst case scenario is that I will take it again in the spring if I do poorly, but that plus getting ready to go back across the country is making me feel like a bottomless pit. Yuck!

Allison, the phone bill makes a lot more sense if it's for that many people! =)
  • You have my sympathy Iris. I ended up taking LSAT twice. The first time I had a bad cold, and it was a new test with some really weird stuff. The second time was much better and I did fine - not that I went to law school, but that's another whole story.....
  • Good luck tomorrow Iris!
  • Good luck Iris ! I'm sure you'll ace it!

I think I will be a few lbs. lighter by tomorrow. Strange thing happens to me when I'm using outdoor "facilities" - one part of my body becomes extremely shy. Making up for it today - glad the strike is over and the bathrooms are open at the beach again!

Back OP today and my body is craving salad and fruit. No more fries!!!

    Have a great night all!

    Dagmar
  • Meg, you okay? I heard about the incident in the gym near Pittsburgh....I know you work out in the mornings, but could you please check in anyway?
  • Flying by to say thanks for thinking of me, Midwife. I don't belong to the LAFitness where the shootings happened last night but it's close to my house and located in the shopping center next to the one where I work. I know a lot of people who work out there and am worried sick. They haven't released any names yet. It's a sad day.

Got to run for a doctor's appointment.
